AmyM's Quest for a Better Bikini Body!

Hi Amy,

This must have been the weekend to just eat! I didn't do well at all either. Thankfully you only had one day that you ate whatever, I had two! What a weekend.

Glad to hear that DH did go camping and that you got some girl time with friends! Sometimes that is just needed!!!

Congrats on staying away from the cookies and the dough! That is great!!

Keep up the good work!!!

Have a great day :)

Good job getting back on track yesterday and :worship: for only having a bit of cookie dough. I usually ending up eating more dough than cookie :confused3 . An easy workout today will probably feel good for loosening up your sore muscles.

I don't even know if I am going to mention my super-sensitive crown because they will probably want to do a root canal. NO THANKS, I'll just chew on the right side of my mouth for the rest of my life...
I resisted the root canal route until I ended up with an emergency root canal on Christmas eve morning. The root canal was a piece of cake compared to the whole crown pain fiasco. It was wonderful to not have any tooth pain at all by that afternoon. Get in and get it taken care of. You'll be so much happier when it is done. Just make sure that you get a referral to the endodontist, root canal specialist.

:cheer2: Congrats on your daughter's soccer game! That must've been exciting to watch. Hopefully, next time someone will kick that ball IN! :lmao:

How's it feel to have the whole family back? I'm glad you got in some quiet time for yourself. You definately needed it!

I hope your knees have recovered. That veggie soup sounds delicious!

I did a short workout yesterday, hoping it would loosen up my legs. NOPE! They are still sore! That'll teach me for skipping that TBK class for over a month. Today is a day off exercising, so hopefully I will be in better shape tomorrow... :rolleyes: It feels like I am fighting off a cold or something, I hope it is just extra allergies. We have a big meeting this afternoon with my boss to determine who will be taking over what duties on the UK program. I think I will be picking up a lot more work and that means I will be travelling there at least 4x a year. Great for FF miles, not too great for DH and the kids. We'll see how the meeting goes! Yesterday I drank 96.9oz water, 16oz green tea, 12oz Minute Maid Light:

