LOL I know! I was in Target today and they had Halloween mixed with Thanksgiving, and an aisle over were just a few Christmas items!! :rotfl2:

I got this postcard in the mail today from Disney and it had the pic that's in my sig on it, so I took a picture of it, edited it and put it in my sig. I figured if the stores could celebrate all the holidays in one shot, so could I. :rotfl:

Mine are from www.bestsmileys.com

More Halloween shopping!! :yay:

At Target and Walmart this weekend I stocked up on a few snack items. I can use them in the kids lunches and for our trip. :thumbsup2

I should say that I took my daughter Noelle shopping with me and she is so like her dad it's unreal!! I was ooooh-ing and aaaah-ing over all the fun/cute grocery items (remember me saying I'm a SUCKER for themed packaging?!?!?) and she looks at me and says, "But it's the same stuff they always have just in a different box."

I told her that's what makes it so cute! ;)

Then later on as we were walking through the store, I kept stopping and looking at all the Halloween stuff and she says to me, "Mom! You can't stop and look at everything that has a pumpkin on it!!" :lmao:

Poor thing. She was getting so frustrated with me. LOL

I bought some Teddy Grahams, Oreos, Jones soda, popcorn balls, applesauce, Goldfish crackers, Mother's cookies, paper plates, paper towels, Halloween cupcake holders, etc.

Good thing I'm not eating junk right now! And my kids don't eat much of that kind of stuff so all that will last for quite a while, even with them taking it in their lunches for dessert.

Noelle found a tee she liked at Walmart for $3.50 like her sister's tees were. It's all black with an orange jeweled cat. It's simple but cute.

And I found one for $4 at Target that I liked for Adam. It reminds me of the Calico Ghost Train ride at Knott's Scary Farm. I miss that place!!

DSCF5562.jpg

Then Noelle picked out this flourescent green trick or treat bag for her candy. She is going as an 80's Valley Girl, so the bright color will work perfect with her costume. Oh, and she wanted the glow in the dark silly string. LOL

DSCF5559.jpg

Anyway we had a lot of fun shopping for all this fun silly stuff. No doubt I'll be getting more of it. In fact I was at Target again today and bought more Halloween cupcake decorating items (I'll be making them for Ruben's work) and I saw some Halloween themed Soft Soap and Ziplock baggies that I think I need. :rolleyes1 Hey, those are useful items right? :rotfl:

I don't buy water at Disney either. We usually bring our own, which can be a hassle to lug around. I didn't know that they will give you free ice water at the CS places! Thanks!! Maybe then I won't have to haul so many water bottles into the park. :thumbsup2

hey heres another tip...over at the first aid office...right when you walk in the door, to the left is a water fountain...its filtered water and cold as all get out...if you bring water bottles into the park you can just send someone to go fill them up when they are empty:goodvibes

The only thing I cannot do, is make it to rope drop. I have NEVER been there for rope drop and probably never will be.

hey Beth, when you go, wont park hour openings be at 10? You really really should go at least once while you're there...I love hearing the Welcome Song blasting out...it just makes me deliriously happy:cloud9:

ok so I found this video of Halloween at DLP and is it me or is some of the stuff not up to the standards we have become accustomed to with disney not there...like in the some of these decorations (especially the witches) also they give us seriously tame stuff here in the US...some of those pumpkins and witches scared me:rotfl:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=01frCMlxdzw&feature=related

its a pretty long video but if you watch the first few minutes of it you will see what I mean...alot of it just didnt seem disney to me:confused3

I found another Disney song I love much to my children's dismay. Just because I've played it over and over, I don't know why they are annoyed with me. ;)

gah you took my song:headache: haha I have this one because I am planning on doing a video of my wdw/dcl trip next year and Im going to put that song on it...now everyone knows about the song...thanks alot beth:snooty: :rotfl2:

ps I dont know if I want to do DLP...you have to wait through 3 or 4 languages to hear them say something in english sheesh...we are so the minority over there:laughing:

Beth- you and I sound alike. I love all the dang packaging haha. I bought those animal cookies, so cute in orange and white. I also bought some jones soda's too. Usually our neighborhood does the boo-grams to each other, so I picked up a few things to go in a basket for a neighbor or two. Fun fun.
I bought DD the black shirt with a sparkly pumpkin on it and realized when I got home there is a hole in the sleeve! I wish they had that one with the cat on it at our Target's. I haven't seen that one, but it is so cute!

