Amy's New Start : Comments Welcome!

Thanks Tracy and Lisa for your prayers and your understanding about my need to have a Disney trip in the works, no matter how far away.:grouphug:

Dan should know today how long they will keep him at lower pay. Bascially everyone is laid off but they are going to give him a week or two we think. I am praying he makes it into May even for a couple of days so that he has benefits for that month. I really do hope today is the day we know for sure. This limbo of the last four weeks has been pure torture.

His two strong leads are running a bit on slow time since like most companies, everyone has their process. But we are still hopeful. After Friday when he no longer has a client, he should have more time to look.

I finally emailed my sister yesterday about all of this, I hadn't yet because she has so much on her plate. I somehow think she'll be very sympathetic. I guess misery loves company! I really hope we can see her this weekend, its been two months since between the weather keeping us from getting together a couple of times we had planned, her travel for business and our trip to WDW. I am worried about her and want to see for myself how she looks and acts. Her MS has really been an issue lately. Stepdad is being very nice, this is when he really shines. I think his years of being a pastor and counseling sort of come into play and at least when things go very south, he knows what to say and when to say it! Its the day to day stuff he stinks at but for now, well he's really been a good shoulder to lean on. Dan's aunt and cousin have also been very nice and called Dan the other night. He said he was about to lose his mind with all their questions because I guess they each talked to him and asked the same exact things but they do care! He said he really misses his dad because his dad always had good insight into th job market and knew the industry from years of being in it. We are both really feeling the loss of both my mom and his dad. Last time this happened, we had him just a phone call away and she was right nearby. No more. I told a friend yesterday I need one of those calls from my mom telling me "I am taking you out for lunch and a stiff drink"!

I am really trying to stick to my routine of working out and eating right. Yesterday I fell off the wagon a bit but nothing horrible. The scale appears stuck. Dan and I did go for a five mile, hilly walk on Sunday and I must say it was a good stress releaser but that was the hardest five miles I have ever walked! With that and what I am doing this week, I'll make my 5x per week exercise goal for the first time in a month. So that's good!

Thanks for your support, I am still positive this will all work out!

Amy, We've done 2 Disney trips without going to the parks. Sometimes its a pleasure not to have to rush around and there are so many other ways to enjoy yourself. You could always hit a water park and if you have a rental car there are lots of other places in the Orlando area to visit. I just love being on Disney property even if I don't go into the parks. Port Orleans is a great place to stay if you want to relax and enjoy the resort.

You've raised a very hard-working, kind and compassionate son. You should be very proud of him!!!!!

Thanks Denise, we were posting at the same time! Yeah, to me POR is one of those resorts you almost should do without the parks since it has so much to offer and its so peaceful and beautiful you don't want to leave! I was amazed at how reasonable the water park ap's were. I think this will be our next trip unless we can't go before we go with our friends in the fall of 2011.

Yeah, Ds is a good kid. If he'd just get those darn grades up! I keep telling him he can't save the world as a marine, missionary or police officer (all things he wants to do) if he doesn't graduate from high school!

Sending a  and more prayers your way, WISH sis. I hope you get some answers soon! :wizard: Waiting can be the hardest part. :( I can't remember if you told us before or not, but what line of work is Dan in? (If you don't mind sharing. ) We're sending lots of prayers his way as well. :grouphug:

I hope you have a blessed day, my friend.

Tracy, he's in software/IT.

I also forgot to tel you the other day, I generally drink Celestial Seasonings teas. I like the Peppermint one the best and also Almond Sunset which they still make but its almost impossible to find! My sister gets it for me at their factory in Boudler (its an account of hers). No idea why you can't find it in stores. In the summer, I love their peach tea!

Still waiting but I spent a bit of my wait time walking for 45 minutes then aquasizing for an hour. Better than waiting for the phone to ring!

