I remember reading somewhere that there are discounts available with Amex cards. Anyone benefitted from these? DH has just got one and I wouldn't want to waste it!!

Amex / Disneys "White Glove Treatment" unfortunately finished at the beginning if this year.

It was good while it lasted.

We have used ours the past 2 years and never had a discount of any kind - it's only for American Amex cards we were told!!

So glad we got the use of them when we did then. We certainly never had any hassle with using our UK American express card!

I took out an American Express card for our November 2001 holiday.

I distinctly remember getting 10% off our Illuminations Cruise.....and about the same at Mythos restaurant in IOA. In both cases I didn't ask ( cos I didn't know you got discounts!! ).

It was the (then) new Blue Amex card....don't know if that made any difference, but certainly it was new to a lot of US shop assistants.

American Express's white glove treatment was even better than the discounts given by the disney club.

As long as you were staying on site - you were given freebies on check-in (bum bags, annual pass lanyards etc) and in many downtown disney shops you got 15% disc instead of 10%.

You were also given a lot of 10% disc on many items such as meals, tours etc.

There was a few other nice bits, but thats all finished now. :(

We used our (UK issued) Amex card to get discount on a backstage tour at Animal Kingdom. I think it was 15 or perhaps even 20% discount. Now that Amex is no longer the official credit card partner for WDW is suppose this discount is no longer available.

I bet the account manager at AMEX who lost that account is gutted. We used ours lots last year and got discounts as well as the white glove treatment we got at the resort.

You can still get 15% disount off tours etc with an Annual Pass and also discount off some lunches around the world. ALso got discount with the AP at World of Disney that did help to make a huge saving.

I'll miss the Disney Club Discount but mainly for the discount on my AP - but then the price it would have cost me to renew up until the end of the year, when it finally ends, is the saving I'd make on purchasing my AP with the discount - if you get my drift - so I'm not going to bother.

Disney must have spent an absolute fortune on changing all the wallets that the bills come in at the restaurants as ALL have been changed to say VISA the preferred card.

Can't wait for the Disney VISA Credit Card to be available over here - more so for the chance to get extra discounts than anything else
