I've been bird watching for quite a while now but I've never seen anything quite like this. I just went outside to admire the thunderheads that are all around us. Well I was getting ready to go back in when I saw a flock of large birds. At the time I didn't know what they were but one of the photos showed me that they are Ibises.
It looked like they were trying to keep ahead of the storm but, as luck would have it, they were flying right toward me. So I snapped a couple of photos.
Then the strangest thing happened. Instead of moving on, they formed a circle pattern and flew around and around directly over where I was standing. They were only about 75 feet up. This went on for nearly 5 minutes!
It started to rain and I headed for the door. Only then did they move on. I feel like I had some sort of close encounter. This was so beautiful but really strange.

When they were off a ways, I also thought they were vultures but vultures are pretty hard to miss. They have huge black wings. I was going to give them my best Monty Python, "I'm not Dead" yell but then I saw they were something else.
