America's Mood Map

Second time I did it after a little more thought I belong in Wyoming.
I’ll stick with Arkansas. Wyoming is beautiful but I need a more urban area and I don’t think I could take the winters.

Lived in Michigan, Arizona, and Ohio.

Says I should live in North Carolina. Ehh ... I was hoping for Hawaii. :beach:

I can tell you without taking the test, I belong in Hawaii. 😉

Unfortunately, Hawaii doesn't seem to be an option on the test! I got New Mexico. Not too bad I guess, at least it doesn't snow there. But I'm not a huge fan of the whole desert thing either.

I think I'll stick with CA.

Born and raised in NJ with a second home in Florida.

I got Washington, DC? 🤣

I grew up in NC. We spent a couple years in VA. FL has been our home for 23 years.

I got Oregon. I'll pass.

I knew from a young age that Florida was where I was meant to be. I hope I never have to leave the state full time. Lord willing, we do plan to spend summers in NC, after DH retires.

I still played even though I live in Canada.

I got Tennessee. Never been and honestly beside Nashville and the Smokey Mountains. I don’t know anything about it.

I got Oregon. I'll pass.

Ditto, but I like Oregon. I was born in PA, moved to MN, and now live in Washington. Oregon and Washington are similar. They both have an independent libertarian streak where many people openly mock societies norms.

For that reason, I guess Oregon makes sense for me. Maybe, they know something I don't. :p When it comes down to it, I'm all about warm weather year round & the ocean, which makes Florida the place for me.

Which of society’s norms do people from Washington and Oregon mock? Just trying to get a sense of what you mean.

I can't take the humidity in Florida. Southern Oregon has great weather. It is cool in the Winter and hot in the Summer. Humidity is low all year long. Plus none of those busybodies that you get elsewhere that stick their nose into everyone's business. We were checking out retiring in Jacksonville Oregon. It isn't cheap though as many of the retirees are coming from California, Portland, and Seattle.

Sexual orientation. Most people out here don't care what consenting adults do behind closed doors. None of their business which way you swing.

Pot smoking. It is none of the government's business.

Assisted suicide is legal out here. If you are stage 4 cancer it is none of the government's business how you chose to end your life.

Political parties out here have far less power than elsewhere in the country. Most here realize the the root of problem in Washington DC is not the liberals or conservatives but the democrat and republican party bosses. The less power the party bosses have the better. All of the primaries are open out here to any voter. You don't have to declare an affiliation to any political party.

Dress. You can go to the opera, church, or fancy restaurants and see people in shorts and t-shirts. You don't get treated differently when you dress casual.

Humidity doesn't really bother me. If it's cooler than 70, it's too cold for me. I've lived in the Tampa area for 17 years & now live in South Florida. A few of the retirees have nothing else to do, but monitor the neighborhood, but most people mind their own business. The large majority of residents just laugh at the people with the clip boards. At most, they keep the neighborhood looking decent, but I've seen people on here post about more difficult HOAs in other parts of the country. My experience with Florida is it's a really a laid-back state in most ways. It's not perfect, but we can't have everything.