:grouphug: Lots of hugs and prayers coming your way Amy. Waiting is hard. Way to go on keeping up with your food and exercise. :thumbsup2

We finally heard today that dh has an extension through May. As of this monrning, it appeared he would be done tomorrow with no severance whatsoever. Then today about 10:00, he got the call that his client felt they needed one more month with Dan's company before they completely switched over to their new vendor and so we are so relieved! I think he can find something in a month. What a long 26 days this has been!

I made my 5x per week exercise goal!:cool1: I got in a total of 445 minutes of exericise (240 worth of aquasize and 205 in walking).

We'll see what the scale says, good news is that I have done very well all week so if the scale isn't what I want, I know its due to stress. Which is lessened quite a bit. I feel like we got clemency from the governor right as the needle was being shoved into our arm!

Finally got caught up! I just wanted to give you some  and :wizard:. Have you found out anything else regarding the job situation? How stressful, but I am proud of your attitude and the fact that you are not stress-eating and going off the deep end with food. :thumbsup2

I was cracking up about the steaks! :lmao: I would have done the same thing, justifying it by the fact that I'm sure I'd been overcharged for something else at some point in time! :rolleyes1

Hang in there, you are strong and you'll get through this. :grouphug:

We posted at the same time! Or should I say you posted while I was leisurely typing my post... I just want everyone to know I am not a total moron, asking about the job situation RIGHT AFTER you posted that information!

That is great news, I hope he finds something soon.

And yay on the 5x workouts!!! :cool1::banana::cheer2:

Thanks Amy!

I know he can find something. I told him today, "the world will always need computer geeks who happen to also know how to manage other geeks"!:rotfl:

I'm so glad to hear that they are keeping Dan on through May !:goodvibes Sending lots of prayers and :wizard::wizard: that he finds something very, very soon.

Great job on making your exercise goal!:cheer2:

Thanks for the info on the tea!:thumbsup2 Great minds think alike....Celestial Seasonings Peppermint tea is one of my favorites too!:goodvibes My DH and kids bought me 5 boxes of it for Christmas!:santa:

Have a nice evening!

I am glad that Dan finally heard something. Now the planning can begin. Prayers will continue to be said that Dan will find something soon.

:woohoo: on meeting your exercise goals. :woohoo: You have done wonderful this week. :thumbsup2

Here's a bit of :wizard: for tomorrow's weigh in.

Quick post, I didn't weigh in on Friday. I have a good friend who is having surgery Tuesday and she and I decided to have an early lunch. I wanted to get her a candle or something from Bath and Body Works beforehand and I knew if I went to WW, I'd be late to lunch. So I missed.

Busy weekend, we have been painting dd's bedroom. We have that done and are now putting the room back together. Slow process! But it looks so pretty. I haven't exercised so I won't make my 5x goal this week. But I will make four as long as I get my buns going tomorrow which is the plan!

I'll get to journals later, ds needs the computer for homework.

Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

I'm glad that Dan got an update and I agree with previous posters, everyone needs computer people. I will keep you and Dan in my prayers.

Great job on 5x per week for exercise!

Hi Amy. I hope you are having a good day today. :goodvibes

Prayers for your friend's surgery. I wish her a speedy recovery.

Hi Amy,

How's your day going so far? I hope it's been a good day for you! :goodvibes:

Sending prayers for your friend's surgery tomorrow. WISHing her a speedy recovery!:wizard:

Hope you have a nice evening!

Hi Amy
Thought I would stop by also and offer my prayers for your friend. Praying everything goes well for her.

Thanks so much ladies (Diane, its so good to see you!).

I have to say, I am about to throw this computer out the window. I have no idea what is wrong with it, but it hasn't been working right the last two days. Poor ds has been trying all afternoon to work on a biology project and hasn't been able to get much done. I have shut down three times now in the past few minutes and its seems to be working. So frustrating!

So lets see, we got dd's room done, it looks beautiful. I took out my grandmother's four poster bed which was wayyyy too big for her room, got a daybed in there and got her new curtains and a new comforter. I stuck to my budget of $150 total. Not bad. And she is so happy, she's thanked me and Dan about a gazillion times. But what a job. I put the big bed in the basement for our guests so that room is still in shambles. That's tomorrow's project!

