When Old Key West opened, what was the cost per point at that time? I was just looking and it appears that SSR is at $104 per point. I know there are discounts offered, and I am not sure what the point cost is at AKV. When we bought SSR we got $10 off each point, so I believe we paid $79 per point (not sure, the wife did all the work) :)

Just wondering

Keep in mind the data Diane has reposted is not 100% correct. This is the same data that has been floating around for years, and was a best attempt, but there are errors.

One personally known error: We purchased in June 1993 at $57.50/point. That price change was effective June 1st, not July 1st. Also, the minimum at that time was 190 points (we bought 200). So the 190 minimum began June 1st 1993 also, not Jan 1994.

Wow - So the points have increased a lot in the 15 or so years of DVC. I know DVC is not an investment, but depending on the time you purchased, and with the rate increases that happen at all the resorts, if you are a regular at WDW, DVC seems reasonable to me.

Not really - its a 17 year time period - works out to a 4.65% increase year over year. Considering what building and housing costs have been doing over that period - its actually quite reasonable.

Which isn't to say DVC doesn't make sense for people who go to WDW regularly, just as an investment a 4.65% increase over 17 years isn't great - and an OKW owner isn't going to sell at $104 anyway. An OKW owner who bought presale and is selling today - after commissions - would get about a 2.24% return. Course had they been paying for rooms for the past 17 years, they wouldn't get any return on their money at all and it would all be gone in a puff of smoke and memories.
