AmyM's Quest for a Better Bikini Body!

:grouphug: to you for a rough morning! my kids started back last monday, and so far, so good! This morning DH was off, so I let him deal w/ getting them ready. I don't know about you, but do you have to tell your kids EVERY SINGLE THING TO DO EVERY MORNING??!! brush your teeth, brush your hair, get dressed.....etc.....I told dh this morning that if i had to tell them to do the basics one more time, it was gonna cost them from their allowance.
We'll see!!
I'm sure ds is doing fine today....give him an extra hug and tell him to smile next time!! :sunny:

I felt awful this morning because it was the kids’ first day of school and they both looked so nice in their new school clothes. I wanted to take a picture and DS10 didn’t want to be in the same picture with DD7. I told him that I wanted to put it on my desktop at work, so he stepped over by her. Of course then he wouldn’t smile and I told him to smile and he snapped at me, saying he didn’t know how to smile. :furious: That REALLY ticked me off and then I did something stupid – I told him he was a brat and asked him why did he have to ruin my memory of their first day of the school year… :sad2: At the time I didn’t realize that I was probably ruining his memory by calling him a brat. :guilty: :guilty: I wish I could take this morning back. I just feel awful about it. I hope he goes on to have a good day at school, but who knows after the send-off he got this morning… He gave me a hug before he left, so it can’t be that bad, right?

RIGHT! :lmao: Been there - done that - it only gets worse!!!
My guys have never gotten along! When younger ds was in kindergarden performing with his graduating class he spied older ds in the audience & sat down on those bleachers. All of the other kindergardners were standing & singing their hearts out - NOT MINE! We couldn't even see him. He was furious that his older brother was there. Sometimes ya just can't win!

Hang in there, Amy! I'm anxious to hear how things go at the ND. If they don't conclude there's at least SOME hormone connection, I think I"ll explode!! I'm living in Hormone He!! and I think you are, too, from the sounds of it.

Hope you get good news and have a good rest of the week!

I did really good yesterday, which I usually do after a binge on junk… I go to the ND today after work, I can’t wait to see what she has to say! I’m sure I will have to get my hormones tested, and that is fine with me. I am curious to see if that is even the problem. The kids both had a great first day at school (thankfully DS wasn’t too traumatized from my insensitive remarks). I don’t know why I snapped like that, but I hope it doesn’t happen again any time soon! I think he has a crush on his teacher already. He told me she has blue eyes, and I have never heard him say anything like that about anyone else before! He also told me she was “awesome”. I’ll ask him again in a couple weeks, after the homework starts… Yesterday I drank 80oz water, 16oz green tea and a DC:

6:15am: Egg Beaters w/Spinach & Red Peppers; ½ Bran Muffin
8:30am: FF Cottage Cheese; Blueberries
11:30am: Spinach Salad (w/Tequila Lime Turkey; FF Feta, Bacon, Red & Orange Peppers, LF Dressing); Snap Peas-n-Hummus
2:30pm: 3 Egg Whites; Apple
6:30pm: 2 slices Ham Pizza (homemade); Dole Pineapple-n-Crème cup (yum)
10:00pm: 1/4c Honey Nut Cheerios (could have done without that!)
WORKOUT: Weights (30min); Treadmill (35min)
RESISTED: Cereal, Peanut Butter, Trail Mix, Peppermint Patties, Peanuts @ work

Amy, thanks for making me feel better about yesterday morning. It's always nice to know that you aren't the only one to make bad choices... My insurance will not cover NDs, so I can't even claim it as an out-of-network expense - it will get denied. Oh well, hopefully in a few months I will be straightened out and it will be worth every penny.

Marie, I also have to tell the kids everything. And even then it doesn't work. I can't tell you how many times I think they are getting dressed only to go in to check and DS is back in bed and DD is sitting in her underwear playing Barbies... :confused3

Jane, I can totally see DS doing that to DD! Aren't kids awful sometimes? DS thinks it is torture that he has to go to DD's dance recitals twice a year.

Julie, I don't know what I am going to do if the ND says my hormones are fine. That would mean all my self-diagnosis from internet research is wrong! I am also going to ask her about my eating and exercising. Maybe I am intolerant to some of the things I am eating. I'm sure it will take a while to figure out what is wrong, but I am willing to wait!

Hope the visit to ND goes well.
I think we have all snapped at our little darlings some time, try not to beat yourself up too much about it :)
Glad you jumped straight back on that wagon :)
Take care
Tracey xx

I hope you get some answers at the ND. Please share. I'm currently having a bad time with hot flashes - sometimes I think it could just be living in Florida. However, the other night at our friend's house I was dying. Afterwards, I asked dh "WAS IT HOT OR JUST ME?" for like the millionth time this year. Apparently, its just me!!! :confused3 Gotta get some more soy shakes.