6:20am: Egg Beaters w/Red Pepper & Meatless Crumble
8:30am: LF Cottage Cheese; Plum
11:30am: Spring Mix Salad (w/chicken, cheese, red pepper, flax seed, LF dressing); Soy Crisps (1 serving)
2:40pm: Low Carb Yogurt; Apple
6:30pm: Shake-n-Bake Pork Chop; Green Beans; Mashed Potatoes (3 small bites); Soy Crisps (1 serving); SF Jello w/Soy Whip
WORKOUT: Weights (30min); Treadmill (20min)
RESISTED: Chocolate Chip Cookies!!!!! :cheer2:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jamie, I sniffed the baggie of cookies twice, but I didn't eat a single one! Hopefully that ability will carry over to today. The kids only eat one each after dinner, so they last a long time...
Anna, your crown story scares me!! OK, I will mention it to the dentist when I go for my next check-up. They have an endodontist right there in the office, if that is what is needed. The thing that makes me the most mad is that my tooth never hurt one bit until they started screwing with it. :furious: And now I will have to pay $300+ to get a root canal to fix a problem that THEY caused!!! :furious: :furious:
Jane, it is nice to have everyone back. Saturday is "Silent Sidelines" at soccer. That means no cheering. Coaches can't even say anything. It's eery, but the kids love it. Parents hate it. Oh well, at least it will give my vocal chords a break! :teeth: My knee feels better now. Either that or my other muscles hurt so bad it is overshadowed... :rolleyes1
The 'silent sidelines' sounds like a great idea. Its probably a lot less stress on the kids. I'm glad your knee is feeling better. I tell ya those lunges and squats are BRUTAL on knees! I've learned my lesson the hard way. Whew! 4X a year traveling to the UK is alot but think of all the sightseeing you'll get in! Yesterday I was perusing AAA South's website looking at their trips. I'd love to go either to Costa Rica, London or Paris but I hate all of the travel rigamaroll! Let me know if you think London's worth it!
Amy-great job on resisting the cookies!!
Regarding the root canal - I understand completely!! Last year I had the same thing...nothing wrong w/ the tooth...didn't hurt or anything....dentist said I needed a crown....a root canal...2 temp crowns...and $1000.00 later, it was fixed! A few weeks ago I went for my cleaning and she said I had a really big filling and we should look into doing a crown....I laughed and said...I'll let the thing fall out first!!
If it hurts, get it fixed...if it doesn't, don't!
Sorry, I'm not much help!
marie
Hi Amy! You really got right back on track after your weekend which is great news. Isn't it amazing how sore your legs can get when you exercise after a break? I hope your meeting went well, the ff miles sound good to me! But the extra work doesn't. I'll bet you are busy getting ready for your halloween party, I love Halloween! Keep up the good work with the food, you have motivated me to make some veggie crockpot soup very soon!
Amy
P.S. Begales must not like Halloween decor, Benjamin freaks out from our skeleton decoration on our front door! Of course I am so mean I love to open the door just to scare him but hey, he deserves it. I love hearing your Buckley stories, we Beagle owners always have some interesting thing to share from our little wacko friends.
Yesterday started off fine, ended badly. I just had it in my head that I was starving to death! WAY too snacky, but oh well, life goes on! My throat is really sore (for the second day in a row). I am hoping that whatever is trying to get me stays away! Or at least goes away before my cruise, how miserable would that be? I did indulge in a cookie yesterday, but only 1. :cheer2: It was nice to be able to have a treat within reason! I drank 80oz water, 16oz green tea, 16.9oz diet green tea, 18oz Diet Fuze:
6:15am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:30am: LF Cottage Cheese; Plum
11:30am: Spring Mix Salad (w/chicken, cheese, red pepper, LF dressing); Soy Crisps
3:00pm: 3 Egg Whites; Apple
4:45pm: Celery-n-LF Laughing Cow; Almonds (1.2oz)
6:45pm: Veggie Soup; 7 Grain Bread-n-Butter; Soy Crisps; Chocolate Chip Cookie
8:45pm: Trail Mix (~3/4c) :guilty: :sad2:
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: More cookies
Jane, when DS was playing soccer he said Silent Sidelines were his favorite games. London is really cool and there are tons of things to do. I'd love to spend a couple days there, exploring. Unfortunately all my trips will be 2 hours west of London, in the country. It's still nice though, I love going to all the little villages and quaint pubs for dinner.
Marie, I'm glad (well, not really!) that I am not the only one who had the dentist screw something up. I will mention the sensitivity when I go in for my next check up and see what to do from there. I just dread anything dealing with my teeth!
Amy, My legs are STILL sore! At least it is bearable today. Buckley had his "graduation" from obedience school last night. They gave him little caps and everything! I will have to post a photo for you. I felt so bad because we got him a shock collar (which we rarely use) and he has a really bad habit of jumping up on the counter. So the other day I put it on him and when he jumped up on the table I told him "OFF" and zapped him (it was on Level 3, out of 9) and I felt SO bad!!!! He didn't yelp or anything, but you could tell he felt it! Then I made a point to pet him a couple minutes later. Now all I have to do is pick up the remote and he scatters. Poor guy! But we have done everything and he won't stop jumping up. Maybe he'll finally get the hint that's not gonna fly...
I hope you get feeling better quickly. :sunny: With your next trip coming up so soon, you need to be healthy. Nothing is worse than traveling when you're sick.
Poor little Buckley! I hope he learns his lesson so he doesn't have to get zapped anymore. He sounds like a handful! Thank goodness he's so cute.
I didn't go to the gym yesterday. My throat is just not 100%. It hurts really bad in the morning, then gets a little better as the day goes by. I wonder if it is a change in the weather or something. I just wish it would go away! I don't have a fever, so I know it's not strep. At least it is happening before my cruise, not during! Just got news that the Greece trip will be around Dec 12-20. That works for me! Now I just have to wait and see if the program manager will pay for me to go (he has agreed already, but my co-worker said that might change when it actually comes time to fork out the $$!). No word on the Netherlands trip, I am going to try to find out about that next week. I need to get a grip with my eating, I have not made any progress at all. I have an idea what the scale is going to say tomorrow and I'm not gonna like it! We picked up our cookie dough last night. I ate 2 cookies (170cal ea) which is good considering I could have done way more damage than that! Yesterday I drank 80oz water, 16oz green tea, 16.9oz Diet green tea:
6:15am: Egg Beaters w/Meatless Crumble
8:45am: LF Cottage Cheese; Apple
11:30am: Spring Mix Salad (w/chicken, cheese, LF dressing); Soy Crisps
2:40pm: Low Carb Yogurt; Plum
5:00pm: PB (2tbsp)
6:30pm: Cheeseburger Melt (very large piece); Green Beans; 2 cookies
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: More cookies!!!!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, poor little Buckley?!?!? Try poor Amy!!! That dog is like having a very curious 2 year old that just never grows up! But he is so cute and does the funniest things. I only have to pick up the remote and he will stop whatever he is doing (and he hasn't had the shock collar on for days! :rotfl: ) So he will probably only have to get zapped 3-4x a year... I am getting so excited for my cruise, I can hardly stand it! We are going to take a mile hike to a secluded beach on St. John. And on Antigua we are taking a hiking/kayaking/snorkeling tour. It'll be awesome!

