If you haven't seen tonight's episode yet, stop now and don't read further.

I've about had it with this show. Only 1 winner in 9 seasons. Year after year, they continue to make the course harder and in some ways nearly impossible despite the fact that nobody is winning or even attempting the final stage.

Not to mention the countless backstories that they seem determined to show. Tonight, in the finale, they failed to show nearly 20 runs despite allocating time for backstories of the people they did show.

I don't get it NBC! I'm out.

I watched this season but it really dragged on and I hate the stories! Everyone has something, right down to "my dog died"-its like American got talent, one sob story after another.

Some of those stories aren't even real, they are staged for drama.

I don't mind that the course gets harder, or that people aren't even making it to the final stage most seasons, but I HATE the stories with a vivid passion!!!!! I fast forward through all of them, which shows how little of the competition they actually show each night. I really hope they dial it back for future seasons, but I doubt they will.

I think they're going to face some backlash for the shenanigans tonight. They only showed half the runs in the SEASON FINALE!!!!!!!!!! What the hell are they thinking about?

I'm with you. They are making the courses SO exponentially harder each year that it's no longer fun to watch.

I was scratching my head during the segment about the couple (too early to remember names) putting their dog down.

That's sad - been there - but what does that have to do with this show? I guess it was their "motivation" but I still found it odd and out of place.

Stopped watching last year. Just got boring watching everyone doing the same thing over and over. Either you make or you don't. not a whole lot of entertainment value

Sadly, that's what I find wrong with almost all those "reality/competition" shows. Drama sells (for the most part). I prefer a show that just shows what it's supposed to. If it's a race, show the racing, if it's an ice skating competition, just show the routines. I'm not really that interested in "where they came from" segments.

For those people who want that information, it's out there, but, please, don't include it in the show.

Didn't watch the episode last night yet (don't worry, not worried about spoilers ;) ). I usually only watch them a day or two later, because I have to fast forward all the backstories - that way, I can watch a 2 hour episode in about 27 minutes. :p

ITA - I would rather watch the runs - keep the stories. Who cares!!!

I liked the Japanese show. American Ninja Warrior not so much.

I hate the announcers and their fake manly man shouts... AMERICAN NINGA WARRIOR!!! Sounds like an advertisement for a monster truck show.

The whole show has become a total phony parody of the Japanese one.

I bet you when people are standing in line for audition, for some of these shows, they look for people with a sob story and if you don't have one, they'll make one for you.

Has your dog ever died?
Yes but he was old. no biggie.
WRONG SIR. you were broken up about it. That's your story and you're sticking to it. And if you win, you need to break down in tears and say this one's for fido.

I don't mind them making the course harder. It just makes it that much sweeter when an athlete figures out how do it. And they HAVE done it. Look at how much the athletes have grown! Remember when making it up the wall was supposed to be a big thing? It's amazing to see how far these athletes have stretched. I don't really care if there's a winner--a rope climb is a bit of an anti-climatic finish anyways.

I'm TOTALLY with you on the stories, though. I refuse to watch live. We always record or watch on Hulu so we can fast-forward through the jibber-jabber.
