Amy's Journal: Comments Welcome!

Hi everyone, thanks for your support! I did not work out today, Sunday night while putting some bottles of beer in my garage frig, I dropped one, and it really cut my foot open. I can't get a shoe on, its very bruised as well since the bottle dropped on it, broke and then sliced it open. I kept reopening it yesterday so today I just kept off it and didn't attempt to put a shoe on. I think by tomorrow it should be fine. Dan thought I needed stitches but I was too tired and cheap to go to the ER! It has only bled a little today so I think its fine. I grazed all day. Did nothing but watch tv and laundry. I drank my water and didn't eat huge quantitites but didn't eat very well either. I am hoping tomorrow will be better. I am just wiped out from all my company I think. Tomrrow is Day One of my two week plan to lose 5 pounds before the cruise. Hope I can do it. I am hoping I can make the August challenge, on the 31st I will be at Blizzard Beach so I may get in some many needed last minute exercise minutes that day!

Tracy, we arrive into WDW on December 15, I guess we will just miss each other. That would have been to great to meet face to face :guilty: !

Julie, the whole relaxation part of the cruise is what I am looking forward to the most!

Tracey and Amy, this is probably a once in a lifetime thing given the expense! If we do cruise again it will likely have to be on another cruise line. I keep telling that to my kids but I know they will bug me to go again and being the pinhead I am with money I'll probably have a hard time saying no!

Hi Amy~

Hey girl! I'm so sorry to hear about your foot! :( Please rest it and do what you need to do get it healed as soon as possible. You don't want to be hobbling on it during your cruise. ;)

We have been thinking about extending our stay in Florida a day or two. If we do, then maybe we can meet up for a bit in December. It would be great to meet you and your family in person! :goodvibes

I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday! :sunny:

Ouch, I hope your foot is feeling better! It's amazing how we take our feet for granted. I broke a toe once and I couldn't believe how that one little appendage could make my life so miserable for weeks! Take it easy, you want it to heal properly, especially with that cruise coming up!

I am with you, the Disney cruise was a once-in-a-lifetime thing. Of course maybe if they come to the West coast again I will be a little more inclined to go since we could drive to the port (or fly dirt cheap) instead of flying across the country, getting a hotel the day before, etc... Enjoy every second and take tons of pictures. Your kids are the perfect age to be going and they will have some awesome memories!

Thanks Tracy and Amy! Tracy, if you do extend that trip to WDW, we have to meet up!

My foot is better. I found some really good water proof bandaids (Disney themed no less) that seem to bind it up a lot better. I have been putting a lot of antibiotic ointment on it since the thought of an infected foot on the cruise is unappealing!

I had a great day on my plan. I ate right, exercised a total of 80 minutes and drank my water. It felt great! Here was my day:
Breakfast: Slim Fast
Lunch: Subway club sandwich with mustard, no mayo, no cheese, extra veggies, baked Lays and a diet coke.
Dinner: Shake n Bake chicken breast (skinless), one cup rice, 2 cups salad greens with one TB lowfat dressing, small tangerine.
Drank 64 oz. of water, one diet coke and 12 oz. of herbal ice tea.

Exercise: 30 minutes on the treadmill, 30 minutes Walk Away the Pounds, 10 minutes of AB's, 10 minutes of stretch/tone.

It felt so nice to be on track, I hope I can keep it up!

Trust a good old bit of disney magic to make your foot feel better :)
Well done on the eating & exercise!
I know what you mean about the expense of doing DCL, we are going to look at RC when i start planning our 2008 trip, keep telling myself DD will enjoy that more as she will 13 by then but i still keep hankering over the DCL brochure!!
Make a wish to return whilst your on board & see if that Disney magic works again :)

What a great day yesterday! :cool1: :cheer2:

I'm glad your foot is healing. Keep taking care of it and I bet you will be fine before you go. I'm still SO JEALOUS by the way!