Food yesterday and today was perfect. I got in plenty of exercise (I am at 200 minutes for the two days). I am really realizing that I need these longer workouts to be successful. Gone are the days when I can lose weight on 30-60 minutes of exercise. Even if my food is perfect, I need at least 90 minutes, 4-5 times a week.

All morning aquasize has been cancelled for at least the next two weeks. Why you may ask? Female dumb drama! I swear, some of these women apparently have no life. They argue about how the class should be, some of them disrespect the instructors (most of whom have quit) and so they are taking a few weeks off. So stupid. Arent' we all there to get healthy? Sad fact is that its only about 5 women out of 30+ causing the trouble but we all pay. Good news is that they will still have afternoon and evening classes. I am so into my routine of walking+aquasize that I am going to make those times work. I told dd she can come with me on the Tue/Thursday nights. I am not crazy about working out at night but I am not crazy about losing my drive either.

I am really hoping the scale shows a nice loss on Friday. Its been exactly a month since I got my 15 pound star, which translates to me losing a month of time. But its a bump not a derailment and I need to just get back to what works. I am having dinner tomorrow night with two friends from my old Alzheimers support group and when asked "where do you want to go?" I suggested two healthy, cheap places to fit my food and my budget. They seemed find with that. Normally I just say "oh whatever works for you". But this time I said what works for me. And since one has celiac, she needs something that works and both of these do.

Sorry I have been off, I am on my way to visit your journals and catch up!

Oh and Dan had a really good conversation with a former co worker who now basically places people in positions and she really feels she can have him something very soon.

I haven't heard how my friend did today, but I assuming no news is good news. She said her mom would send an email tonight when she gets home from the hospital. Its a spinal fusion thing so pretty major stuff. I am hoping she is pain free soon poor thing. She's a WDW addict so we all know that means she's good people!:rotfl:

Hi Amy
CPU problems must be going around. Mine has been wacko the last couple of days. I have had to reboot several times also. :confused3

:yay: that Dan's former CW thinks she can help him. How wonderful.:goodvibes I really hope he finds something soon.

Bummer about the aqua class. But it's great that you do have other options. I am glad that you are willin to compromise. You have come so far and have definitly reached that next level. :thumbsup2 :woohoo: for your food.

Praying you hear good news tonight about your friend.

That's great news that Dan's former co-worker may have something for him soon! Sending prayers and :wizard::wizard:!

Sorry to hear about the aquacize drama. :( Why do a few women have to spoil it for the whole bunch? It just doesn't seem fair. I'm glad to hear that you have other options though.

Great job on the food and workouts!:cheer2: Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

Have a wonderful Wednesday!

Thanks Lisa and Tracy. I am determined that I will stick to my aquasize because I feel like I get toning and more cardio and the water is my knees' best friend!

I got an email from my friend's mom last night, the surgery went well and the doctor is very pleased with how things went. I am so praying this works for her, she's been in so much pain the last few months and it hurts to see her hurting so much. Thank you for the prayers.:goodvibes

I took my measurements today. Lets just say its really depressing. I wish I would have taken them when I first started back up in January because then I would be feeling better right now because I know by the way my clothes are fitting that I have lost some inches. As it is, I am just amazed at how huge those numbers are.

I realize I have a very inaccurate body image. On one hand, I think I am huge. On the other hand, I am not sure how much I really do see and know how big I am. I see women on Biggest Loser who weigh about what I do give or take and they look toned, yet still so big (Ashley comes to mind). I think to myself "do I really look that bad or even worse?". I think I need to figure out how to set my camera on automatic and take a picture of me in a bathing suit and really look at it. Lord knows the first time Dan ever takes a picture of me in a bathingsuit he's dead meat but if I take one and keep it just for myself, well maybe it would help. :confused3

Planning on at least an hour of walking today and an hour of aquasize and be diligent down to every last point and calorie with my food. Weigh in looms ahead and in my mind its a very important one. Time to shed the "I'm on vacation, I'm home from vacation, I'm out of sync due to vacation" once and for all!
