Amtrack?

we have been taking amtrak to disney the last 4 - 5 years. i am the one who doesnt like to fly. my daughter 14 1/2 just asked the other day, mom can we please fly this summer?? lol. i think shes at the age where she prob. wont want to go. lol. we have only had the reserved coach seating. I try to check out prices for sleeper car but they are usually high. Also we always bring my daughters friend, so that adds another room also. We had had decent train rides, (clean , not running late, etc) and we have had a couple of times the train ran 3 - 4 hours late from NYC to ORL. i guess its not the best way to get there but if you dont like to fly this is it. We have gone in Oct.June and August. We make sure that we wear or bring in our over night bags like a long sleeve jersey, pants and a jacket cause with the AC it gets really chilly. We also bought a blanket on the train one year. The last 2 summers i have packed a little roll on s.case with snacks (wheat thins, crackers, granola bars, etc.) they do have snacks but sometimes they run out of things and also its like 1.75 for M&M or a candy bar. of course i buy diet pepsi and tea, coffee on the train. The dining car really isnt that bad either. They have some good meals. My dd brings books, cds,etc to keep busy. They had movies one time on the way down and back. last summer just on the way home. i also bring like wet wipes, stuff like that . let us all know how you make out. Like i said , i have realatives that tried the train and said never again, but for me i deal with it so i can see DISNEY.lol any questions, please ask.

We took the train down from Rhode Island to Orlando last March. I got great advice from the amtrack reservation person and I thought I'd pass it along as it was the best advice we got.
"Send your luggage to Orlando a day ahead. When you get to Orlando its already there waiting for you."
We didn't have to worry about dragging 4 suitcases and 2 children around the train station. We used 1 small carryon and a couple of backpacks. We think next year when we go back we won't even bring the backpacks. It was great advice and we will do the same again next year.
Like others we got 2 rooms instead of going coach. We LOVED it. It was like a mini vacation to us. We actually looked forward to going back to the train after our Disney vacation was over. Great family bonding time!

We took the same sort of advice for our train trip, but we mailed our stuff down to the hotel so it would be at the hotel when we got there.
Our trip from Boston to Orlando was awesome and would do it again in a heartbeat.