I think if you keep it up and have a couple more days like yesterday, you will have no problem meeting your 5lb goal by your cruise. :wizard:

Yeah Amy! :cheer2:

You sound like you had a great day yesterday! Congratulations! Keep up the good work! :cheer2:

Thank you so much for your words of encouragement, Amy. :goodvibes I hope you know how much I appreciate you!

Have a great weekend! :sunny:

Well today was not as good (but not bad either). But I got a ton of stuff done. I made a good start on packing, answered about 25 emails I needed to attend to, researched some stuff for my mom and her Alzheimers, cleaned, caught up on laundry and helped my kids write their thank you notes for their confirmation gifts. Whew, I am beat. All of this while I had a killer migraine all day! I kept putting off exercising all day, hoping my head would stop hurting. The problem was that I forgot tonight was my Alz. support group at church until almost the last minute. So instead of exercising this evening like I had planned, I went to that. Oh well, I really enjoyed my 70 minute routine yesterday and if I do that a few more times I will be ahead of the game. Food was weird, my headache made me want weird food.

Breakfast: Slim Fast
Lunch: 93% lean hamburger patty, 2% cheese slice, 2 pieces of bread.
Snack: Weight Watchers ice cream bar
Second Snack: Lean Pocket breakfast pocket and ff pudding. Ate this before Alz. group, I literally had three minutes to eat something before my meeting and this was handy. I was starving and didn't want to eat a bunch of nuts (they always serve nuts for a snack at group :confused3 ) and thankfully I didn't.
Dinner (Just now eaten at past 10:00 p.m.): Burger King kids meal with a hamberger, small fries and small Dr. Pepper. Wanted that soda for my headache and I think it did help. Didn't eat all the fries as Benjamin the Beagle stole the half eaten bag off my plate. Good for him, I didn't need them anyway!
Water: 70oz. plus 16 oz. of herbal, caffeine free ice tea.
No fruits, no veggies, no exercise. I think I was close to being on points target for the day. Hopefully I can sleep off the headache. I am exercising earlier tomorrow, I have a school function to volunteer at tomorrow evening so know I will be too tired when I get home. Thanks for reading!

Hope that headache has gone :)
& that you have a less hectic day today!!

Sorry to hear you had such a hectic day! That darn beagle, I can't believe (oh wait, yes I can!) he ate your fries. You are right, you didn't need them! He probably didn't either... :teeth:

Great job passing up the nuts at the meeting. :cheer2: I know you've struggled with that before.

Did you get your exercise in today?

Thanks Amy, yeah that darn Beagle! I did workout yesterday so that was good. Got thirty minutes on the treadmill and then did Walk Away the Pounds another thirty minutes later on. I am over halfway there on my August challenge but still aways to go!

Yesterday was okay with food.
Breakfast: skipped, felt sick still from my headache that was still hanging around a bit.

Lunch: I had to take my son up to his new middleschool to find all his classes. Then I took the kids out to lunch, they picked On the Border. I had a chicken fiesta salad, with grilled chicken. I gave the tortilla/cheese crisps which were basically like a whole quesedilla to my kids. I had some chips and salsa and didn't finish the salad and two glasses of iced tea.

Dinner: Two bites of a hot dog at the school carnival. Small piece of cheese pizza and small piece of combo pizza at home later.

Drank: 80 oz. of water, 24 oz. of ice tea.
Resisted: cotton candy, more hot dog, chips, candy, popcorn and snow cone at the carnival. I sold probably two hundred bags of cotton candy and didn't have one bite, I just kept drinking my water.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. I am looking to add 150 minutes of exercise over the next two days (keeping fingers crossed). Two weeks from today I will be on the Magic :cool1: ! And I had better be down 30 pounds total or I am gonna be seriously ticked.

I am absolutely GREEN with envy!!!!!!! You guys are going to have a much deserved, fantastic time! Did you get pirates outfits for everyone? pirate: Are you doing Eastern or Western?

