So my gf and I will be going back to Disney (Went to Grand Floridian over a year ago) , this time to take advantage of the Fall rates.

We planned on staying 5 nights at the Contemporary as a the monorail is a must for us and in an effort to save as much money as we can, they have the best rates. So I just saw that all their standard rooms have recently been booked for this length of stay.

I can shorten the trip to 4 nights and stay there, lowering costs further, or switch to the Poly for an extra $140 from our original plan.

So here in lies the question, Has anyone made reservations for a shortened stay, only hoping you booked an extra day once you arrived? Is 4 nights enough....Pretty torn on this :confused3 Thanks!

I would rather stay at the Poly for the full time and pay the extra $140. I'm all about the extra night!!

I think 4 nights is enough for quick getaway :goodvibes. We are considering a quick 4 night trip right before Christmas if we can do it with work/school schedules. With that said, the Poly is our favorite resort (haven't stayed at the CR) and if I could get 5 nights at the Poly for only $140 more, I would definitely switch. But if the CR is the resort you really want to stay at, I'd book the 4 nights and keep checking on that extra night as people cancel all the time and you never know when/if it might become available. You could also try adding a night to the beginning and end of your dates and see if the CR shows availability. If it does, you could book the longer stay and later take away the nights you don't need. Good luck and have a great trip :wizard:.

Thanks guys :wave2: Im not set on the CR at all, it was simply that it was cheaper than the GF and Poly. I've been to both the GF and Poly previously and had a great time at both!

Such a tough decision. I'm even debating whether to save some extra money over the next few months and make it a full week! Decisions Decisions:hourglass

Have you checked availability for, say, a 6-night stay at CR? Some DIS-ers report that if they can't get the length of stay they want, they book an extra day or two, then call back later and have the extra days removed. That works best if you're booking a room-only reservation, as the change and cancellation requirements are less strict than for packages.
