Does anyone know if you get a discount on food or gifts inside universal or IOA with an American express card? Has anyone been in the AmEx lounge at Universal?

I have not heard about discounts for amex card holders at the restaurants and shops. Maybe there is one but I have never heard of it. What questions do you have about the lounge?

My guess would be no...unless the AMEX card is still the official card of Universal Orlando which I don't think it is. I haven't looked at a map recently so I'm not sure what the official card is.

I was just wondering if its worth trying to find. I read somewhere it was basically chips and water offered. Just curious if anyone who's been could verify.

amex is still the official card of Universal. The lounge offers granola bars, potato chips and bottled water. Also a place to wait outside of the heat or relax for a moment.

Official Card of Universal Orlando® Resort

American Express is the official payment of choice at Universal Orlando. With any American Express Card you can enjoy special theme park savings and offers.

The rules say that you need to buy your tickets with Amex at universalorlando.com in order to be eligible. With a 17$ difference to undercovertourist per 3-days park-to-park ticket I wonder if this is a good deal.

In addition the undercovertourist tickets are refundable.

Are there any perks other than the lounge for Amex card holders? I have a golden Amex.

OK cool...I wasn't sure. I was at the Studios yesterday and didn't even look at a map.

The discount using Undercover tourist far outweighs a visit to The AX lounge.I do know of people that visited the lounge just showing their AX card.

They have vacation packages for AX holders - other than that I am not aware of any other perks.

all i know about that card is the benefit of a 4:00 check out if you book a package with them.

a couple years back, keishashadow was in a private rip tour with me and almost didn't make it into the park.

the room she had at pbh was not even close to ready.
the peeps in that room had the 4:00 check out.......

keishashadow wanted to get organized and stuff in her room before heading to the parks.
she arrived that afternoon from the airport, wanted to get into her room and change into her CSW shirt and be in the parks until 2:00 am.

so, the amex package could be a nice deal for those wanting a very late check out, but a very bad thing for those needing to get into the room they were assigned.

The difference in ticket costs through the mousesaver link to undercover tourist would be $25. I think I'd rather have the savings, but with 4-6 people, it might pay for itself in water over a two day trip!

for $25 I'd put it in my pocket and use it for drinks in the park.

I look at it this way: Yes- you do get free water, but you also have to walk yourself all the way back there to get it. So if you are in potter and you want something to drink, you'll have to walk all the way to another park to get some free bottled water and a bag of chips. You might as well just walk back to your car and get what ever you want. :drive:

No thanks! I'll spend the $25 on one of those $8 coke bottles with $1 refills - that way I can have a drink where ever I am.

However when I buy my next AP I will buy with an amex so I could go into the lounge when I am in the area - it is a nice perk.