Your upcoming cruise sounds awesome! :wizard: The day trips sound fun. At least you'll be exercising on this trip which will keep your metabolism up. I hope you get to go to Greece in December. When will you find out for sure?

Amy, have you tried Airborne? They are natural tablets you disolve in water and drink. They really work, invented by a teacher no less. We all take them before trips and flying to ward off the germs!

Your food looks good, you are really holding it together before your trip and when you are not feeling well to boot. Good for you! You must be really excited for your trip! YOur exursions sound wonderful, I envy you!

And Buckey will recover from being zapped! I never got one of those for Benjamin (not sure they had them when he was a puppy) but if I had, he would've been zapped plenty. Hey, do they make those collars for husbands and kids?

Weight this morning was 139. Same as last week. But considering the bad weekend and all the cookies, I am happy I didn't gain! We are going out to dinner tonight, I will avoid the chips-n-salsa and get my beloved seafood tacos. I am infuriated with my ex. He was going to pick up the kids tomorrow at DD's soccer game, then have them overnight until 6pm on Sun. Well, DD's friend is having a sleepover b-day party tomorrow night. DD told her friend she probably couldn't go because she was going to her dad's, but that she'd call and ask (he never takes either one of the kids to b-day parties on "his" weekends). He told her that he had to work, so she could go to the sleepover. DD was SO excited, talked about it all through dinner, we called her friend and told her she would be coming. Well, about an hour after that, my idiot ex had his wife call (chicken!) to tell me that they forgot about their family pictures at 7am on Sunday (who the heck schedules family pictures at that hour?!?) and that DD wouldn't be able to go after all. :furious: I told her that SHE could break her heart and gave DD the phone. DD agreed to some things and I got back on the phone and apparently her stepmom (SM) told her that she would pick her up at 8:30pm on Sat, so at least she could go to some of the party. I thought that was pretty fair, since they live about 25 miles away and that is a long drive. So after I got off the phone, I went over and told DD that there would be more sleepovers and she just lost it. She thought SM meant 8:30AM on Sun and when she realized she would not be able to sleep over, she started balling. It just killed me to see her so upset. So she wanted to call SM back and tell her how upset she was and of course SM and idiot ex wouldn't budge. So I was the one who had to comfort her for 20 minutes while she cried her heart out because they told her she could go, then changed their minds. Isn't that awful?!?!? So they are picking DS up today after work, then DD tomorrow at the party. DH and I will do something fun and special with DD, to hopefully take her mind off her real dad disappointing her so much. Yesterday I drank 80oz water, 16oz green tea and 16.9oz diet green tea:

