An Evolution Question...

DH and I were watching a comedian on the Comedy Channel a couple nights ago, and one of her jokes was thought provoking...
if humans came from monkeys then why are there STILL monkeys around???

I mean, I don't believe we did come from monkeys...but for those who do believe that....then explain to me why there are still monkeys!!

The DNA split resulting in a new chain of species... just like their is chimps, gorilla's and other species that came from the monkey family.

Just like there are different species of fish, birds, etc, we are just a different species of primate that has taken a different evolutionary path than monkeys and apes.

Also, I don't think the official scientific view is that we "came from monkeys" but that our ancient ancestors were apelike mammals that gradually, over millions of years and through the process of natural selection, adapted to the environment.

I totally believe that we came from monkeys. If you want real proof, just try teaching school for a while. You'll never doubt that theory again . . .
