An Invasion of a "STRANGER" Kind.... NEW THREAD IS UP!! Go Thee NOW!

Oh my! Tate sportin' a thong... :rotfl:

It's a frightening thing- but oh, so funny!! :lmao:

Hopefully with TOP dressed like that, she... ummm I mean he...ahhhh I mean SHIM, doesn't get too many advances from drunks trying to drink around the World! :lmao:

S/he might have to do some sumo moves on them- unless he's a hot Italian, right Rosie??! :rotfl2:

Dead ahead of you as you enter- the USA Pavilion. It's centered because it symbolically plays host to the other nations represented in World Showcase. Did you know it was originally slated to come first, at the front of WS?

I contemplated long and hard about what a shopper might score there, but sadly came up with nada, nothing, zero, nul!!!! First, I thought maybe a small replica of the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution. They apparently sell for about $2.00, but what would I do with those?? I could get them both and double frame them and hang them in our new house. :confused3

Who needs a little Lady of Liberty trinket?? I don't think so. By the way, I"m not getting an Eiffel Tower in France either.

A Native American dream catcher?? My 7 year old makes these all the time. Forget it.

A baseball? Don't "do" sports. Cowboy hat? A picture with one on will do.

I just really, really am stumped on this one. I thought I'd be stumped on Germany too, but my faithful and trusty DISFriends came through for me and gave me oodles of great ideas. Let me have them, or I'll have to "go without know". Remember: It needs to be an everyday, useful item that costs between $2-$5. Preferrably non-edible and not dripping with Disney. Whatcha think??

Hi back at ya, Rosie!!! It'll be nice when you get your own modem fixed so you can hang out more with us!!

No clue on this one, Liesa....now isn't that helpful? We can try to scope it out if we have time though! I hope you have a great weekend

Ha! My weekend is half over. I won't be on the computer tomorrow, but today was a great day! I worked quite a bit on my planning/ trip note journals, printed out some of our window decorations (I'll post pix on Monday), and basically did up an intinerary for our trip. Since we tweaked our dates just a little, a new one had to be made. :lmao:

Yeah, the US shops are going to be bleak I fear. :confused3

Okay, your trip is still 6 months out..how exactly is it that you have more done than I do?? LOL. You had a productive day...I can't wait to see the window clings :goodvibes:

I"ve had well over a year to stew, fantasize, dream, and otherwise obsess over my trip. :rotfl2:

They are clings per se, but rather some lettering that I'll tape on with some 3-D effects for kicks and giggles. :wizard: The window decoration godmother is doing her magic. :rotfl:

I can understand why the American Pavilion would be tough. Personally, I like the idea of a copy of the Declaration and Constitution to frame. We have a copy of the Declaration that was given to us, but it's all rolled up and not very appealing to look at anymore.

Looks like you have your battle plan for the resorts figured out! Can't wait to see how you decide to raid the parks.
I love the idea of getting a small little knick-nack in each world showcase country.:thumbsup2
Wow, that's really going around the world to get the 7 dwarf pressed pennies. It does sound fun. I'm trying to plan in a few visits to resorts for May. So far, I planned POR and all the Epcot resorts.
I can't wait to see Mr(s). Potato head's no wardrobe! I was dropping Amy of at the kids' club at the gym the other day and I saw a potato head stripped down to just his angry eyes. I might of muttered under my breath "Oh no, you poor thing. Woody will come rescue soon.":rolleyes1

I had planned on doing one of our rooms in our new house with a semi-patriotic theme, so it might fit...:confused3

It's all coming together very nicely!! Plans are even being laid out as we speak! :woohoo::dance3:

Okay, it took a minute before I figured out what Tate was dressed for in the pic. Her, um, undergarment, looks a wee bit more like a sumo wrestler's diaper than it does a (can I say this?) thong. But then I thought, well of course, a gender-bender like Tate has to leave us wondering, right? She could be a sumo wrestler, he might be a pole dancer - its all in your interpretation!

:lmao:
Yeah... pasties. Remember those from prom?? I confess, nothing else was gonna do the trick, so I utilized.

I can honestly say I have never tried those!

Ok, On to the good old USA. Do the Voices of Liberty have a CD? That's about all I can even think of!

:lmao:

They work "wonders"!!

I had thought of that, but have heard on a couple of people's TRs that they looked and couldn't find one. I will look to and hope I can; I LOVE VoL!!!!

I'm glad you're dates are firming up!:thumbsup2

I wish I had known you were looking for souvies around the WS...I could have done some re-con for you.

all I got for you is an american flag...weak I know....

Liesa-
I found a little gem for ya! ;)

http://www.disneytravelagents.com/S...pdf/ParkHours/WDW_Operating_Calendar_Sept.pdf

Don't know how accurate it is but I've used one like this in the past and it was right. Oh yea.. it is the September park hours. :thumbsup2

Going to look first thing tomorrow morning; this is just a drive by posting. If it's truly the Sept. hours, I"ll surely leak a little!

