An obsessive planner's 2nd annual Once-in-a-lifetime trip CANCELLED :( 3/22

Yes, it's a Landry's card, so you can use it at any Landry owned restaurant (RFC is one of them) but, it takes a while to get all those points and about 3 weeks to get the card, I believe (I'll let you know, I have one on the way) so get to it! :goodvibes

I have the account set up and used the link you sent me- you should have gotten some referral points out of that. :confused3

I think I only get the referral points after you spend 20$ thru one of their merchants, but I don't care about that!

Go to the website and click on easy points. There will be a bunch of pages/sites that you sign up for (mostly junk mail and newsletters) and you'll get points for those. They also have some profile questions to fill out, you will get some for those. That's why I told you to make the other email, b/c you'll get lots of junkmail from these things you sign up for. :p It will tell you on the page how many points you have. You can also print coupons and get points when you use them at the store, I'm bad with coupons, so I never do those. And, look at their merchants, if you click thru them to any of their listed stores (target, old navy, home depot, etc) when you are planning on already getting something at one of those places, then you get points for every dollar you spend. I only do this when I'm already planning to purchase something.

I think it depends on whether you care more about food or atmosphere. While Rainforest and Planet Hollywood both have extensive menus, I don't think the food is spectacular. It's fine but nothing outstanding. The other thing is that neither of those restaurants is unique to Disney. In my mind that makes them "less special." T Rex also has an extensive menu but, again, not spectucular food. Noisy, interesting atmosphere to entertain kids.
I've heard the food at Rose and Crown is eh but the location is cool. How disappointed will you be if you choose it and then get a lousy seat for Illuminations??? I've hear Sci-Fi is cool but the food only so-so. From the reviews I've read, Cape May will have the best food of any place you mentioned. We ate there for breakfast and enjoyed it. If we were staying at BC next time, I would choose it for dinner.

Thanks- I'll have to spend more time exploring it. Jace's birthday is coming up so I'll definately have to see if I can get points for any of his gifts! :)

I hadn't really given it much thought before you asked but I think I'm looking more for atmosphere than food, mostly because the kids won't anything that's too far out of their comfort zone so anyplace where I could get something really special probably wouldn't have the burgers or pizza the two of them would want.

I hadn't even considered that we might get bad seating for Illuminations at Rose and Crown. I'd be VERY disappointed as this would really be my main reason for choosing it.

I know the kids would love T-Rex and RFC but I think I'm going to try to do those on our other trips this year.

So I guess that leaves Cape May and Sci-fi. I think I'm leaning toward Sci-fi just for the atmosphere. I think both kids would really enjoy it. I'd really like to try the clam bake because I love seafood but the kids would probably have more fun at Sci-fi. :thumbsup2

Yep, for atmosphere, it rocks! And it's a great place to escape the heat of the day as well! (you'll love the pics you get too!) ;)

I could've SWORN I subbed to your PTR already! Oh well, I'm here now...and you're already on page 4?!? :lmao: Well, I'm all caught up.

So cool that Jace is doing well on that flash game site! How cool would it be if Chip has played one of his games? :thumbsup2 Chip is focusing on animation right now. It is wonderful to see kids take such a strong interest in something and then actually pursue it.

That is awesome that you got that 35% PIN! Woo hoo for booking! :cheer2:

About the dining, I think Sci Fi is a good choice too. I want to go there on my Winter trip - mostly for the atmosphere. I think the kids will really enjoy it. The kids and I went to Cape May on our 2008 trip. I really enjoyed it! The kids liked putting the food in the buckets  but for some reason, they didn't care for any of the seafood and they love seafood :confused3 They ended up filling up on the ribs. Go figure  So my vote is Sci Fi too

Hey Erin! Welcome to Hope's PTR! I thought I would tell you that I started reading your PTR yesterday, but haven't finished yet! :goodvibes

Hi Erin! I agree that its great to see kids pursue their interests. I pretty much hang my whole parenting philosophy on helping them find their passions so when I see it actually working I feel validated. :rotfl:

I'm still excited about that PIN code. I wouldn't swear to it because last time I was so focused on FD that I may have ignored it but I think this might have been the first PIN code I've ever gotten- and it was a great one! :woohoo:

Yep, I think I've pretty much settled on Sci-fi. It just seems like something the kids would really enjoy and it fits in nicely with our DHS day since there's not a ton of stuff on our "must" list for that park. :thumbsup2

Ugh, can't sleep again. I figure if I'm up I might as well be on the Dis, right. :thumbsup2

I don't think I mentioned the other day that we are very excited that Phinneas and Ferb are coming to DHS!!:banana: This is Jace's FAVORITE Disney show and he is so happy that they'll finally be in the parks. They've gone on our "must" list.

Yep, I've started a "must do" list for each park and for DTD. They're not very comprehensive at this point so I'm not sharing yet but just for fun I thought I'd share one thing from each park and from DTD and then maybe you guys could share yours. :cheer2:

So, here goes...

Magic Kingdom: We have lots of things that will go on our final list but one of the biggies is Carousel of Progress because we didn't get to see it last time and Jace was really disappointed.

Epcot: Soarin! I :love::love: this ride and so does Kya!

DHS: Besides meeting Phinneas and Ferb we also MUST see Lights, Motor, Action! this time. Rain and long lunch lines kept us from seeing it last time and again, Jace was disappointed (poor guy, it seems like his stuff was always what didn't work out). :sad2:

AK: I guess I'm going to go with Kali River Rapids on this one. Only because IF we do go to this park (it's a big if at this point because Jace and I are both fine with skipping it) it will be just so Kya can ride Kali. We'll do other stuff of course since we'll already be there but the fact that Kya thinks she MUST ride this is the main reason we'll bother with AK. :confused3

DTD: I'm sure the kids will have their own musts but mine will be trying the Sangria at Pollo Campero. :rolleyes1

So that's a little sneak peak of our musts and why- what are yours??

Our musts: I have LOTS of musts that are my fav's, but here are the musts that we've missed previously that I want to make sure we get to!

MK-Space Mountain! First time we went with M.A. she thought the girls wouldn't want to and we just didn't get to it. Second trip it was closed.

AK-Flights of Wonder. The guys didn't see this on our last trip and even though Savannah & I saw it in 2008, I want to see it again.

EP-Kim Possible! I'm on a mission to show Savannah what fun World Showcase can be...it's her least favorite park b/c she thinks there's not enough rides. It's probably b/c most times we are exhausted by the time we get to Epcot and we have missed a lot of FW too. I think KP will win her over!

DHS-Tower of Terror. Yes, that's right, I think I'll take the plunge. In 2009 I just stood there and looked at it and walked away. I don't like drops, so if I do go, it should be interesting! If I can run a 5K, I can do ToT, right??? :scared1:

:scared1: ToT!!

You left off DTD but I know it's those cupcakes that you're looking forward to there. :thumbsup2

YESYESYES! Vegan cupcakes! Mmmm! :cloud9: AND, if we stay onsite, really looking forward to the boat ride from POR to DTD a couple times! :thumbsup2

LOVE the new ticker, btw!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks, it was not my first choice however. I had picked one similar to yours (completely w/o realizing it was like yours, lol) but it was a different color. However part of the html code for it contained f u k (w/o the spaces of course) and the DIS kept editing it as a banned word. :lmao::lmao:
