I'm off to Amsterdam in 10 days time. I've never been before and would welcome any suggestions. I've found loads of places I would like to visit but have to narrow it down. Any recommendations (suitable for children) would be really welcome.

Here's a few ideas:

Canal boat trip
Rembrant (or is it Van Gogh?) Museum
Bloomen Market (Floating flower market)
Dam Square
Anne Franks house
Visit a Diamond centre

If you have the time, I would *strongly* recommend a visit to De Efteling Park, an amazing themepark based on fairytales with some truly great rides which can even match the magic of Disney :)

Okay, I haven't been there yet, but i REALLY want to go. Every Efteling visitor I have talked to seems to have loved it. The park has tons of stuff for kids to do, so it would be worthy of a visit if you have a day to spare :)

Efteling however closes after Sunday 27th October for the Winter.

More info on this beautiful park:

P.S. I'm not sure about taking your children to Anne Frank's House, a friend of mine has just came back from Amsterdam and she said it was quite a sad and upsetting atmosphere in there, lots of people crying :(

Thanks for the suggestions. Efteling looks beautiful but I don't think we will have time.

...... I have been to Efteling and it is quite a distance from Amsterdam - we didn't go to Amsterdam but from Hook Van Holland drove directly to Efteling so I'm afraid I cannot help with your question Tracy.