Thanks for the reminder on the water! I'd read that on the DIS before, but since I never go to the First Aid area usually, I've never been to get water there. But if it's hot, which it very well might be, that would be a great place to get some cold water. :thumbsup2

Yeah, the park opens pretty late on some of the days we are there. I wasn't sure when it opened that late if they still make a big deal about it with the songs and all. If they do, then maybe we will try for it one day.

I love that video from DLP. I agree it does seem spookier then the way Disneyland in CA does it. I like it though. LOL Interesting to see how different things are. Thanks for sharing that link.

Oops! Sorry. LOL I'd never heard that song before and I love it. But it will still be special because it will be with your video. ;) And not everyone will know about it now, only the 5 or 6 people out there reading this thing. :rotfl:

I'm not sure I'd ever do DLP either. I've never been interested in traveling outside of the U.S. for anything really. I've just always felt there is so much I want to see and do within the different states.

Oh good! Another sucker for packaging. LOL We are exactly the sort of people the marketing execs love. :rotfl2:

I'm so jealous you get to do those Boo-Grams! Those look like so much fun! And I noticed they have packages with like two or three little treats that say you've been Boo'ed so you can take them to work and put them on people's desks. That's something I would totally do!!!
Unfortunately I don't work and we don't know any of our neighbors. :sad2: Oh well.

As for the tee, the one with the cat is actually from Walmart. It was so cheap, only $3.50. If you have a Walmart near you, see if they have it there.

Walmarts are like Starbucks around here, you can't turn a corner without running into one.

Thanks for the DLP Halloween video! That was way cool. This video shows the decorations but cut differently with different music/shots. I liked it, too... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UX62xe_LCr0&feature=related

I think if you remember the spirit (no pun intended :lmao: ) of the Haunted Mansion... there are no (obvious) Mickey Mouse or Donald Ducks in there! That's a SCARY ride!! Walt wasn't afraid to say, HEY, being scared can be fun! Yes, I know, I know.. the point isn't to scar the children.. :lmao: But back in the ole days you had some scare with your day and it was alright. LOL

I think the DLR Halloween decorations are "cute" but REALLY aniseptic. I like my Halloween a scosh scarier... not Knott's Scary Farm, dripping with blood, scary but just a TINY bit creepier than a scare-crow and some orange garland.

Travelmel <------- DUCKING

It's cute though! Especially for the little tykes. :)

EDIT: here's a link to a Tokyo DL Halloween.. seems like a nice "middle ground" beteen DLP and DLR. It's filmed at night which makes it look really cool, too!

Beth,

I love all your Halloween themed foods! Too cute. I like to get the Halloween lunch ziplock baggies from the $1 store to put all my Halloween shaped food in. But, typically, I'm too cheap for that big of a haul! You go girl!

:thumbsup2

I also LOVE your Haunted Railway shirt. I'm going to look for that at our local Tar-jay. :cool2:

I know what you mean. I love everything Halloween though. I used to love going to Knott's Scary Farm with my husband when we were dating. And now with the kids, I like doing the cutesy Disney Halloween too. I'll take either one. :rotfl:

I like scary movies too but it's so hard to find a good scary movie these days. Too many people confuse scary with gory, kwim? Movies like Hostel or Saw do not appeal to me at all. They don't scare me, they just gross me out.
Being grossed out is not the same as a good edge of your seat scary movie.

Yes! The Dollar Store has those baggies too. :thumbsup2 There is a lot more I'd love to buy, but I do try (emphasis on try) to stick to things we will actually use. It's hard to resist certain things though.

Right now I'm on the lookout for cute Halloween cupcake ideas. (I like to send in baked goods to Ruben's work.) If anyone has any, let me know. :)

My best cupcake idea is, that you should bring me some!!! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

:rotfl: No kidding. LOL

Ok, this is more of what I had in mind:

Those are so cute. They look kind of time consuming to make though. I'm not sure I have the patience.
And I don't know if I really want to buy lots of little extras I have to add to them. It makes it look cute but it could get expensive.

ANOTHER EDIT: I forgot I had some pics of this stuff!

One year we had a pretty cool Halloween party:

EDIT: That was funny... I wrote "party" but I got all those dancing balloons instead!

Anyway, we made some "themed" foods....

