AmyM's Quest for a Better Bikini Body!

Amy - wow about the dairy stuff!! After I had DD I was totally lactose intolerant....had to use lactaid. DOn't know if that's the problem or not...but, like you...i say screw it for a piece of cheesecake!!!

The piano bar sound like fun....glad your friend had a good b-day....sounds like she deserved it!

Have a great day tomorrow!!

WORKOUT: Step class (60min) and Muscle class (60min) :banana:

And I must be getting back into shape because I'm not sore!!! :yay: We went out to eat yesterday. I did have ~20 chips w/salsa, but I didn't go hog wild. And for dinner I got shrimp with grilled onions and pineapple over Spanish rice. I only ate maybe 1/3c of rice and NO margarita!!! I had eaten 785 calories before we went to dinner, and I'm guessing the dinner to be around 500-600cal? So I was in my range, or at least pretty close to it!! :thumbsup2

Today I am supposed to go to TBK. I am already trying to talk myself out of it. It's not my favorite teacher (she just doesn't give that hard of a workout, luckily she just teaches every other Sunday). I might just go and do the treadmill instead. We'll see! THe rest of the day will be spent cleaning this disaster called my house!!!

-Carefully remove lid, stir, recover and microwave on High for 6 more minutes
-Stir in green beans, cover and let sit for 3-4 minutes
Makes 5 servings, 286cal, 2g fat, 45mg cholesterol, 45g carb, 2g fiber, 23g protein, 1710mg sodium

Tracey, maybe one of these times I go to the UK (I have at least 3 trips this year) I will be able to make it up to Nottingham to see you. But as you can see, I might have a hard time sticking to only 1 cocktail!! :rolleyes1

Marie, I am sitting here drinking a SOY chai latte. It's different, but I think I could get used to it. I am going to be completely blown away if milk has been my problem this whole time. I'll give my experiment a couple more weeks to decide!! :)

Thanks for the recipe. When I saw mac'n'cheese as the first ingredient, I knew the kids would like it! I have all those ingredients. I think I'll try it for Monday's dinner! :thumbsup2

:banana: :banana: :banana: Yea for having a good workout! Great job at the restaurant too. :banana:

I hear ya on the disaster house. The last of Christmas WILL get put away today!

Have a great Sunday. :sunny:

Way to go on getting all that exercise done :cool1:
Did you make TBK? - whatever that is!!!!

Great job on your exercise, Amy!:goodvibes Keep up the good work!:cheer2:

I didn't get a chance to make those meatloaf muffins this weekend... We went out of town on Saturday and I was too tired to go shopping for ground meat on Sunday. When I do make them, I'll let you know how they turn out.:thumbsup2

Hope you have a great week ahead!:goodvibes

WORKOUT: Total Body Conditioning (60min) :yay:

My friend talked me into going to class yesterday, I'm glad she did! I am officially back in shape!! :thumbsup2 I get tired during the class, but I no longer get sore. What a great feeling!

The scale was steady all weekend, then this morning it was 3lbs up! :mad: But my ring is super tight and I know TOM is going to "show up" any day now, so I am not going to stress about it. I know it's water weight and will go away as quickly as it appeared. ::yes::

It actually SNOWED here yesterday!! :cold: I'm sure most of my landscaping is ruined. This weather has been absolutely unbelievable! And just think, last winter it was so mild and only got under 70 degrees a couple times. I guess this is payback!!!

