Americans and Canadians culture Q&A Thread.

And to further confuse things, they also use the term "Intermediate" school for grade 7 and 8. I want to school that had Intermediate in the name for 7th and 8th grade. That school has been closed, but now that district uses "Middle School" for the schools with 7th and 8th grade.
I had Junior High School (7-8), Intermediate High School (9-10), and Senior High School (11-12). Because I moved between 2nd and 3rd grade, and the elementary school I went to only went to 4th grade, then 3 schools combined in one for 5th and 6th (2 schools joined the 3rd which was K-6 at that one) Then I got an Associates degree so only 2 years of college, I had never in my life gone to an individual school more than 2 years.

You should amend that to say your interaction with Canadian family members because they seem to live a very different life than most Canadians.
Funny, THAT is what they say about the posts I send them from the DIS.

Ok, so, what is the best American fast food(ish) joint? My family takes a road trip yearly from Ontario to Florida and it is a tradition to stop at American only chains. As ridiculous as it sounds, this is a serious debate in my house and we PLAN it. I have teen boys though so...LMAO Any recommendations? We've had strong reactions to Cracker Barrell( I hate it, they love it) and Krystal (does anyone find this edible? WTH?)

Cracker Barrell is in Canada.

It is? Oh man, may my children never know this! Are you sure? I've never seen one on this side of the border. ETA: I googled and it seems to still be a no. We do have Cracker Barrell cheese but that is another company altogether.
Look at the list I linked, Canadian cities are listed.

And the rumour [sp] that the new polymer bank notes were made to intentionally smell like maple syrup. When I was in Canada in 2015 and experienced the polymer notes for the first time I never heard of the claim but my first thought was that they smelled like maple syrup.

I was standing at the counter making a purchase at the last campsite in Canada when my daughter texts me asking if the money smells like maple syrup. I stated no way I'm smelling a monetary bill which netted the reply "Bring one home, Imma sniff it." I was laughing when the college age looking young lady said something so I asked. "The $10 bill is suppose to I've heard..." as she pulls a $10 out of my change. "Yeah, it does!" Well, she did it so I took it and yup, it sure smelled like maple syrup to me.

I think another cultural difference is the big high school/college football culture in the USA that is absent up north.

It's absent in some of the US, too. That was part of the culture shock of going to college in the south for me.

Waffle House isn't the best food, but it's kind of a must do at some point. Though it's really best at 2am after a night of drinking (when it is the best food ever).

The list doesn’t have a single Cracker Barrel on it - just links to towns and cities in each of those provinces to whatever restaurants happen to be located there.
The closest Cracker Barrel to me according to the Cracker Barrel’s own website is in Williamsville NY (near Buffalo)

Around our parts IHOP was the place. One of my ex boyfriends though his group of friends their spot was Denny's which personally I didn't like as much as IHOP. I seldom go to Waffle House but it's around here.

For more variety I prefer First Watch for breakfast although they are a brunch place only open til 2 or 3pm so not the same category as Waffle House, IHOP or Denny's in that respect.