Frozen fried tortellini = wearwolf ears

Frozen something else = werewolf puppy bones! - it was a stretch! lol
HalloweenParty2004024-2.jpg

Chicken wings = Bat wings

grocery store turkey roasting pan filled with grape nuts then add unwrapped tootsie roll candy = CAT BOX (ewww!)
HalloweenParty2004015-1.jpg

frozen raspberries suspended in jello = batbrain jellow

deviled eggs with black olives = monster eyes

pillsbury dough crescents wrapped around a hot dog, yellow mustard eyes with ONE tiny black poppyseed in the middle of each yellow mustard eye for a good effect = mummy dogs

Tomato soup with sour cream in a swirl then take a toothpick and pull the swirl out from the center to the sides = blood and cobweb soup!

HalloweenParty2004048-1.jpg

and some other stuff I can't remember.

Oh yea! Gingerbread skeletons
HalloweenParty2004014-1.jpg

All the food had little computer generated "name tags" to tell guests what was what (helps set the mood)

I wasn't going to dress up but at the last minute I got in the "spirit" -I know, I know- I made my face white and drew some spiders down my neck then wore my favorite "spider webb-y" type shirt and was a "haunted soccer mom"

Small budget costumes and decor!

Yep, I like Halloween :) ROFL

This year it's on a FRIDAY and i am SO tempted to re-visit my party days! it's hard to do when it's a school night :(

Then we played a game where you put stuff in brown bags and turn out all the lights, blindfold the kids, and tell a scary (it was pretty tame, my husband made it up.. it was GREAT..something about kids getting lost in the woods and coming across a broken down shack). As the story progresses you pass around the bags and tell the kids that things like unpeeled grapes are witches eyeballs and cooked but plain spaghetti is worms, and canned pinto beans (drained) can be bugs, yarn was witch hair... anyway, the kids put their hands in the bag and feel the stuff and it is SO creepy!!

My kids will always remember that one. I still have the story if anybody is interested! We did this when I was a kid in Brownies and it ALWAYS stayed with me. In fact, that single activity may be why I like Halloween so much today!

That Halloween party sounds awesome!! :worship:

I remember doing something like that when I was a kid!! I don't have any clue what the story was, but I do remember we sat in a circle and it was really dark, and we passed around tupperware filled with different items like you suggested that went along with the story. It was great.

I'd like the story if you have it. :flower3: Just PM it to me whenever you get a chance. Maybe I'll do something like that for my kids this year.

ETA: OH! I love the pics!!! Thanks for sharing.

Since I couldn't find the "Real" story anywhere, my husband made this one up and we improvised! I was so proud of him! :hippie:

It was a brisk foggy day much like today. Three hikers decided to set off on
a long hike to collect fall leaves. They brought along a number of paper
bags to carry their sample foliage.

After hiking for a couple of hours the group noticed that the sun had given
way to darkening clouds. At that moment they also realized that they were
lost. They knew that they had been hiking west for most of their trip so
they decided to try to retrace their steps and head back east.

The winds started picking up and what was a light misting became a downpour.
It was at that moment that the trio noticed a cabin a few hundred yards
away. They made a dash toward the cabin. The closer they got the colder it
seemed to get.

When they got to the cabin they knocked loudly on the door. There was no
answer. They turned the knob and found that it was unlocked. They were in
luck, or at least they thought they were until they opened they door. It was
at that moment that a cold chill ran down their spines.

They couldn't see anything inside. It was too dark. But they did notice a
strong smell of mold. They fumbled around looking for a light switch or
lantern. Finally one of them found a box of matches and lit one. What they
saw made them all gasp.

The place was covered in spider webs, but through them they could see dark
items strewn across the tables and hanging from the ceiling. They thought of
running away, but their curiosity got the better of them. They found candles
on the tables and lit them so they could get a better look.

They had to tell someone, but who would believe them. And they weren't sure
they could ever find their way back. One of them got the idea to use the
paper bags they brought for collecting leaves to store some of the items
from around the cabin.

The hikers did manage to make it back to civilization when the rains let up.
They told the police what they had found and a search party was arraigned to
try to find the cabin. After weeks of searching the police gave up their
search and closed the case. The only proof that the cabin ever existed was
the items collected in the bags.

The hikers were disappointed that the police stopped searching. So every
year they gather up the evidence and try to convince a new group of people
to help them search for the cabin. After you examine the evidence maybe you
will join them, if you feel you are brave enough.

What a guy!

P.S. I edited my "party" post with added pics... hope you like 'em!
