An odd question about AKL suites.

Carriep1657, thanks for the info regarding your HA suite. The master bathrooms in both of the AKL suites that I stayed in were HUGE. It sounds like that was the case with your suite, too. I wish you had photos to post of it because I would be interested in seeing how much larger the doorways were in your suite vs. the suites that I stayed in. (I’m a sucker for detail.) I should note that the second bedroom in our suite could also be locked off from the rest of the suite, and that it, too, did not have a “room” number assigned to it, just like your suite.

I think you definitely need another AKL suite stay so that you can compare and contrast the standard suites vs. the HA suites. When your family asks you why, just tell them that you’re on a mission for God (okay, for the Dis!). ;)

Janet2K, you are up late. It's late here and I'm in California.

I just went to look at your pics from the 2 bdrm suite and noticed that you also did not have a room number on the 2nd bdrm. I also went to look at your bathroom pics to see if I could tell anything about the size. I could tell that your suite also had a huge master bath. The only difference that I really could tell was with the shower.

I went back to post that little bit of additional info and there was your post. :)

I hadn't realized that ducklite had been in a HA suite at AKL. I look forward to seeing her pics.

Carriep1657, like you, I live on the West Coast. I just got on my computer about 15 minutes ago to read some e-mail, and I thought I would pop into the Dis for a bit, too.

I know I don't have many photos posted of the second bedroom, but do you think your suite's second bedroom and my suite's second bedroom were the same size? What was the bedding configuration in your second bedroom? Did it also have the bunk beds, queen-size bed, and sofa sleeper?

Janet, I didn't realize that you were on the West Coast. I wonder if I knew that and I had just forgotten. I did the same as you, I got on line to check a few e-mails before bed and wandered over here. It's now more than an hour later.

I looked at the pics of your 2nd bedroom. I could tell that yours was bigger but I wondered if that was just due to the fact that yours was on the 5th floor while ours was on the 3rd. We also had the bunks and queen bed configuration. We didn't have the sofa sleeper. There was a chair and a table in that spot. The table was right next to the armoire and the chair was right up against the curtains. There may have been a lamp behind the chair too.

It also looked like there was more room between the wall and the bunks in your room. We could fit between the wall and the bunks but you had to walk sideways and you were basically brushing the wall with your backside and the beds with your front. Were yours that tight? In your pics it looks a bit more roomy than that.

I wonder how much larger the deluxe rooms are than the standards. It seems like they might be about 5 feet longer than the others.

Carriep1657, you hit the nail on the head. I had forgotten that rooms on different floors can sometimes be different in size – that would definitely account for the difference in size between the two suites’ second bedrooms. My second bedroom was a "deluxe" one.

I don’t remember much about the second bedroom, as my two children slept in there and it was deemed “off-limits” to my husband and me (kids, sheesh!). I do remember being concerned that my young daughter would fall out of the top bunk since she squirms when she sleeps (luckily, she didn’t do that). My guess is that it was probably a bit of a squeeze between the bunk beds and the wall, but maybe since my second bedroom was a deluxe one, there might have been an extra inch or two in my suite as opposed to yours. Photos would show that better. Remember to take them on your upcoming reconnaissance mission, if you choose to accept it. ;)
