If I were to book through the Canadian website with the discount offered to Canadians would Disney request proof of residency at check in? I can fill in my address (U.S.) in the check out without any problems.

My guess would be yes, just as you would have to show your AP if you were to book a room with an annual pass discount.

canadian discount? when we booked about 5 weeks ago i didn't hear or see anything about that, we were given free dining for next year before the states however

We also have room discounts available for the end of this year that is specifically directed to Canadians.

Search the boards. There were a couple of threads that people reported being asked to show proof of residency. They do the same thing for the Florida resident rates.

I'm booked and have received a confirmation e-mail. I don't see how they can request proof of residency when I've clearly booked with a U.S. address and it says nothing about having to be Canadian to get the special offer. As far as I'm concerned, the worst thing they can do is make us pay the difference when we get there and we won't be any worse off than we are now, but I don't think that will happen...we'll see!

OP: Anyone can book a room with an AP rate, even if they don't have one. When you check in, you are required to show proof of an AP to get that rate. I have a very strong feeling you are going to experience the same thing.

Congratulations on lying to Disney!

Here is what a CM had to say:

"you: For a Canadian Discount do you have to show proof of residency?
Bart: Hello and thank you for choosing the Walt Disney World® resort as your vacation destination.
Bart: Yes you do."

So all you are doing is taking up availability from true Canadian who want to use their discount.

I often book the AP rate. I have held an AP for years. Rarely, have I been asked for it at check-in.

If they ask you for proof of residence and you end up having to pay rack rate, you might've missed out on another (legit for you) discount that you could've booked under in the meantime. I wouldn't do it personally. I'd rather hold out for another discount, even if it was lower, than to hope I didn't get caught at the time of check in.:confused3

If I wasn't a Canadian and I booked this discount, I sure would be dreading from now until the time I checked in...not much fun planning a trip while trying to beat the system.......