My calories were a little higher yesterday, but hey, it's the weekend!!! Totals were 1515 cal, 59g fat, 185g carb, 78g protein and 27g fiber. I've got to get to the grocery store today, I was in a very foul mood yesterday and just didn't go. :sad2: I also need to concentrate on getting my fat intake lowered! Baby steps, baby steps...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anna, at least my Christmas stuff is put away, I just have a layer of dust on everything... :rolleyes1 I did get the 2 main bathrooms and kitchen scrubbed, but there are still plenty of rooms left to clean! I really love my "Busy People's Lowfat Cookbook". That is where I get lots of my new recipes, you should check it out! Tomorrow I am going to make chicken-n-potato stew in the crockpot.
Tracey, TBK is Total Body Conditioning class, which I renamed to Total Butt Kick class. But it doesn't kick my butt anymore, so I guess I can go back to calling it TBC!!! ;)
Tracy, thanks! I hope you get to try the new recipe soon, I'm sure it will be a hit!
You are doing great on your workouts, Amy! Keep up the good work!:cheer2:
I can't believe how strange the weather has been this year! Just a few weeks ago, it was 50 degrees and sunny here when it is normally cold and snowy and places like Arizona, New Mexico, and parts of California that are usually warm are getting snow!:scared1: Stay warm! I hope your landscaping is okay....
Have a great day! :)
Hi Amy, sounds like you had a good weekend with the working out in particular. Good for you! And your food looks very good, esp. for a weekend. I am so glad you had fun with your friend, its sounds like she really deserved to let loose and have a ball. I hope her good health returns for good. Dh has a cousin whose fiancee is now 10 years clean with that same disease. I didn't get to the Daisy pix again, maybe this week! She really does exist! Keep up your hard work, and don't even worry about that pms weight gain, it'll come off very soon.
Boy, did I have a rough day!!! :sad2: I'll just spit out the bad news first - no workout and my totals were 1873cal, 87g fat, 160g carbs, 128g protein, 36g fiber. :guilty: The only good thing is that my fiber was up!!!
TOM started, which is good because hopefully that extra weight will soon go away. However, I was just an eating machine. I didn't eat tons, I only had 2 extra snacks, they were just really poor choices. I had 1 serving of M&M's (210cal) and 1 serving of Flax Snax (177 cal) in addition to my planned SF dark chocolate (60cal). I also had almonds, which always bump those totals up...
But today is a new day, right? All I can do is get over it and move on. I am STILL dealing with the insurance to get DS's teeth pulled! I called again today and hope to hear something back soon. He lost one of his molars yesterday, but it was on the top. The other tooth is already coming in. His teeth just don't want to fall out. I told him to stop losing the top ones and start losing the bottoms so he won't have to go get them pulled! Oh well, he doesn't listen to me any other time, why should this be any different?? ;)
Looks like I will be making 2 trips to Germany in Feb, and 1 to California in late Feb/early March. :eek: I can kiss Greece goodbye, too many other trips. :sad1: Guess I'll have to actually pay to go there on vacation someday!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracey, we finally got our backyard looking nice last year and now we'll have to start over. Bummer!!!

Amy, that is wonderful news about your cousins fiancee, very promising for my friend. I did great this weekend only to blow it yesterday. But I am going to take my own advice and not dwell on it! :thumbsup2

I've been to Greece & personnely didnt like it that much, so maybe you wont be missing anything! Still i know its nice to check places out yourself!
Well done for getting to the gym :)
Snow & ice over here too!
It was proberbly TOM's fault you ate a bit more too!
I always crave chocolate when TOM is around!
Hope DS's teeth get sorted :)
Have a great week
Tracey x

:hug: Amy,

TOM certainly is a pain isn't it?:headache: It's been hanging around for two weeks for me and I am ready to give it the boot!

Hope you have a great day tomorrow!:goodvibes

Hi Amy, you know its funny, they say women who hang out together get on the same cycle. I am noticing that several of us in my little WISH circle are on the same cycle! Even via cyberspace our ovaries are bonding! TOM is about to get me too, personally the days before feel like waiting for doomsday. That weight will come off very quickly. And overeating, especially higher fat foods is part of it. I think you did pretty well. M&M's and menstruation go hand in hand. They should call them M&M&M's! Too bad about Greece, maybe CA will be warmer. I saw it was snowing in Tucson, how close is that to you? I swear I didn't mean to send it to you again!

Hi, Amy! Happy Hump Day!

Too bad Greece isn't going to work out, but maybe CA will turn out to be just what you need then.

Hope your plants survive. I remember just after we moved from PHX to Iowa it snowed a bit. Such weird weather!

Have a great rest of the week. TOM - go away!!

Another day of not-so-stellar food choices. I did fine until the evening, when I ate some M&M's (I could really smack my mom for giving those to DD for her recital!). They are almost gone, at least from the candy dish. There is still half a bag in the pantry, but for some reason those don't tempt me...

Weight is still way up, bloating all around, depression kicking in. I can't believe a year ago I was 134 and complaining about that. Why do I feel like I am the only one on WISH gaining weight? Today stinks, hopefully tomorrow will be better...