Great job resisting all the carnival goodies. Cotton candy never did appeal to me. But all the other junk sure does!

You are doing awesome on your exercise challenge too, keep it up!

Thanks, we are going on the Eastern, I wanted that extra day at sea! And cotton candy is something I have never wanted to eat much of. But when I was right there by the machine it smelled good. And then of course watching hundreds of people gorge themselves on junk makes me want junk! Oh, and I bought some pirate hats and jewlery at Party America a few weeks ago so I guess we will at least have some pirate duds on!

Got 60 minutes in today, just hoping for a lengthy workout tomorrow!

Hi Amy,

Woohoo! Two weeks and counting! :Pinkbounc I bet everyone is getting so excited for your cruise. You will all have a wonderful time! :thumbsup2

Way to go on resisting all of that food at the carnival! Keep up the good work! :cheer2:

Have a great Sunday! :sunny:

Hope the next 2 weeks fly by & then your cruise goes by really slow :)
Pirates night is fantastic, we were onboard for the very first night they started, news helicopters were flying over & we were waving like crazy!!!
They played AC/DC 'shook me all night long' when they set the fireworks off
I LOVE AC/DC i thought i'd died & gone to heaven!!! Oh & the food....
Gotta go & watch the video...again

Thanks Tracy and Tracey! I am very excited about the cruise. And Tracey, my kids and now that I know they play AC/DC, I am excited too. I might for a moment think I am back in high school! I am feeling a bit guilty for pulling the kids out of school for six days total. Especially my son given that he is just starting middle school for a week and half and then missing over a week. Oh well, he's a good student, the school didn't bat an eye when my husband called the attendance office, so I guess I should just be excited and leave the guilt behind!

Today has been very good. Last night, not so good. Had some junk while we watched a movie. I coped with some worry regarding my son by eating. He had called a friend for the second time to come over for a sleepover and to go swimming with us today and the kid never called back. My son is very shy and doesn't have many friends so he was so disappointed. This just brought back unhappy memories for me of my lonely days in middle school and never fitting in (still don't for that matter) so I had some Doritos and three Malibu and Diet cokes (made with a half shot so I gues thats actually one and a half). In any case, got right back on today and worked out for 90 minutes :cool1: .

Breakfast: Slim Fast
Lunch: 6" subway club with no mayo and lots of veggies, some Sun Chips, 10 corn chips with some cheese sauce on them (pool concession food yuk).
Dinner: Lean cuisine and two tangerines.

Did 30 minutes deep water aqua aerobics. I decided I was at the pool and I would do this, nobody could see what I was doing and I got a workout. Also did 30 minutes of Walk Away the Pounds and 30 minutes of a toning DVD.
Drank: 64 oz. of water, will probably drink another 12 before bed.

Thanks for reading!

Good morning Amy,

Sending a  for you this morning.... Did you DS's friend call back? Middle school was tough for me too. That's when all of the cliques began. I was blessed in that I met my DH my freshman year in high school and with his help, I transitioned from middle school to high school without too many problems.

So, how many days until your cruise now? :Pinkbounc Please don't feel guilty about taking the kids out of school for the cruise. If the school approved it and your kids can get the work done, it should be just fine. Go and have a good time! Hakuna Matata! :simba:

I hope you have a great day today! :sunny:

Hi Amy
I didnt 'fit in' either & like you still dont in many ways :)
Hope your DS is ok, Dont worry about taking him out of school too much, i am a firm believer that travel is an education & children learn & retain much more!!
I took my DD out for nearly 4 weeks when we did the cruise (did wdw too)
I asked the head teachers permission before we booked & he said normally he wouldnt but DD is a good student:) When we returned she did some exams a couple of weeks later & got the top 5% in the country!!!
This is quite a heated subject in the UK & i respect anyones wishes & opinions, it is up to the individual person to decide what is best for their child.
Now i work in a school those days are over & after this trip i will have to go during the VERY expensive school holls, but as she is getting older, i feel she shouldnt miss so much now anyway :)
Way to go on all that exercise :)
I LOVE malibu & coke :)

That is a bummer about DS's "friend". I have the same problem with my DS. He is just so bizarre and does so many crazy things that he has a hard time keeping friends. Is your son involved in Scouts or any other club like that? That might help him 1) break out of his shell and 2) meet some more friends with similar interests, etc.

