Amy's New Start : Comments Welcome!

Tracy, one of these days for sure we'll be sitting by that pool in WDW! I say we splurge and stay at AKL when we do, it looks sooo nice!

 How about we really splurge and stay at each of the deluxe resorts? A girl can dream, right? :cloud9:

Thank you so much for your PM and your prayers. I hope you know how much I appreciate you!

In just a few days, you'll be leaving for DL...I bet you are so excited! Can you take me with you?:flower3:

I think your goal of losing 5-10 pounds by your birthday is very do-able. I know you CAN do it!:cheer2:

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!:goodvibes

Hi Amy
I am getting caught up with everyone today. Almost time for DL!:cool1::cool1:
How is FIL? Still doing good I hope.

and DS had a good birthday? Teenage boys are hard to buy for. I will agree with you there.

You can make your weight goal by your Bday. It is definitly doable. You can do it!

and I hear you on the depression. Same thing going on down here. I should be jumping for joy right now, but I am so bummed out about things and can't get anything done. :confused3

I'm in on the AKL. Just let me know when and I will be there.:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Lisa: I am so glad to "see" you and missed you while you were gone. We really need to make this happen in the next couple of years to have a Wish Sister reunion time in WDW! Oh I can just see it now.;)

Tracy: Sure, why not do all the deluxe's? Of course to be with my Wish Sister's, I'd gladly stay at Pop or anywhere just to have a face to face meeting!

So I have been very busy. This past few days has been crazy. I went to WW on Friday, I was up a bit over two pounds. Bottom line, that trip to L.A., stress and not being focused are the culprits and even though its a shame to only have 1 pound of my original 3.5 loss still off, its better to not have gained it all back and I feel I can get back on track. In fact, I have! I went with my friend and when she asked rather loudly how I did, I just lied and said I was up .4 I just can't let what anyone thinks or knows freak me out. I can do that all by myself! And the good news is that according to my scale, I am back down to what I was after my first very good week back.

I did okay with food on Friday and Sunday, Saturday not so much since we had friends over. I had 3 beers and a bunch of chips and salsa plus some cheese and crackers and one full piece of pizza and the toppings off another piece (didn't like the crust so I just ate the cheese and other stuff, weird I know).

Today I worked out very hard. My friend was supposed to meet me there but never showed up, which in some ways was good since I could go at my own pace. I walked for 40 minutes and biked for 20.

I am in fairly good shape for getting ready for DL. Just stressed that my budget is so tight. The trip out to L.A. for Dan's dad's surgery really put a lot of stress and strain on our money but it will all be fine. I just dont' like cutting it this close.

Here is my food for today:

Breakfast: Protein Shake
Lunch: fat free refried beans, fresh tomatoes, corn chip strips, cheese (sort of some healthy nachos)
Snack: ice cream and a cupcake
Snack: one cup of grapes
Dinner: Salad, one half portion low fat lasagne

Okay, that snack was bad news! But its too late to whine about it now. I counted the points and just dealt with it by cutting back what I can eat for dinner. Thank goodness those ice cream and cupcakes are gone!

We got a call last night that my fil is back in the hospital. He went to get a flu shot and they noticed he had a fever, they did some tests and he may have had a heart attack. Dh and I are both very worried. I wonder if maybe he has been overdoing it a bit. Understandable, he hasn't been able to walk or do much of any physical activity for so long, and post surgery he was feeling so much better. Who knows.

I just can't shake this bad feeling, probably because the last time we went to DL, my mom died four days before we left. And with all that has been going on with my fil, its hard not to compare.

I'll keep everyone posted, he's going to have some tests this morning and hopefully we'll have some answers.

 Amy,

Sending lots of prayers for your FIL and out your way, my friend. Please update us when you can.:grouphug:

I'm sorry to hear about your FIL. I hope everything turns out OK. Are you going to visit him when you are in CA for your next trip?

Congrats on getting back to the rec center! :cool1: I think your weight loss goal before Christmas is completely reasonable. I know you can do it!

Thanks Amy, Lisa and Tracy.