And another thing that has been ticking me off - we got a new woman in our group (which is weird enough since I am used to being the only woman) and she is nice and I knew her from her previous position. She is tiny, about 5"1' and 100lbs soaking wet. And on her desk she has a jar of chocolates, a bag of Reese's pieces and another bag of chocolates. And I have to walk by her desk to get to the main hallway, restroom, etc (she's right on the corner). Last time I walked by there she had about 6 crumpled up wrappers on her desk. NOT FAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday's totals were 1521cal, 57g fat, 133g carbs, 127g protein and 24g fiber. Not the best, but not as bad as Monday. Today will be better, I am going to the gym for 90 minutes worth of classes. Maybe that will make me feel better. But probably not, since I'll be ticked off at how gross I look in my gym clothes... :sad2: OK, I'm done whining now...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracey, DH also wants to go to Greece, I think he is secretly happy I don't get to go for work!! I'd rather go with him anyway. :love:
Tracy, since my surgery last year, I only get the lovely symptoms of TOM, which is bad enough! I should be happy I only have to deal with half of the equation, shouldn't I?
Amy, I've just been so ticked off with my lack of progress (I really thought I was getting somewhere last week!) that it makes me want to give up and eat whatever I want. Heck, if I eat healthy and work out all the time and get the same results when I eat crap and lounge around, why bother?!?! Oops, there I go whining again... Tucson is about 2 hours south of here, but it snowed here as well. Quite the sight!
Julie, thanks for stopping by. I don't even know where in CA I will be going, but I've been there tons of times and quite frankly am not looking forward to it... I'll gladly take our normal AZ weather back, I don't like this cold weather nonsense!!!
Sorry for being MIA. You are having a down slump. Don't give up. You know rationally that eating right and exercising are making for a healthier you even if the scale doesn't go down. Have you met with the ND recently? Maybe she would have an explanation.
Sorry about the Greece trip, but it will be better as a vacation without the work pressure, and with all the FF miles from the other trips, you and DH can fly for free (maybe even first class!) and have a fabulous vacation! Hopefully, we can provide some better weather for you when you get to CA, but who knows. :confused3 It has been so crazy. As cold as its been, we have actually gotten very little rain/snow. The kids and I are supposed to go skiing the first two weeks of April for Spring Break, but at this point, I'm not sure there will be enough snow to ski :confused3 .
I made the Presto Sausage Casserole Monday night and everyone liked it - another keeper! Also thanks for the cookbook recommendation. I'm definitely going to get that one. I have a number of Lowfat cookbooks and Quick dinner cookbooks, but not any that are both. This one looks great. :banana:
Thanks so much for the PM's! I really appreciate them.
:hug: Amy,
Keep on keeping on!:cheer2: You have been doing such a great job with your exercise and food.... Please don't let a couple of off days get you down... You will get back OP and you will meet the weight loss goal that you set out to! You CAN do this, Amy!:cheer2:
Have a great Thursday!
Yeah skinny people who can eat tons of junk and remain skinny should be banned from the planet. You are not the only one on WISH not losing and I also might add that your goals/situation is different from many others. You have very, very little to lose and that is in some ways a much more difficult and generally lengthier process. If you look at this in a ratio sense than you will see that it would be very bad for you to lose large amounts of weight. Blame it on age, thats what I do! The bottom line is that you are working hard, eating and exercising right and that has more health implications than just a scale number. Remember that even if you can eat junk and remain close to the same weight that is still risky. I have known some skinny people who ate junk and dropped dead because they still had high cholesteral and bad hearts. So keep doing the right thing for your body and if the scale doesn't show it know that your long life will! Don't get discouraged, you have too much going for you to give up now. And throw out the rest of the M&M's before they wind up in the bowl (or in your tummy) too!
WORKOUT: Abs-n-Buns (30min), Cardio Mix (60min) :yay:
I had a great day yesterday with both eating AND working out. I'm still super bloated, but there is nothing I can do about it except hope it goes away soon. Scale still hates me (and the feeling is mutual) so I don't expect anything spectacular for tomorrow's weigh-in. Totals were 1250cal, 49g fat, 87g carbs, 116g protein and 21g fiber. If anyone has any non-complex carb fiber suggestions, please share them! I discovered a new, healthy snack. Celery with LF Laughing Cow. I always loved celery-n-pb but the calories are just too high most days. And I can't eat celery by itself, YUCK!
Thanks for all the encouragement yesterday, I was really down in the dumps but you all made me feel much better! :grouphug:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anna, I probably should make an appointment with the ND. I actually have been thinking about it, but I want to make sure I am following her previous suggestions before I go. Plus I am starting another food journal for her, since I know she will ask about it!

Tracy, I have had the same goal for 2 years now and I am going in the wrong direction! My goal is to be at 125 by July 1st. That is less than 1lb per week, but I know that is so hard for me...

Amy, I plan on sending the M&M's with DH to work tomorrow. The kids think they are gone since there are no more in the candy dish, so they won't even know! Thanks for smacking some reality back into me, sometimes I get so upset that I am doing everything right but not seeing results. I know I need to continue to work out and eat right to 1) stay healthy and 2) teach my kids good lifelong habits. You'd think a kickin' bikini bod would come along with that, but apparently that is not the case!!!

Hi Amy sorry you was down yesterday, but glad your feeling more positive today :)
As for feeling like your the only one on the wish journals who is gaining - HAVE you read mine???? I'm putting it down to the time of year & did you know that this week is officially the most depressing week of the year!!!
Heard that on the news today!
FRIDAY tomorrow :)

Sometimes is just hard to keep a good attitude and feel positive when this is such a long, neverending challenge! But it sounds like you are feeling better today. Your cheese and celery snack sounds good, way fewer fat and calories than pb so good job coming up with a good alternative. And good job sending those m&m's to dh's office! Dont' worry about the bloating, it will go away, just one of the many lovely joys of being a woman huh? Keep up your hard work because it is working!
