This doesn't surprise me for AA. Several years ago we were enroute to LAX. Our connection in Chicago was cancelled and they put us on another flight which was the other side of the airport! I was with my mother (needed transport) and my 3 yr old. They did not transfer our seats. By the time we got to the new gate they had put all 3 of us separately INCLUDING MY 3 YEAR OLD! The airline did nothing to help us as a matter of fact they were quite rude. Thank god for the nice people on the plane who helped and changed seats so we could be with my son.
Then when we arrived in LAX we found out that AA had not indicated that the people on the cancelled flight had now been put on this other flight. Needless to say, the people who were meeting people from our flight were very upset. The airline would tell them nothing only that our flight was cancelled. Just a great flight!