Glad your son is happy with his teacher this year. I bet everyone just had a bad case of nerves the other day. We're all human, and you've had tons of stress lately. You also do a lot of things right!

My ND appointment went very well. I have to get some lab work done (hormones) and go back next week. She said there is definitely something not right because I eat and exercise like I should and I should not have gained 7lbs since March. She was also perplexed that my pulse was so low (42). She took it 4x and the highest it ever got was 52. I asked if that meant I was going to die from heart failure or something and she said that it probably just meant I have a very low pulse… :confused3 She put me on different vitamins/enzymes (with no iron) and magnesium to see if that helps my “blockage” issues. So, the saga continues! And I did REALLY bad last night. :guilty: That @&$^%# trail mix was just calling my name. I indulged, then topped it off with the rest of the Teddy Grahams (at least those are gone now). :sad2: I did compensate a little by not eating dinner, but geez, I need to get a grip! I have to keep a food diary for next week’s appointment. I am going to start with today’s food… Yesterday I drank 80oz water, 16oz green tea and a DC:

6:15am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:30am: FF Yogurt; Blueberries
11:30am: Ham-Spinach-Cheddar on Wheat; Baby Carrots
2:30pm: LF String Cheese; Nectarine; 10 Peanuts
6:30pm: Trail Mix (~1c); Pretzel Sticks w/LF Laughing Cow (2); Teddy Grahams (3/4c); Dole Apples-n-Crème Cup
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: Obviously nothing…

Tracey, I seemed to have jumped back off the wagon, but I am climbing back on today and I will rope myself in!

Jane, I will let you know what my hormone results are. She also mentioned that my lack of going #2 every day could also be causing some problems. She is trying to fix that problem with the vitamins and magnesium. She needed more info for the weight gain/hormone stuff. At least she listens, I was there for an hour, talking with her the whole time. I can ask her what she advises taking for hot flashes. My friend takes black cohosh and she swears by it.

I'm so glad she's doing all the testing. Sounds like you had a really good 1st visit. I'm anxious to hear the results. Maybe I'll have to take a trip to PHX & visit her myself!!

Have a great rest of the week! You WILL get back on track..

Hang in there....I'm sure everything will be alright....she just needs to get you on the right stuff.

Let us know what she says.

Amy, I'm glad your appointment went well. It sounds like they know what they're doing. I can't believe how low your blood pressure is. Doesn't that make you tired all the time?

A friend of mine lowered his cholestrol level and he claims that increasing fiber in his diet helped. I never would have thought it would work that way. You're doing the right thing trying to get answers. It may be something thats easy to implement. Stay on track! You're doing great.

Amy, I am so glad your ND appt. went well. It must feel really good to have a health care professional do something proactive and listen to your concerns! Thats interesting about the low pulse. I wonder what that means? I had a friend who had that and it was a low thyroid I think. In any case, I am glad you found someone you can trust who is taking the time to figure it all out. Glad the Teddy Grams are resting in peace! They sound like my Bugles! And that trail mix is just plain evil, tell your dh to keep his trail mix in his office or locked up in a place where only he has the key!

Hi Amy glad the appointment went well :) Hopfully they will get you sorted out quickly!
Dont worry about that pesky wagon you have enough on your plate
(not joking there honestly!!) :)
Just think all that climbing on & off the wagon can count as some exercise :)
Have a good day!

I had a great day yesterday. :thumbsup2 I went and got my lab work done, worked out and ate well. DS10 is taking Buckley to obedience school. It is once a week for 8 weeks. I can’t believe the difference after just one class! The intent is to train both the kid AND the dog, since DS has the gift to get that poor dog so aggravated and hyper. I think we will be very pleased after the 8 weeks are over. Yesterday I drank 80oz water, 16oz green tea and a DC:

6:15am: Egg Beaters w/Red Peppers; 1/2 Bran Muffin
8:30am: FF Yogurt; Blueberries
11:30am: Spinach Salad (w/chicken, FF feta, bacon, LF dressing, red peppers); Baby Carrots
2:00pm: 3 Egg Whites; Nectarine
6:30pm: EFL Goulash; Wheat Noodles; SF/FF Pudding; 2 Crème Savers
WORKOUT: Weights (30min); Elliptical (35min)
RESISTED: Trail mix; Peanuts; Dole Fruit-n-Crème Cups

Julie, I didn't think I'd like an ND, since I'm not into all that touchy, feely kind of stuff, but I was really impressed and I feel that she is genuinely eager to help find the root cause of my problems.

Marie, it won't be an overnight fix, but I have confidence that eventually she will get to the bottom of this. She said I looked really muscular (what a compliment!) and that I have nice teeth and really clean ears...

Jane, there are sometimes when I stand up too fast I will black out temporarily and I can't give blood anymore since it takes 30 minutes to fill up the bag and I feel like crap for the next 3-4 hours, but other than that, I don't know anything bad to come from the low pulse and blood pressure. She told me not to increase my fiber yet until she sees if this magnesium and enzymes works. That is great that your friend was able to lower his cholesterol so easily!

