When DD7 was a toddler I made her a small autograph blankie, with a cotton Minnie print on one side and lightweight fleece on the other. I even sewed a little handle on it so we could attach it to her stroller, and a pocket so we could fold it into a pillow. We had the characters autograph it. We used it for two trips, when she was 2 and 4. She still treasures it; it's on her bed right now.

This time we're going to do an autograph pillowcase. I found a singly-packaged Cinderella pillowcase at WalMart for about $4. (They also had Tink.) I'll take a small piece corrugated cardboard to use as a hard surface, and have the characters autograph her pillowcase.

Just an idea as an alternative to the autograph book, which just sits on a shelf!

Great idea! We did this on our cruise and DD11 loves it. She keeps this on her bed and the autograph book from past trips is probably under the bed.

What a great idea! :thumbsup2 What kind of markers did you use?

We just used Sharpie on her blankie, and it's held up to plenty of washings. I need to find a bright pink Sharpie (TODAY!) for the pillowcase.

I used Sharpies too. I haven't washed it yet but everyone says they hold up well.

This is a great idea!!! I may have to reconsider the autograph book!

Awesome idea! I think thats great and would love to see a pic once you're back from your trip!

One thing we did on our last trip this past August was to autograph hats. The kids each had a baseball style hat (my boys were pirates and my dd was princess, from the disney store) and we used a sharpie marker. It worked great, they still wear them all the time, plus I didn't have to worry about carrying them, since they put it on every morning before we left for the parks. Kept the sun off their faces and was different. I love your pillowcase idea though for our next trip. I did want to do something different, so I may go with that!:goodvibes

I really like the idea of a pillowcase or cap. My DGS and DGD didn't care about the autograph book last visit.

We did t-shirts!

We used the multi colored sharpie pack and let the characters pick out their own color. Even though kids have out grown, the are worn by a stuffed animal on their bookshelves!

I used Sharpies too. I haven't washed it yet but everyone says they hold up well.

We used Sharpies on a t-shirt and they ran all over the place in the wash (not on other clothes, just all over itself). I was so disappointed b/c DD5 worked hard all week to get all her favorites to sign it. My advice, if you haven't washed it yet, DON'T. I am willing to try the pillowcase idea--we could use it as a decorative pillow.

Another idea for the OP: we used an embroidery hoop to hold the t-shirt in place and the characters all said that was the best idea they'd seen to hold the material in place so it doesn't slip. Good luck with however you decide to do it!:)

Hey what a great idea! We used a clipboard, but i know the embroidery hoop has got to work better. plus then the characters will sign in the area you want them too!

I was going to do t-shirts, but I love the pillowcase idea! I've had sharpies run on me, before, too. Maybe fabric paint pens would work better than sharpies? I'm sure that craft store must sell them in a multi-color pack, too.