Welcome back. I wondered if you'd be back to your posting yet.

I tried to ask Cherie, via her thread, but I don't think she was checking much. It's ok, part of the fun will be the hunt. :goodvibes

I think I can find flags at Target.

hey Tim,

I had found last year's Sept. hours either here or at allears (I can't remember where) and had just gone with those for our first shot at a schedule. Hope I've come close, cuz to have to have Mary change around a bunch of ADRs will be a big pain in the rear end for her!

Hopefully, Spectro, EMHs, Wishes and all that will stay the same. And i hope by then they'll have added some more Fantasmic!

Troop transport is another of those complex and constantly evolving facets of the military. Obviously, we’ve come a long way from sailing ships, horse backs, and even the more creative transportations such as dirigibles, or the most arduous- by foot. There are so many ways to get an army from one place to another, and one can surmise that the top brass everywhere, all over the world, sit around in strategic planning rooms for hours, day after day, trying to discern the best, most cost-efficient and timely methods to get troops to where they need to be, as quickly as possible.

This weekend was very much the same for Soldier #1. Now, I know exactly what pains must be taken to keep to the dictated budget; how stress-inducing pushing the “buy now” button can be; and how painful the repercussions can be if the plans have to be changed. The options were not few in number, and with D-Day having been determined, the time was ripe to make some decisions. Seriously, when the one who can give ultimate permission to invade and conquer (DH), one must act, and act quickly!!!

Do you think military analysts and decision makers read the fine print?? I sure had to!!! Here’s what I found out about my flight:

WHICH I BOOKED!!!!!!

1) Air Tran charges $6 to pre-choose your seat (which I didn’t).

2) They also charge $15 for the first checked bag (I’ll have one).

3) There is a $75 fee to change (I shouldn’t have to)

4) With what I just told you above, one must assume that even peanuts will be a luxury that they may just charge me a mandatory fee to look at.

So there you have it!! I booked the first leg of my trip from Washington Dulles to Orlando.

HUH?!! I know you are asking just WHY I booked it from Dulles to Orlando. This is a very good question! Here’s the scooper-roo. I will drive up to D.C. with my Bowling Green sister on the 30th- the day my family leaves for Portland, to visit my D.C. sister for a few days. Then on the 2nd, I’ll take off from there for the beginning of my trip. I’ll tour mostly solo from the 2nd- 5th. Mary will show up sometime on the 3rd, but we’ll both mostly do our own thing, and meet for some meals.

Wanna know how much I paid?? $80.70!!! Can you believe it?? One way for $81. I think that’s a phenomenal deal. And you know what? Even if it isn’t, I was ready to buy. I wanted it to be final and done. And now it is.

(The return trip to Portland will have to be a coordinated effort between LeeAnn and I since we'll want to fly together. I have my eye on one flight for $157, but she wants to look at it before we buy. I'll only need a one way, but she'll need a r/t ticket. Hopefully we'll book that tomorrow or the next day. Anyone ever flown Continental?)

So, in short, for $81, I settled the arrival time of my first day in Disney- 10:30AM. Did you read that??!! I have a whole day all to myself. Now, what would you do if you had a whole day to dink around
All.
To.
Yourself???

Give us your PERFECT solo day!!

Also, tell me everything you know about Air Tran. I can still use Magical Express, right??

I know you are anxious to buy but I really think you can get the Portland leg down. RT for us for August is showing $357 as the best price so what you seeing is decent but as it gets closer I think $120 is absolutely achievable.

Flights have consistently been running $220-250 within 3-4 months of the travel dates, just more further out and that was true over the summer so we are sitting on it until at least late April, probably early may.

Now is $30 worth the stress of waiting for one leg for you? probably not. But for LeAnn it'd be $60 so....just a thought.

The other thing is too I bet Alaska has a non stop to Portland, you might want to check on that.

MY perfect solo day would be during the Flower and Garden Festival, at the World Showcase.

Sigh.

Read my TR !!!:lmao: I like to check in and get a little settled in my room and then head to Epcot after eating lunch at Pop!!!I always feel I AM HOME when I see that Huge Golf Ball !! The wonderful thing about being SOLO is you can set your own pace, choose what you want to do !! I loved taking the time for several of the films at Epcot in the World Showcase !! I watched them Jordan slept :lmao::lmao:My favorite was in France !! It sorta felt like Soarin' !!
As for souvenirs .. In Japan I bought with Jordans input "Rice Candy" it was very good according to the kids who were impressed by being able to eat the inside wrapper !!:rotfl2: China has the LUCKY CATS which are under $4 !!I too would have done RECON. if I knew !!!!