6:15am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:45am: LF Cottage Cheese; Apple
11:30am: Spring Mix Salad (w/chicken, cheese, LF dressing); Soy Crisps
2:30pm: 3 Egg Whites; Pear
6:30pm: Taco Salad (w/spring mix, turkey taco meat, cheese, LF sour cream); 1/2 cookie
WORKOUT: None :guilty:
RESISTED: More cookies! :cheer2:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, as with all biz trips (at least at my company), I will probably find out a week or two before we are supposed to leave. I just found out that I might have to go to the UK for a meeting on 11/15. That means I'd have to fly out on 11/13, which is the first day back from my cruise. :sad2: I haven't even told DH about that one, I don't think he'd be thrilled. I'm not thrilled either! I am trying to have someone else go in my place.
Amy, I am really against taking medicine of any kind unless it is totally necessary. I don't get flu shots or anything. I'm getting better at taking Advil if I get a headache, but other than that, I just avoid it. My throat was not quite as sore this morning, I did get some Chloraseptic spray and drops (yuk!) and I bet I will be fine after this weekend. I still have a chance to get in my 3x per week gym goal - if I go both Sat AND Sun!!! I've threatened to put the collar on DS and of course he agreed to it. What a weirdo! :crazy:
Amy, your daughter must be really upset. What's really bad is that she thought her step mom was going to pick her up in the morning. You must've felt like you were stuck in the middle on that one. I'm glad you're supporting her through this. Its not easy being a kid!
As for cravings, can you believe it was my coworker that tried to get me to eat the pb cup?!? We were getting things ready for the party and all at once she said, "We need energy - HERE!" and before I knew it she was shoving a pb cup into my face. I declined emphatically! Once I get started on those things I don't want to quit & she had a whole bag full. I'm struggling but not doing as badly as I used to. And what gets me is that she's in perfect shape! I don't know how she does it.
Have a great weekend! Enjoy your party - sometimes thats easier said than done. :dance3:
Hi Amy!
Too bad for your daughter, I agree, that stinks that they disappointed her like that. It must hurt you for her to be treated like that.
Hope you're feeling better. Seems like there's been lots of sickness going on at work, must be the time of year for it.
Have a good weekend, I'm trying to get back to the journals more regularly! :sunny:
Hi Amy. I am so sorry about your daughter. That stinks plain and simple. My nephew(now 23) went through stuff like this the whole time he grew up with his stupid dad. My sister could probably really relate to you having to be the one to comfort the crying kid because of the ex's stupidity! The only good thing is that your daughter will always remember who had her best interest in mind.
Staying the same through your stress and pretrip craziness is a very good thing. I am very impressed.
Thats funny your ds wanted to wear the shock collar, my friend caughter her two kids taking turns with their dog's. Kids are so crazy! Oh, and Airborne is just a natural supplement. Not really a medicine just herbs and vitamins. I never take any type of OTC cold remedy but will take this. But I know a lot of people won't take the supplements either and I do agree lettting nature run its course is usually best. I actually found out about Airborne from a nurse who works for a ND I consulted when my mom was on chemo and I absolutely could not get sick and be around her. I was really asking about this other supplement (echi something, don't know how to spell it). She told me to take this. I am not pushing it but just wanted you to know I wasn't advising a nyquil type thing!
If I had been confronted with all those cookies, I'm quite sure it would have been a frightening sight! :sad2: Way to go on all that resisting!
I'm so sorry to hear what your DD had to go through with your ex. :grouphug: Luckily she had you to help her through. I hope issues like this one are few and far between.
Your cruise sounds so exciting! I can't wait to hear all about it.
Hope you have a terrific week!
Wow, what a weekend! I did OK with my eating, even yesterday when I was SO sick and hungover. I learned that amaretto + rum + tequila + an empty stomach = not a good idea (:drinking1 = :sick: ). The bright side (if there is one in this kind of situation :rolleyes: ) is that I didn't eat at my party! But that is why I got extremely drunk and passed out at 10pm (yes, it is embarrassing to admit!). I didn't even drink that much (5 cocktails over 4 hours), but apparently not eating is not a good thing when drinking. Usually I have the opposite problem - eating too much while drinking! I learned a lesson (albeit the hard way). DD was very happy that she got to go to some of her friends party (even though she didn't get to sleep over). They carved little pumpkins and she got to have pizza and cake, so she was fine. I did not work out all weekend. I was such a bum! My sore throat is finally gone, so I have NO excuse not to get to the gym at least 3x this week before we leave!!! I can't believe we are leaving on Sat, I am so excited!
Fri: 60oz water, 16oz green tea, pomegranate margarita:
6:20am: Egg Beaters w/Meatless Crumble
8:30am: 3 Egg Whites, NSA Peach Applesauce
11:30am: Veggie Soup; Soy crisps
4:00pm: Low Carb Yogurt; Soy Crisps
5:30pm: Seafood Tacos (1 shrimp, 1 salmon); Pumpkin Ice Cream
8:00pm: Chocolate Chip Cookie
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: Chips-n-Salsa, more cookies
Sat: 80oz water; 8oz FF Chai latte; 16.9oz diet green tea; 2 amaretto-n-DC; 1 rum-n-DC; 2 margaritas:
8:10am: Oatmeal w/Apples & Raisins
12:45pm: Taco Salad (w/spring mix, turkey, cheese, LF sour cream); Chocolate Chip Cookie
3:45pm: Low Carb Yogurt; Kashi Crunch (1/4c)
5:30pm: Protein Bar; 2 slices of Cheese
7:00pm: 5 Chocolate-covered Pretzels; 2 Crackers-n-Meat-n-Cheese
WORKOUT: None (except hardcore house cleaning)
RESISTED: Cookies and candy at party, more cheese-n-crackers
Sun: 20oz water; 12oz FF Chai latte; 16.9oz diet green tea, 12oz DC:
8:30am: Carne Asada on Corn Tortilla
10:30am: Soy Crisps
1:30pm: 2 slices Ham-n-Pineapple Pizza
4:30pm: Cheez-Its (20)
7:00pm: Sonic Jr Burger; Tater Tots; Mini Baby Ruth
WORKOUT: Just getting out of bed was a workout :confused3
RESISTED: Nothing, didn't feel like eating anything but greasy hangover food :sad2:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jane, some people are so lucky that they can eat junk and still not gain an ounce! Those are the ones you just want to smack around... Great job resisting! We got a huge bag of chocolate from Costco to give out on Halloween. If there are any leftovers, they are going with DH to work! I have to manage to lose a couple lbs this week, I have no wiggle room to gain on the cruise!

