An unexpected check from IRS

I checked the PO box today and there was a check for $714 from the IRS!!! DW and I had filed and paid our taxes, thinking we owed money. I am not too excited yet; a note said an explanation would follow. I have never heard of the IRS sending $ that people did not file for. Anyone else experience anything like this? Think the money is really ours? Should we plan a WDW trip for sometime over the next few weeks?

I had one of those windfalls once - followed about three weeks later by a fat bill that took it all away!! I think I ended up with about $100, but not the nice check I first thought!!! I think I had made some kind of mistake in figuring something. I'd hold off on that trip for now...

What year is the refund from?????
I once had the State of NY send me a refund 2 years after I had paid!

It is supposed to be from this year. I called my MIL (who is our tax preparer) and she had no professional explanation for it.

As for the trip... it seems so tempting to put a few coins with this check and make a nice week for me, DW, and the kids.