So his electrolytes are apparently off and that is causing his heart to go out of rythym (is I think the reader's digest condensed version of what is going on). He's still in the hospital and they'll be transferring him to the cardiac unit once they have a bed open. They said 2-3 days in the hospital most likely as long as they get everything back where it should be. This whole thing is causing his heart to be out of whack which is scary given what he's been through.

I can't help but think they released him too soon. I mean to let someone his age in his health go home in six days after major open heart surgery and just one day after he'd gotten out of the ICU, seemed a bit crazy. Had he been in longer, they would have had him on IV's longer and maybe this wouldn't have happened. Oh well, at least they caught it. Had he not gone in for that flu shot who knows what would have happened.

So just trying to get packed, I didn't work out today, I was waiting by the phone all morning and now its that time of day when I can't go. Tomorrow should hopefully be better to get to the gym. I'd love to walk outside to clear my head but its freezing, we are supposed to have snow tonight. I guess fall is cancelled the rest of the week here in Colorado!

Thanks for the good thoughts, I'll get to your journals a bit later. Guess I'll go pick up ds since its gotten so cold and he only has a light jacket.

Amy: Yes, we are planning on seeing him in CA this week, not sure now how we will do that, I think we'll have to rent a car for a few days, if he's in the hospital in particular. I just hope he gets out so the kids can see him, they have a strict "no one under 14" rule at the cardiac unit so dd would be too young.

Tracy and LIsa: Thanks so much, I"ll keep you updated but I think he'll be fine, just a scare that did in fact scare us!

Amy, yes I think they do release people too soon sometimes. I am glad that they are keeping him for a few days and hopefully will be more cautious with him.

Amy, I'm sorry to hear about your FIL, but thankfully he is just where he needs to be right now. Thank goodness he went for that flu shot as sometimes things really do happen for a reason. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Its great that you have your trip to Calif. planned and that you'll be able to see him. Keep your spirits up and think positive thoughts!!!!!!

I'm glad to hear that they are keeping your FIL in the hospital for a few days so they can watch him and make sure he'll be okay. We're praying for him and for your family. :grouphug:

Any updates on your FIL today? Sending lots of prayers!:grouphug:

One more day til DL!!!! Sending lots of :wizard::wizard: to help you pack and get ready for tomorrow. I hope you and your family have a wonderful, safe, and relaxing time in DL!:grouphug:

Don't forget to have a drink for me! :drinking1

Have a great time Amy! We will miss you while you are gone, but can't wait to hear about it when you get back.

:wizard::wizard::wizard: that FIL is doing well.

I hope FIL is well and that you are having a great time on your trip. Can't wait to hear all about it when you come back! :goodvibes

Thank you Amy, Lisa and Tracy.

We are here in Disneyland! The weather is so beautiful and warm, its hard to believe it had snowed four inches the day before we left Colorado. Fil is still in the hospital, he has an infection and is running a fever, so we are going to see him today. He's about an hour and a half away via the L.A. traffic ridden freeway and a friend of the family has offered to come and get us and take us up there and then back here. Then on Wednesday, we'll rent a car if he's still in the hospital and go back again.

Dan had to work most of yesterday :sad2: poor guy so we only did about four hours at the park, then I took the kids to the pool and sat and had my own little private cocktail party! And talked to my brother on the phone.

We had the shuttle service take us to grocery store on the way here from LAX, so I have nice, healthy breakfast options (and Malibu rum ;)) and even got some lunch things. Oh yeah, and three bags of chips (it is vacation after all). Other than my three rum and diets yesterday, I did very well until dinner, we did Goofy's Kitchen and of course buffets can be a challenge. But I stuck to ice tea and then at least walked around the parks for two hours so that at least help me digest the food! I plan to have 1-2 meals per day here in our room and only eat one out. That should help the budget and calories.

The Villas here at the Grand Californian are so drop dead gorgeous, and brand new. Its going to be so hard to part with this DVC but I keep remembering any Disney resort is nice, heck, I am pretty much just excited to stay at Pop. Its a nice send off to our DVC days and I am going to enjoy it!

