My husband and I will booked at the Anabella Hotel without really doing our homework. I have not found a lot of information about this hotel, other than the hotel website. Has anyone stayed there before? What is the hotel itself like?

We have figured out it is not as close as we would have liked to the main gates. We do have a rental car though and wonder if it would be better to park in the Disney lot or take the ART buses?

Thank you for any help and have enjoyed reading the posts.

Hi Sunriver, and welcome to the DIS.

I do not have any personal experience with the Anabella, but I know that the Walt Disney Travel Co agents like to recommend it. They say it gets a lot of repeat business, meaning that guests like it enough to return.

Also, a co-worker of mine had friends from out-of-town, and they stayed there. He says they were really pleased with the hotel itself and their room. They said that their bed was very comfortable, and the staff was really nice, plus they liked the Spanish styled architecture.

MJ, I am debating between BWPPI (stayed there in June) and Tropicana (I think I remember you saying that was your one of your favs).

It's JUST me and DD (4) so I wanted something close where I felt safe enough. What is it that you like about Tropicana? Also, about the layout, when you drive in it looks like the pool is in the middle, the driveway goes around it and the hotel itself around the parking. Do I have the right idea? Can you usually park right in front or close to your room?

I just stayed at the Anabella (for the 2nd time) last week. It is a very nice hotel. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The grounds are beautiful with fountains, gardens and 2 pools.

The only drawbacks of this hotel are:
1. It is a little farther than I prefer to stay. It is about a 15 min walk to the gates. ART is available, but we chose not to wait. You can either walk down to the Grand Californian, through their lobby to Downtown Disney, then on into the parks. Or you can head the other direction, cross Katella at the Convention Center, enter the pedestrian gate into the back parking lot, catch the tram up to the front gates. Either way takes about the same amount of time.

2. No continental breakfast. Granted you don't get much at the other hotels, but a cup of coffee and some toast usually provide enough to get me started.

3. No microwave. Not such a big deal, but it is always nice to have to make oatmeal, popcorn, reheat leftovers etc.

I enjoyed the Annabella. The rooms are comfortable and well decorated. The grounds are very pretty. It is a bit farther than the best located oplaces on Harbor Blvd but you will not need a car.
