Anabella Hotel or Portofino Inn?

I'll be taking my nephew to Disneyland next week and with no availability at the Disney Resorts, we have two other options. The Anabella Hotel or The Portofino Inn. Any feedback or information on these hotels would be wonderful-cleanliness, distance to parks, pool, kid friendly etc.. Thank You!

Not sure about the Portofino, but Anabella charges for parking. If I'm not mistaken it's $10 or $12 a day. Dependeing on how long you stay, that could add up really fast!!

I have stayed at the Anabella. I have stayed there once when I was there last June.

The whole property is a nice atmosphere than most of the hotels around the DLR (not as better as DLR hotels and HOJOs). The good thing about the hotel is it is right next to the Anaheim Convention Center for anyone who is going there during the visit. The rooms are nice and comfortable. It has nice pool size for people to jump in during a long day at the parks. It also has a variety of different room types to choose, I have stayed in the Bella double double room.

The things I don't like about the hotel is that they charge a high price to park a car for a day (I believe it is $12 a night). They don't give you free internet, you have to pay to get on the internet. They don't give you continental breakfast unless you buy one of the higher price rooms to get the free continental breakfast.

It is about a 15-20 min walk to the parks.

We liked our stay in Dec '07, especially being on the first floor with wood floors. I've never looked at a carpeted hotel floor favorably since then!

It was just a pleasant place with nice employees.

When you walk to the parks, we went to the intersection (turn left as you get to the sidewalk), cross Katella, and go towards Paradise Pier Hotel. Stay on the right side, and when you get to the Grand Californian, go in the big front doors. As you enter, go to the left down a long corridor, and that will eventually lead to automatic doors on the right, exit through those, follow the path, and you'll come out in Downtown Disney, right next to Sephora (and across from Haagen Dasz). Turn right, and you'll be at bag check and the esplanade quickly!

I have stayed at both...I think the Anabella is nicer....nicer rooms, nicer pool but Portofino..which i just stayed at last week has bigger rooms,but smaller pool, and rooms feel older......

both are acceptable places to stay and I would go back to both...
