Ample Hills Creamery - How is it?

It's freakin' awesome! We went there on opening day (no crowds at all) and the staff was super friendly and excited to showcase their stuff. We had the ooey gooey butter cake sundae with malty salty pretzel ice cream and milk and cookies ice cream. I still dream of it.

staying at the boardwalk for 4 nights. in december. this will happen.

Doesn't Beaches and Cream serve Edy's? Nothing special there, imo. Ample Hills or nothing!

Have you thought about going over during your Epcot or DHS visit? We plan to take a mid-day break while at DHS and get some. We might do Beaches & Cream to go instead, since we haven't been to either, but I am leaning toward Ample Hills.

If you're gonna get Beaches & Cream to go, I'd say skip it and do Ample Hills. The to-go menu at B&C is limited. Outside the Mickey Pants sundae (which I believe you can find at MK) it's nothing special. Ample Hills is unreal. We have it up in NYC and the cones alone are worth the trip!

There is one in NYC? I'm going to have to find it next time I'm in the city. A lot closer to NJ than Orlando

We went twice during our trip...and we were staying at the BC and left the pool both times to walk over and get it I have seen lots of folks ask if it is worth it. Price wise, with the quantity you get, it really is not really much more expensive than B&C. And the quality is far better.

  • Nonna D's Oatmeal Lace

My SIL had that. It tasted a lot like cinnamon oatmeal cookies.

The lemon ginger one is dairy free.

I had the chocolate peanut butter one that was delicious and the mint one was also great it you like peppermint patties.

Oh no - can anyone confirm if this happens often? Perhaps this person went right when they first opened? I would be SO upset if I made a special trip out there for plain ol' vanilla ice cream!

When we were there one night they had all favors and two nights later they were missing several popular ones. I think they just hadn't anticipated the demand. I think it will take a while to get the demand sorted out, so you may encounter this for the next while.

The "small" is pretty big! Like two huge scoops. Did not stop me from two visits :)

One of the cast members there told us we could do as many as they could fit in the cup...we didn't because I wanted the flavors to blend. They basically fill the cup however you want it. And they volunteered that info to us. They also were very quick to give samples, which we took advantage of until the line started to build.

I had an ooey gooey sundae, with the ooey gooey base, ooey gooey ice cream and caramel sauce. It was delicious! I had it as my lunch one day while staying at BWI.

I like the place, I like their decor, it's super cute too. But, I think I got my fill of it last time we went. I don't think I'll be going back any time soon.
I sampled several flavors, the lemon, strawberry, oatmeal... I had their peppermint the first time, I liked it.
I got their signature flavor last time, orange and chocolate, and I couldn't finish it. It was good, but I got tired of eating it.

My husband got a milkshake and he didn't like it, it was already melted and liquidy, he said it tasted ok, but the consistency was horrible.

This is the #1 thing I have to do on my October trip! We will be making a trip to the Boardwalk just to try Ample Hills!

We haven't tried it in Disney yet, but stopped by the one under the Brooklyn Bridge today in NY and it was great. I had the sweet cream and cookies and it was so good. My DH and DS had The Munchies and loved it, too.

Slim pickings for gluten free - seems like 3/4 of the flavors have cookies/cake in them. If I'm limited to plain chocolate or vanilla ice cream, we may stick with B&C since we'll be staying at BCV.

Has anyone else with celiac/other allergies been?

Went there yesterday (7/23) afternoon about 3:30 pm. I'm a vanilla/chocolate kind of ice cream lover so I went with the dark chocolate with a salted caramel topping. Very good!

We had ice cream from Ample Hills everyday 7/13-7/21. We loved it! Tried just about every flavor. My favorites were PB Wins and Lemon which was very refreshing in the hot afternoon sun by the pool.

My oldest dd is strictly a chocolate person but when she tried the vanilla she said it was the best vanilla she's ever had.

My absolute favorite thing I consumed my whole trip! I had a shake made out of the dark chocolate ice cream. It was SO GOOD! We all loved what we got so much that we went back again. DS highly recommends the baked/unbaked.

It was so good I had some shipped to us from NY to SC!! We loved it. I had the seashells but samples both the oatmeal lace and the oooey gooey cake. My husband had the sundae and as we were having that for lunch asked for it to be loaded up and it sure was!! By far the friendliest workers we encountered on that trip too!! Don't miss it
