So, has anyone ever done it? What places did you eat?

Even if you have never done it, if you were going to try it, where would you eat?

We have come pretty close to doing this once or twice...
Mexico CS, ABC Commissary, Flame Tree, Sunshine Seasons, Pinnochio Haus, and of course the good old stand-by.. McDonalds. These are just some of the places we enjoy. And for dessert the bakery in France is yummy yummy yummy!

We haven't done it before but we are going to try it this year, with two exceptions. We are having breakfast at Kona and dinner at Ohana once. Other than that we will have 8 days of counter services meals.

We love:
Cantina de San Angel Inn
Flame Tree BBA
Earl of Sandwich
Kringla Bakeri
Backlot Express

We will be trying:
Anandapur Yak & Yeti
Caseys
Pinnochio Haus
Counter Service at Japan, not sure of the name

We have others we want to try but I can't think of them off the top of my head. I have my list somewhere though and will try to update once I find it!

The Sunshine Season Food Court in Epcot is wonderful for CS. They have so much to choose from and the food is delicious!!:thumbsup2

Absolutely - many times! Some personal favorites...

MK
Columbia Harbor House
Pinnochio's Village Haus
Casey's

EP
Tangierine Cafe
UK fish n chips stand
Yakitori House
Boulangerie Patisserie
Sunshine Seasons

MGM
Toy Story Pizza
Backlot Express

AK
Pizzafari

We did this before free dining :rotfl: . The easiest place to do this is Epcot - most of the world showcase CS are good and Sunshine Seasons is wonderful. In MK, I'd try Columbia Harbor House (I thinkt that's what its called :goodvibes ) or Pinnochio Haus. Flame Tree in AK. DS would be the hardest for me. We usually use 2 TS credits there because we can't stand the CS. One time we did mostly CS, and a couple TS for lunch to save money (I think Sci-Fi Diner and LTT are affordable) and give us a break. The hardest part about doing all CS is not getting a real break from the heat and crowds. Its nice to sit in an air conditioned retaurant, rehydrate and enjoy each other. So, I would recommend that even if you're on a budget, you might want to consider adding an occasional TS lunch. You can check out the menus to see which ones are affordable.

Earl of Sandwich in DTD
Backlot in DHS (for the grilled veggie sandwich!)
Tangierine Cafe at Epcot
Flametree at AKL

sure did - when my DS and i used to go together years ago (single mom days) that was all we could afford - it took me years to save up for 5 nights at a value - TS wasn't in the budget then!!

we'd eat at Columbia Harbor House in the MK, the Land Food Court, the pizza place in MGM (AK wasn't open back then for us) - and of course, the food court at the resort - never bothered us, we're not picky!

We have always tried to do at least 1 or 2 TS but I would definately do an all counter service.

Here are our favorites

MK Columbia Harbour House & Pecos Bills
DS Pizza Planet & Rosie's All American
AK Flame Tree & Pizzasafari
Resort Food Courts

Places we want to try

MK Cosmic Rays
Epcot The WS counter services for the variety

we always do counter service with maybe 1 character meal. This year will be our first year with 5 ts meals, only because of free dining!

We had never eaten a table service meal in WDW until three years ago! The cost had always been prohibitive for us until we went during free dining, and saw how much nicer it was to have dinner in the parks than leaving and driving off-site or having a hotdog again. It sold us on the convenience, and now I pay for the DDP.

We usually eat the majority of our lunches in Epcot. SS and the World Showcase CS offer a lot of variety.

We eat at Cosmic Ray's in Tomorrowland a lot, and Columbia Harbor House offers a nice change of pace from burgers and fries as well.

AK has distinctive CS, too. Flame Tree is a big hit with most people, and Yak and Yeti seems to be very popular.

Don't overlook the resort quick service, either. We had time to kill before a flight last year, and went over to Pop Century to check it out. Their food court had TONS of stuff.

The last 2 years we were lucky to get the free dining. This year there was a right wing conspiracy conspiring against my budget because the free dining starts the day we leave!!! Da noive!! So as a result, I only booked 4 TS meals: the CP for breakfast, LeCellier for lunch, Boma for breakfast, and the Plaza for dinner. The rest will be CS or from the resort food court. You can get good meals at the CSs so I'm not worried in the least.

We almost always do counter service meals. With 5 kids, the dining plan was too expensive and if we wanted to go we ate where we could afford it. This trip we have a few TS planned but that's not the norm for us. You do what you can for the magic! We like Cosmic Rays, The Harbor House in MK, Pizzafari in AK, the Commissary in HS, and Epcot has many, many choices to enjoy. Also it's not a trip unless we go to Earl of Sandwich for us! Love it!