Amy, I am going to do some research on low pulse. I took it today and it was 53. I guess it's just low for me! It was great having someone listen and care about what was going on with my body. I totally agree with the trail mix. I will have to tell DH to get it out of the pantry and put it somewhere I will not see it...

Tracey, I could probably add 100 minutes a week for all the falling off/climbing back on the wagon these past couple weeks! :rotfl:

Glad you had a great day yesterday and that everything went well. :cool1: You owe ds big time for taking Buckley to school. Don't tell anyone but our dog failed. After 5 weeks of class I was tired of the pulling, whining & calouses on my hands. The teacher was wonderful and even phoned us at home trying to get us to complete the class but I just decided my dog would have to be a dropout. She never listened to a darn thing - she was super hyper all thru class. I swear I would have paid someone to take her. You've really lucked out; I hope you appreciate what your son is doing for you. :dogdance:

It sounds like your ND is on top of your health stuff. Hang in there!

Let me know how the obedience training goes.....I HAVE to get Gunner and DS11 enrolled soon!!! I'm just afraid the dog will pass, and the child won't!!

Glad yesterday went so well, don't you love it when that happens? I hope Buckley and your son enjoy obedience training. Poor Benjamin never went, I got pregnant with Matthew right after we got him and was on bedrest and then with a new baby it just never happened! Now look at him, 13 years later and he's still a pill! :rotfl2: Hopefully Buckley will do better than his distant cousin out here in Colorado. I am still really excited for you with this ND and what that will bring to you. I am also relieved to hear you have clean ears ;) ! Keep up the good work, you're doing so well.

I found an excellent wine at the store the other day. It was on clearance, so I went back and bought the remaining 2 bottles. I would have bought 10 of them, but there were only 2 left… I did good with eating (except for eating the kids crusts), hopefully that trend will continue over the weekend. The kids will be gone, so that is always a bad sign (meaning we go out, meet up with friends, etc). DH’s department is having layoffs coming up and they are supposed to get their notices today. Everyone in his department has been there 25+ years, so it is going to be very subjective as to who goes and who stays. We will not be destroyed financially if he is one of the unfortunate ones, but it will definitely put a damper on things… Please keep us in your thoughts! Yesterday I drank 80oz water, 16oz green tea, 1 glass Reisling and a DC:

6:15am: Chocolate Oatmeal
8:30am: LF Cottage Cheese (they were out of my FF kind!); Banana
11:30am: Ham-Spinach-Cheddar on Wheat; Baby Carrots
2:00pm: 3 Egg Whites; Nectarine; 12 Peanuts
6:00pm: 15 Snap Peas w/2tbsp Red Pepper Hummus
7:00pm: Bisquick Light BBQ Chicken Bake (1/6 of 9” pie); 2 Crusts (kids didn’t like it); SF/FF Pudding; 4 Crème Savers
WORKOUT: None
RESISTED: Trail mix; Dole Fruit-n-Crème Cups; Pretzels

Jane, DS has no choice - he is part of the problem with the dog (he gets him so wound up and the dog thinks he can nip at him while he's walking down the hall, etc). We are hoping this trains HIM how to treat the dog... DH said that Buckley did pretty good. There was one dog they had to put a muzzle on because it kept barking.

Marie, the dog is already doing better after 1 lesson! I can't wait to see how he progresses over the next 8 weeks. I have a friend who went to this class and he said it was great (it's at Petsmart).

Amy, I thought it was odd that she mentioned my teeth and ears, but I guess that just means she is observant! Buckley is fine with everyone in the family except DS. That's because he thinks he is above DS in the hierarchy. Not for long, dog!

Tracey, I think I am back on, with one foot dangling off the side... :rolleyes1

What is it with boys and dogs??? Its some sort of love/hate relationship. Same with my sons STILL! And they're 18 and 21! When my kids were young I used to wish that they had obedience schools for kids. Wouldn't it be great to take your kid to Toys R Us for a class on obeying your mother?!?

Great job with eating. I can't believe you eat the kids crusts! :lmao: Thats the worst part. I don't even eat mine half the time.

Have a great weekend!

Hi Amy, hope everything turned out okay with your husband's job. What a stressful nightmare that always is, been there, done that, still doin it for that matter! Sounds like your food is good, this weekend will be fine, even if you go off a bit, thats what a new day is for! Benjamin has always thought he was higher up on the family chain than either of my kids. Of course he was here first but still! Beagles, what can I say? Hope you are having a good weekend and that things turned out well, sending some :wizard: you way! Oh, and I think ND look at things a bit differently. Good teeth and ears are thought to be a sign of good overall health I believe and I think ND's are just better at recognizing and accepting that sort of thing. In any case its a good thing to know!
