I've been having some health issues lately, i've been to the docotors numberous times and everything checks out ok. I stumbled on this this article online, and wanted to know what you guys thought:

http://www.virusmyth.com/aids/hiv/sblubejob.htm

I mean docotors don't diagnose chemical posioning...think I could have absorbed some of these toxins? What do you use in your personal life and have you noticed any ill effects? I realize that this may be a touchy/personal subject, but when our health is called into question it must be explored.

Thanks guys!

Few, if any, posters on these boards are qualified to give medical advice. This type of conversation should definately be held with a medical professional.

As for the article, it seems a bit absurd to me. To suggest that AIDS is not caused by HIV, and is instead caused by lube just seems a bit silly.

Doctors aren't qualified either. And i'm not asking for medical advice. I'm simply asking for opinions, and if anyone felt concerned by the chemicals that are absorbed into their bodies. Put the AIDS thing aside, do you think lubes and all the chemicals they contain, are harmful to your health?

Think of all the chemicals you ingest EVERY single day...trust me, I think any sort of lubrication is the least of your concern.

Also, in the words of a very wise professor: "Correlation is not causation"

Not a doctor. Since you asked for opinions all that follows is simply that. :charac2:

A) the article is complete tripe! Guano even... One can not seriously consider anything from anyone who questions the existance of the HIV Virus (some tolerance must be given for questioning causality in the name of science but the existance???? :headache:)

B) Within the first section there are many many MANY very provable objective fallacies (not to be confused with the much superior phalluses ). As an example, AIDS is highly transimitted within the heterosexual community - world wide thus one the 3rd of the major failings in the accepted HIV theory is invalid (not this point is a lynchpin for invalidating viral linkage). His 4th shows either a complete ignorance of pathogous or a purposeful attempt to decieve (there are nearly no known diseases of viral or any other origin that follow an exact trajectory in any large population).

So before I really get rolling on this rant, to summarize this article is at best sad and far more likely dangerous. :furious:

The problem is that you are asking us to set aside the entire point of the article. If we decide that the article is largely innacurate, as most are viewing it, then everything he says is suspect. Including the part about absorbing toxins from lube.

We face more toxins from fast food and soda every day than from any sort of lube....

And dont a lot of straight people use lube also? How does this figure in the gay factor in the early times of AIDS? :confused3

Good grief. That is pure garbage, the article I mean. :sad2:

As for lube, when traveling recently with some family members, my Aunt had a tube of KY on the nightstand. Now, I DO NOT want to know why, but just sayin'.

Don't be sucked into gay bashing, and stereotyping regardless the guise or foil.

How is a doctor not qualified to give medical advice :confused3

I think the article is a bunch of bunk.
toxins are all around us, everywhere.
not going to comment on the use of lube by heteros :)

The article is from 1997. I would hope there is a lot more current info available.

Tell me about it MAF. She was sharing a room with her sister, not that that has a thing to do with it, but sheesh. LOL.

Honestly, it would seem if AIDS were caused by exposure to members of the Benzene chain or other chemical toxins, chemists would have died from exposure, whether they were straight, gay, male or female. Researchers in labs work with, and inhale, vapors of those chemicals daily, even with full vents running.

Petrochemical engineers don't seem to be at a higher risk of AIDS or any other major health issues, including cancer, than the general population. Even in the best labs, accidents happen and people are sprayed with industrial solvents occasionally. And those solvents are much stronger than anything in personal use lubricants.

You wanna' try for 20 times worse? She used to be a nun. :thumbsup2

Out of all the chemicals we put into our body, I will never give up my deodorant/anti-perspirant chemical combo!!!!!! I hope no one else gives it up either!!

I have been pondering this for the past several days.

I have been volunteering with AIDS clients since 1994. My personal physician is an HIV specialist, the agency I volunteer with runs an AIDS clinic that participates in many clinical trials. I keep up with the disease because I have friends who are living with AIDS.

Now, with no formal medical training I must say I do NOT think there is any way HIV or AIDS is in any way linked to lube, or any other chemical.

If it were, I do NOT think it would spread from person to person. I am relatively sure lead poisoning isn't sexually transmitted, so I would tend to think this wouldn't be, either.

The DNA and rNA replication alone removes it from a correlation with the chemicals. The article is not valid, nor is it based on valid scientific study. The age of it alone makes it suspect. One of the drawbacks of the internet. No one cleans it up.

I guess my real concern was not of AIDS, what I was getting at is, do you think these lube chemicals are aborbed and affect the body in any way?

Ya gotta pick your battles and worries! :confused3

If you knew what was in a large popcorn and diet coke bought on Main Street, you would never eat that again!