My nephew arrives later today so that will be fun. He hasn't been to Disneyland since 1996 so its going to be fun to have him experience the parks as they are now and as a resort guest, not just a one day trip like he did the other time.

I'll check in with all of you, thanks for all the good thoughts, I am hoping fil gets to go home tomorrow or Monday. If not, thank goodness we have someone to take us up there today so we'll have an idea of how to get up there on Wed. if need be.

Hi Amy
Thanks for letting us know about your trip and FIL. Thank goodness they are keeping him to get the infection under control. and how wonderful you have someone who can drive you there and back. Aren't friends great!?!:goodvibes

Take some pics of the Grand for us. I would love to see it.

Have a great time!:flower3:

Glad to hear you are having a great time in DL! Too bad our school breaks didn't coincide, we could have met you there. We ended up going to Mexico for Oct break, which was fun.

Great job with the meal planning! :thumbsup2

Here is some :wizard: for FIL. How nice that your friend is going to take you to see him! Have a great time with your nephew!

I hope you are having a wonderful time in Florida, Amy! :wizard:

I hope you'll post some pics of the Grand Californian! It sounds really nice!:cloud9:

How is your FIL? He is in our thoughts and prayers. :grouphug:

I hope you are having a blast! Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!

Safe travels!

Thanks Lisa, Tracy and Amy.

So here I am live from sunny southern California while its snowing at home. Planned this trip perfectly!:rotfl: I needed to do some laundry so I stayed "home" while Dan took the kids and my nephew to the park. We have had a great time, my nephew really likes Disneyland. All I can say is thank God we have this much space vs. just a regular hotel room. My nephew being an only kid who has always lived with just his mom does not do well with others in small spaces! My poor son has had to sleep with him and last night my nephew got so annoyed poor Matthew just came in here and slept on our floor. Nephew takes about 100 smoke breaks a day and night and then reeks of smoke and wants to watch tv all night and then gets annoyed when my son listens to his MP3 to drown out the never ending sound of ESPN and Cartoon Network. Other than the sleeping arrangements that don't "work" for him, its been a great trip. Fairly low crowds, nice weather and again, this new area of the Grand Californian is so incredibly nice. And I now know where all the designated smoking areas are in the park. :sad2::sick:

Food has been about like one would expect on a vacation, way too much junk but at least I am walking a bunch. We have been doing the parks way more commando than normal since its my nephew's first trip for who knows how long so we want him to see as much as possible. My feet are sore! And I am really feeling the affects of my weight this trip. Last trip I was about 15 pounds lighter and apparently this weight gain put me over the red line. My knees have been a bit sore and my feet are very sore. No wonder. So I am sort of ready to come home and hit it hard. I am so glad we did the grocery stop, I was able to get stuff for breakfast and last night we had Stouffers Lasagne (not the best but better than the other things I have been eating) and a salad while we watched Biggest Loser and took a night off from the parks.

Fil finally got out of the hospital last night. He got a staph infection around his incision and also had his potasium all out of whack. Hopefully he's home to stay. I think his significant other will bring him over today or tomorrow for a short visit.

I have to say when fil's signficant other took us into L.A. on Saturday it was scary. This person drives like a bat out of hell. At one point he was literally whipping in and out of traffic going over 90. Poor dd who gets car sick anyway was green and I was feeling not much better. But he did get us there in one piece and back again. Fil even said as we were leaving "don't kill my family with your *****y driving". That was definitely our thrill ride of the trip! Ds thought it was very fun. ;) I told him he had better never drive like that!

Sounds like you are having a good time! :cool1: Wow, a free thrill ride to the hospital, huh? Sounds like a cab ride in either Vegas or NYC! I have an aunt that drives like that, and my stepmom isn't much better! :confused3

Sounds like you are in the right mindset for when you come back! I can't imagine snow. Today there is a huge cold front coming through and the high is only going to be 64. And that is COLD for my desert blood :cold:!!

Enjoy the rest of your trip and have a safe journey back!
