We have rented points and booked into BWV for Jan 07 but with a party of five in a studio... we are in the process of adopting a little girl and are not sure if she will be with us then or not. I don't want to change our ressies not knowing, but I also want to be able to get her on the ressie if we need to- can we squeeze 3 kids and a little one under 3 in a studio? Will we be able to get resort id for her?
Thanks
jd

Some studios accommodate the fifth person (child on the little day bed - emphasis on little), but if I'm understanding you correctly, you're talking about adding a sixth? That would go above the occupancy limit for the room, I'm afraid. You'd need a 2 BR.

Occupancy for a studio is four plus one under the age of three. You have one too many people to stay in a studio. You would have to have the DVC owner of the points sell you a reservation for a one bedroom instead.

Right, I forgot about the "under 3" thing...however, a 1 BR only accommodates 4 (not sure about the child under 3 thing).

Member Services will allow five in a one bedroom, but they will not provide any extra bedding or linens.

But it sounds like they may have SIX. In which case, they'll need a two bedroom. They'll unofficially allow five, they won't allow five plus one under three.

I did some searching on this last night. I was unaware of the change. Is there an official word on this somewhere or is it still just what people heard from word of mouth?

This is not a change....It has been ever thus. When I had to change a ressie for NYE last year, I couldn't get the needed 2 bedroom for our five adults for that one night. I had originally booked a studio for 4 of us, but a 5th decided to come along. I had a 2 bedroom booked for the rest of the two weeks, but needed to accommodate the 5 in a studio for just that one night. They would NOT allow it. They did, however, allow me to do the 5 in a 1 bedroom without extra bedding provided. We brought along an air matress for that one night and moved to the 2 bedroom the next day.

FYI, our chart was flagged at check-in to warn that we had asked about 5 in a 1 bedroom, and we were chastised by the check-in guy about it, even though we had changed to a 1 bedroom for that one night and were changing to a 2 bedroom the rest of the trip. I suspect you will NOT be allowed to do 6 in a studio, even if 2 of them are under 3.

Oh, and I would not WANT to for more than a night anyway! WAAAYYYY too crowded!

The OPs question has been answered, and the thread will be closed. If you wish to continue the discussion, I invite you to the Occupancy Thread
