Amputation

I found some examples of this in the Homecoming pics I took last weekend. This pic cut off above her knees

looks much better than this one at her knees.

It does look alot better. It also helps to tightly crop the subjects, but the whole knee thing on a tightly cropped shot would still be bothersome for some reason. I like the crop that you did. It looks more correctly composed.

My brother took a photo of Aladdin and myself a few years back. He amputated half my body....the left half. <sigh> If I can find that photo, I'll post it.

I find some of the Disney Photopass photographers are the worst at amputations.

Here is the pic cropped square. I think it is a substantial improvement. What do you think?

I've also been told that it is best not to cut off your subjects head. I know that for some people it seems like it would be a good idea, but composition rules say otherwise.

Ha! A while ago, my parents, brother and I went on a rather momentous trip. As usual, I was doing all the photography and video taping. At point, as we were climing a heck of a lot of stairs towards a tourist trap of a Bhuddist temple, I gave my video camera to my dad. I told him that I wanted to show that I was actually on this vacation and here I am climbing all these steps. So he videotaped me....

Got home, plunked the tape into the machine and there I was...or rather...my FEET climbing up those steps. He neglected to videotape the rest of my body ascending...just my feet. Good advert for Reebok but did absolutely nothing to prove I was there. :rotfl:
