I started looking at itineraries and saw that Disney could start playing around with 7 night ports if they sailed another ship throughout the year on Caribbean itineraries (got to meet the passenger quota agreements!) I was looking at the 9 night Itinerary that the Fantasy is sailing this June as my basis for this day dream.

The Fantasy 7Night usually does some combination of St Thomas, Tortola, St Maarten, and Puerto Rico. Pick 2 as it were.

But based on the 9 night itinerary, the Fantasy could also reach Basseterre and maybe Antigua with the first 2 days being at sea. It would then be easy enough to make it to St Thomas or Tortola before a sea day and then ending at Castaway Cay before a night steam back to Canaveral.

It would at least provide some variety on the Eastern Itinerary for repeat cruisers who enjoy sea days.

We are on that upcoming 9 night and are so looking forward to some other eastern ports of call in lieu of the typical St thomas, st maarten, tortola and PR!

We did our first Disney cruise in 2001(honeymoon) on the Magic. We went to St. Maarten, St.Thomas, and CC. Didn't do another Eastern until 2018 on Wonder. Was suppose to go to St Maarten. San Juan, and CC. Storms by St. Maarten caused that port to be cancelled and we went to CC twice(I LOVED going to CC twice). 2019 we did the standard Tortola, St. Thomas, and CC on the Fantasy. All 3 if our Easterns were 7nights out of PC. Not sure why they don't add more variety. Hopefully when they get the new ships they will go to some different islands more often. I'd also love more Southern cruises more often throughout the year.

I wonder if part of it might be contracts with the St. Thomas and Tortola ports guaranteeing a certain number of port visits in exchange for preferential port fee pricing/preferential berthing priority?

We are on the 9-night in June. Martinique just got changed to St. Lucia yesterday (so it's back to being called a Southern). They said it's because Martinique now requires passports, but that's not new information. I wish it were going to Barbados or Puerto Rico instead of St. Thomas. We were on the 11-night Southern in 2011 and it was amazing.

We were on the 8 night in October and went to st. Kitts, Antigua, and San Juan. It was our favorite cruise. Loved going to different ports than the normal ones offered on the 7 nights. We were told that they were looking into using the fantasy for longer cruises when the Wish starts sailing. There is no need for 3 ships sailing the same routes in the caribbean out of port canaveral! We were very excited at the prospect of longer cruises.

Out of Miami, yes - but Disney being Disney is only going to try a well-proven itinerary. If you are going further south, you want to hit either St Lucia or Aruba - or the cruise won't sell well - holiday cruises notwithstanding.

Here is a 10-nighter that Celebrity routinely runs. You could sail out of Miami, drop Barbados, and use these gains to stop in CC on the way back. All inside 9 days.

Yes, it would be nice if they alternated longer itineraries with shorter itineraries out of Miami on the Magic! We just got back from our first cruise, a Southern Caribbean out of San Juan, and we had a great time and booked a placeholder but none of the itineraries in the Caribbean are looking very exciting to me right now. I’ve been looking at some of RCCL’s 8-10 night cruises out of Fort Lauderdale because the itineraries are just so much more interesting!

The 9 night that we are on in June on the Fantasy is similar to this. No Barbados but you get St. Thomas instead of St. Maarten................and we get Castaway Cay! We are so looking forward to it.
