An Mumbling Jumba inspired idea: I.C.E.

Hi everyone. Let me introduce myself. My name is Matt, betterwise known as Pokemon_Master. Some of you know me, some of you don't. If you've been on the WPASADI side of things, you certainly know me. :thumbsup2

An idea from the UK community came about thanks to Mumbling Jumba, so I thought it wise to share the idea with you in case any of you wanted to start your own. But first, let me start from the begining.

When MJ died, as you all know, I created a tribute page on my profile, and alerted the UK community that he had died. Admittidly, they had absolutley no clue who MJ actually was since they have never met him, but they still provided a lot of :wizard:

and

s for Evil Genius (and to a lesser extent, myself as well).

After reading my Tribute page, everyone got thinking over their. MJ had lots of friends and not to mention EG looking out for him, but many people on the DIS had absolutely no clue what they would do if they died suddenly. Of course they have their own private arrangements for things like the funeral, but they had no clue how they would tell the DIS. The families knew that they spent time here, but they wouldn't necessarily come on here to go and tell you all that they had passed on.

Hence, someone came up with I.C.E. It stands for "In Case of Emergancy". This is how it works, from the original mouth that suggested it:

The point of this thread is so that you pair up with someone else so you have a point of contact with the DIS in case anything happens to you.
This is not official DIS business and they are in no way responsible for any contact that comes out of this

1, post below if you want to be 'buddied up'
2, I will match you with someone else
3, you pm each other with details of home address, telephone numbers, email addresses, any personal info you see fit
(this info is entirely confidential and you do not pass it on to ANYONE else)
4, you then add your 'buddies' home details to your home address book/computer/mobile, whatever you want so that someone can let the DIS know if anything serious happens to you.

This is not obligatory, do not feel pressured into doing this, its just here in case, like me, you feel no one would know if something happened to you.

I didn't start this but I thought it'd be good for some food for thought for you guys. Perhaps you could start your own thread and manage it that way?
