Train schedules for most Amtrak trains to and from Orlando, Kissimmee, Winter Park, and Sanford will be changing effective August 1. That isn't much notice; even if you already have confirmed reservations from the current timetable, your departure and arrival times will probably be different.
From Amtrak (paraphrased):
The Sanford, Florida station will be closed permanantly. Passengers will have to go south to Winter Park or north to Deland. This applies to all trains which used to stop there: 91/92, 97/98, and 1/2. The adjacent Auto-Train terminal, of course, remains unaffected (supposed to get the complete $1.5 million remodeling, similar to Lorton, Virginia). Sanford for Auto-Train and Sanford for all other trains were seperate stations, and only the "regular" station is closing.
The Silver Star will operate about one hour to 90 minutes later southbound, and approximately 3 1/2 hours earlier northbound. The southbound Silver Meteor departs New York at the same time as now, but times at subsequent stations may be as much as 30 minutes later. Northbound, the Meteor operates 3 hours to 3 hours 45 minutes earlier than current schedules. Please note that these times are not exact, so don't count on your train showing up exactly one hour later (for example) than the schedule you had before!
Auto-Train and Sunset Limited schedules are unchanged.
