Amtrak Auto Train to Orlando

Did anyone go to WDW by using the Auto Train from VA to Sanford, FL? Any opinions? I am thinking of doing this with my son instead of doing a drive which is sure to drain my energy. THe fare seems pretty high for Sleeper Car. Anyone travel on this? Is the Reserved Coach good? Thanks.

Hi! We did this about 3 years ago with three kids.
The coach, was fine. And my kids considered it an "adventure"

Here is the down side...
Some people are not very "considerate of others"
We had one family who let their kids run wild on train and when 90% of us were trying to sleep, these kids kept running up and down the aisle and opening closing the doors between cars... not much sleep to be had.

The seats were ok.. you definately want to bring pillows.

The waiting to get your car back is not a short one. Unless it's a little car.. sometimes you get lucky.
The food was nothing to write home about.. we had bought snacks as well. I'd actually consider doing again.. but my husband would rather drive.

We did it twice when I was growing up. Can tell you from a child's perspective it was very cool. something fun and different to do. the youngest of us would have been about 6 so we were past the toddler can't sit still stage. We played cards and games, and did sleep in the sits. At that point they had a cocktail lounge on the second floor of a car. it had an entire glass ceiling and was called the star light lounge. They let kids in and we all sat at a table drinking cokes with my folks and looking at the stars. One of those lifetime memory moments.

We took it home in Sept 2002 and plan on taking it again this December. We went with Coach and had no problems.
