Amtrak Information Needed

We are looking at being in Florda with family sometime in Sep.
Thought it would be a great time to take DD12 on her first train ride.
I found a trip from Deland to Tampa (round trip) for $70 total for the three of us.
Is this a good price?
Do the prices fluctuate a lot like they do for airlines?
Should I hold off and keep an eye on the site for a lower fare?
Any help or advice on all of this would be appreciated. TIA!

Same questions still apply, however.
Also, anyone ever ridden this route to know how many stops we would have between Deland and Tampa?
I can't make sense of their time schedule!
I want the ride to be one DD can enjoy, not spending 75% of the time stopped in stations.

Haven't done your specific route, but I do long-distance Amtrak trains many times during the year

Fares can move around, but you always have the option to cancel and re-book: Amtrak does not charge change or cancellation fees.

Stops at most stations are a minute or two.

Although you are only going to be on the train for an hour or two, the train you are getting on to is a long distance one: it starts in New York, traveling down the east coast. Which means that it can be extremely late, depending on conditions to the north. Like an hour. Or two. Or eight. Or twenty-four. Just be prepared, and check status often.

Like PP said the trains can and a lot of times are laate. you can go on to the Amtrak site and see the past arrivals and see how late the train was.