I wouldn't worry about pulling him out of school, especially if he knows he has to make up the work and he is a good student. You won't care once you step foot on the Magic anyway! :thumbsup2

You are doing GREAT with your workouts! I need to snag some motivation from you! :yay:

Thank you so much Amy, Tracy and Tracey! I guess if I don't have something to worry and feel guilty about I am just not happy :rotfl2: ! My son's homeroom teacher told him yesterday (first day of school) that she had gotten the notice from the attendance office and that he should not worry, he'll be fine. And my daughter's teacher was my son's teacher last year so she and I know each other well and she told me a year ago when I first planned this thing and discussed this with her to go for it. So that is one worry I can stop worrying about! You all are right, I need to go have fun, and not feel guilty. I have just been surprised at the process of taking the kids out, its like they want a note signed by Congress to approve all this. But the teachers are fine with it and I am more worried about their perspective than some district policy.

More doggy woes. My 13 year old beagle is just so old and not doing well. Dan and I talked it over and decided it was just time to put him down. Of course Dan had a critical thing come up at work and couldn't go with me. So I got there and just couldn't do it. Our vet has been Ben's vet for 11 of his 13 years and told me not to worry, he's not suffering, he's just old. He said the time is now or very soon but didn't push it with me. He gave him some new medicine that has about a 20% chance of helping his senility and wetting issues a bit. I can't believe my dog and my mom have Alzheimers. It would be funny if I had any sense of humor left in life. So I bought a new steam vac to clean up the spots and I'll swear the dog has been happier and peppier than he has been in months. He even acts like he recognizes me today. Guess he feels like he got a reprieve!

Food has been okay. I have been eating my fruit but only one serving of veggies the last couple of days. Today I had a burger (no cheese, no mayo) and some fries for lunch. I enjoyed it and have already assembled a nice big, leafy salad for dinner. Weigh in is tomorrow. First time in two weeks, I couldn't go the last two weeks because of the kids' schedules and my mom. We shall see. I feel so much more toned, my clothes fit so much better but I have a feeling that with my new workouts (that include strength training now for the first time in years) I may be up a bit or just the same. I can see that 30 pound goal-by-the-cruise not happening. Oh well, I feel great and several people at school the other night commented on my appearance. For the most part people have not really noticed, when you have 100 pounds to lose, 25 isn't so much to notice. But I can tell. I have a friend who had much less to lose than me and has lost all of it plus some. She keeps referring to her loss vs. mine. I am not going to cave into this kinda thing. For Pete's sake, we are adults, this is not a high school contest to see who can lose the most by prom. I just keep saying I'm in it for the long haul. Women can be so snotty sometimes!

And Amy, I think your son and my son must be a lot alike. Matthew is just so wacky sometimes I think people don't know what to think of him. His teachers always think he's this genius, crazy guy and they love him but sometimes his peers don't. For the last four years he has done Pioneer Boys at church but is now transitioning into the middle school youth group. So he loves that and won't miss it. I am also trying to convince him to join the boys basketball team. There's no tryout process and I think it would be good for him. We'll see, I don't want to push but I think he needs to make more effort to meet more boys and find something to belong in at school. He seems much more comfortable at church however. The joys of parenthood!

Thanks again ladies! We leave for Orlando in 8 days  !

Edited to add, I did 60 minutes of exercise today (30 on the treadmill, 30 minutes of Walk Away the Pounds).
