American Products Being Boycotted

Sometimes you guys are so funny. You certainly can dish it out but you really have a hard time taking it.:p

I haven't seen a single post on this thread that would indicate that anyone is having a hard time "taking it". Let 'em boycott - who really cares?

Hopefully the will boycott any foreign aid the US is giving them also.

I wasn't just talking about this thread and I wasn't just talking about boycotting from France, just about the general attitude that is being portrayed when anyone or any country has a difference of opinion.

I suppose it may be difficult for an outsider to truely understand what it is and feels like to be an American. But if you watch the TV you'll see that not all Americans agree on everything. I'm sure there are even some Americans who are currently only purchasing goods AT Pier 1 Imports.

I wish them all the luck in the world. If I were a German I wouldn't be so quick to eat that pretzel since it's most likely made with at least some American wheat and I hope none of these boycotters are getting news and information from the internet via Internet Explorer (owned by Microsoft). In the global society we live in it's virtually impossible to identify the origin of every component of a product.

By the way, I guess France has dealings with Iraqi for purely humanitarian reasons it couldn't be about money. If the reason for this boycott weren't so serious this would be down right hysterical

AllyandJack ~ I got rid of my Lancome. I just couldn't stand to use it anymore.
I agree boycotting countries at EPCOT effects Disney and not those countries, but I just have to admit, that I would find it very difficult to visit those countries that are not supporting our troops and our mission. (But continue to accept aid from the USA)!!

I was THRILLED to find out that this moisturizer I can't live without is Made in the USA. I think you're going to see a lot more companies put that on their products. They have an office in Paris....but, they also have one in London. However, the actual product was made in the USA. Thank goodness.....my face would be cracking off in support of my country.

Here is a recent article on the boycott of US products overseas. See http://www.adage.com/news.cms?newsId=37485
CAIRO, Egypt (AdAge.com) -- Marketers of some of the world's biggest brands -- including Procter & Gamble Co., Pepsi-Cola Co., Coca-Cola Co., H.J. Heinz Co., Xerox and McDonald's Corp. -- are going on the offensive to combat war-related boycotts of American products in hot spots around the globe. ...

Sensitivity is, of course, particularly high in the Middle East. Mostafa El Halwagy, a board member of Heinz Egypt, said fliers have been circulated in Egypt, Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Morocco and Algeria, urging a boycott of a long list of U.S. companies. He said Heinz has not yet felt the impact, but that "we have seen our name and other familiar names on the leaflets." ....

In Argentina, anti-war demonstrators blocked the entrances of a number of McDonald's stores during March 26 protests. They laid down in front of the restaurants to symbolize casualties and waved signs with such statements as "Here they sell 'Happy Meals' to finance the war." ...

Egyptian consumers are drawing up their own lists of brands to boycott. Reda Hassanein, a 40-year-old Cairo accountant, said she had decided to boycott Pizza Hut, KFC, Marlboro, Pepsi and Coke. "This boycott is necessary because Americans are killing our Iraqi brothers,"

Oh geesh.

What goes around, comes around I guess?

Not to be rude, but where was the protest of all things Muslim when they used our citizens as human missles to kill another group of our citizens? I don't understand how WE became the bad guy and terrorists are the victims.

You know what...I don't care. If the world wants to take the side of evil dictators and terrorists then they can have at them and boycott our products while doing it. They can all fend for themselves when they need money or military help, they can provide asylum for their own people and they can stay on their side of the world blowing each other up and being heroes to the rest of the ignorant world. Maybe Saddam doesn't have it all wrong...I mean, he murders and rapes his people, they can't say "boo" without him approving it, yet they all stand behind him. We live in a free country with a leader who doesn't rape and murder us and yet people take the side of the murderer rapist. I say, go on over there to Iraq. But, while you're there, don't use any of the products of the horrible nation who, oh my God, decided to defend and protect ITSELF instead of wasting their time defending the rest of the world that turned out to be a bunch of ungrateful fools.
