We just booked the AutoTrain for 6/27 using the special Buy One Get One Fare offer (Code H255). 
For a family of four, with our own car, we got a round trip rate of $576 - Coach ( the smallest sleeper doubled the price ).
We have never taken the AutoTrain - I hope it will be a fun adventure.
