Yeah, I bit the bullet....and went!
Had that huge molar hanging ready to come out for quite awhile. Ended up laying on the floor last Sunday watching TV and noticed my mouth felt "funky" sat up and low and behold- the tooth came out! YESSA no pullin for me!
Went to the docs on Monday for the cleaning. They have some fancy ultrasound cleaner thing. I'm all excited thinking no use of that nasty pokey scratchy tool. HA maybe if you go every 6 months like your suppose to, the ultrasonic thing works...not for these teeth. I got the pleasure of getting that nasty tool used on my teeth.
Had an appointment the 16th at 8:30 to start the fillings. They called Wednesday night said they had a cancellation for Thursday- do I want it..sure why not.
I got 2 of those fancy white fillings. 1 was basically a reconstruction of a molar, he removed 3 metal colored fillings and replaced it with that white stuff, then did one of my canines that had broken at the gum line. 5 shots of the good stuff in my jaw, and I didnt feel a thing. Honestly, i didnt feel the needle thanks to the stuff he rubbed on my gum first.
So I still have this appointment for Monday- I have on my upper canine one of those white fillings thats 'leaking' and they believe there to be a cavity under it. Lovely. So he'll sandblast that thing off on Monday repair it and then put another white filling over it.
After that I'm out of dental insurance....However, because i have a wisdom tooth, and 3 other's to be extracted, they can refer to me to an oral surgeon and it will be covered under some other part of the policy. Once these 4 teeth are removed, I will have to get a partial on my lower left since my canine will be the last tooth on that side. Insurance of course, doesnt cover that, so my income taxes will.
When all is said and done, i will have had 4 teeth pulled, and 7 fillings- either new cavities being filled, or replacements of fillings I had years ago, that he's replacing with white ones. It's pretty cool, because i smoked for so long, and am a coffee addict, my teeth are not bright white. He matched the white filling to the shade my teeth are...wicked...
Even though I still hate the dentist, I kinda like this guy, and the oral surgeon will be knocking my butt out before he starts ripping and tearing so I'm sure I'll still like him when he's done too!
