An Open Letter to VMK Staff

VMK Staff ,
Please take a look at what you are doing to this game. When I first started playing,it was fun and exciting to log on. There were host games to play, regular host quests, Prizes in the arcade games worth having, reasonably well thought out ride a thons and even downloadable games that gave decent prizes and didnt load your PC with Spyware. Now fast forward to the present. Packs of people camping out in rooms just waiting in hopes a host will come by, people being ruder and ruder by the minute and nothing being done about it, players making up false room names just to generate interest in their rooms, and long time players becoming bored and frustrated with the whole process. Just take a look at the 40+ messages on the first page of this forum, that cite the "Gimme Gimme Gimme mentality" shown by some players in VMK. Is that the feeling that VMK wants to encourage?

I realize that like everything else, VMK must evolve in order to survive, but is it necessesary to get rid of what made VMK great in order for it to evolve? How about bringing back some of the "Disney Magic" to VMK and remember the things that made VMK great in the past. As much as I hate to say it, all ok the actions taken by the creators of VMK in the last few months seem indicate that VMK has either run out of ideas or is in a holding pattern until they can announce that VMK is closing.

I know that the creators and staff have wonderful imaginations and talent, but urge them to step up and show it to us once again. I also realize that running an "online world" is not the easiest thing to do and i have tremendous respect for what they have done. I just urge them to remember that change just for changes sake is not always good.

So PLEASE. .....BRing the Magic back to VMK

Well said my favorite gnome. My feelings exactly and I only hope that is what came across in my report about the room award.

I was in no way being greedy. I give away way more than I keep.

Right now my inferno( yes I got it back), stitch and other very valuable items are out on loan or gifted away.

I could care less in the long run whether I get any of the Dream items as they are not trade able something I hate by the way.

Just Bring back the magic VMK

I would agree that you do give much more away than you keep. You are a very generous player who makes dreams come true for everybody all of the time. I have posted on the Dis for a much longer time than I have played VMK (once under a different Dis name which I no longer remember) and upon my first few posts on the VMK forum, while trying to figure out why my first VMK character was deleted, you ran to my rescue. You are much sweeter, more thoughtful and randomly generous than any virtual VMK dream team.

So I guess that makes lol.... I wasn't here at the begining ..but I joined over a year half ago..and I just loved it. It was fun...exciting..there was host games in which we we would get items that were new and wanted. There were Quest..oh yes some were hard and some were really hard..but then we loved it bc at the end we got a really cool NEW item ..not one we coul buy. In ws just fun to hurry home and get on vmk!!! Now there is no disney magic.
Its not fun.. I am not even on as much anymore..why? There relly isn't much to do on vmk. As for the dream stuff.. I tried over the week end and got nothing.. I am not going to go from room to room that is just silly. besides.. i was where Phin was and she talked to me and then left..never gave anythign. So I say... bring back our VMK.. please..

The last time I remember being excited about VMK was Halloween of last year. I don't know what happened after that but I just got bored with the game. I still like to check in a see what's going on. I log in every now and then to see friends and to keep my accounts active. I'll probably check out the playing card game when it launches just to see what that's all about.

Do you think I'm going to spend hours sitting in a room waiting for a host come gift me some random stuff? I don't think so.

My guess is that VMK is trying to take the greed factor out of the game. They are making it difficult to collect stuff. That seems counter-intuitive when the stuff in question are collectible objects like pins. Still, greed is a major problem in the game. The answer is to re-release "rare" so that they are devalued, make objects non-tradeable and to distribute new items in a manner that prevents people from hoarding them. I think VMK is strategically moving the game back to more of a social activity. If I'm right then people who have invested a lot of their time in building up piles of stuff are likely to keep getting burned. It's bits and pixels people. Easy come easy go!

So what was it that made VMK so great before? Was it host games? What is the stuff? Was it the cards, VMK central? Is it just too crowded now? Is there something pro-active that we can do to bring it back independent of what the hosts do?

When ppl say "bring back the magic" or "vmk has lost its magic", I have to confess, I have NO IDEA what that really means.

For me, playing VMK has always been about having fun with my friends - it's never been about trading or collecting or host games, etc.. That hasn't changed since I began playing. My friends are still as AWESOME as ever, and that is what makes VMK so very magical to me.

As long as I have my friends, VMK will always be a truly magical place.

(Oh, and GNOME, so good to see you post!! Miss you on VMK!)

I agree, VMK needs to work harder to keep the site feeling like Disney. Also, they don't retire anything anymore. (I'm thinking of those waterpark costumes most of all! Waterparks month AND summer have ended already!) I miss being able to buy the new items and know that someday they might be rare.