Kate, I am finally feeling better. Sore throats are the worst. DD had a blast at the party, so I'm glad she at least got to do that much.

Amy, my DS better never let me catch him with that shock collar! I don't know why kids think that is so amusing... My friend takes Airborne all the time and I've heard other people say they take it too. I'm just a gambler I guess!!! :teeth: Yes, my ex is a real idiot. But that's why he's an EX!

CJK, I have discovered the trick to making cookies without eating them. Make them right after breakfast! I wasn't hungry and I wasn't tempted. It was as if a huge lighbulb went off... I can't wait for the cruise. I even got a brand new rolling garment bag (that has a built-in scale so I don't go over the 50lb limit!) so I am all set! :thumbsup2

Amy, I felt sick just reading your about rum and tequilla fiasco. I did something similiar about 5 years ago...I feel sick just thinking about it. We'd had a huge lunch and dh talked me into skipping dinner. (He didn't skip dinner, though.) At the club I'd had 4 madrises between 8pm and 1am. Unfortunately I didn't pass out - I was just plain sick all night long. I'll never do that again! :charac2:

Glad to hear that your daughter had a fun evening in spite of not being able to go to the slumber party. Great job on staying away from the Halloween candy!

Amy~
Glad your DD had fun at the party. Were the pictures REALLY at 7am? That's just crazy!
Wow....the amaretto-rum-tequila mix doesn't sound too good....i'm queasy just thinking about it! When I turned 21 we did shots all night....tequila, sambuca, & yeagermister (sp)...I broke 3 fingers and passed out at 11... :guilty: Just started getting used to the smell of tequila again...16 years later!!

Doing great on the food ('cept the hangover food, but that's forgivable!) Keep up the good work!

marie
