I just got home (yes, at 12:30AM) from the American Idol concert in Philadelphia. All I can say is, WOW!!! It was a great show! If the tour is stopping in an area near you, I highly reccomend going to it. Everybody looked and sounded great, and it was great to finally see my favorite Clay Aiken in person. TV definately doesn't do him justice. :) At one point, a fan threw a dollar bill up on stage at Clay with a note attached, saying "Here's a dollar for the Grease hip shake." Clay's face turend about 100 shades of red, but he finally did do it. The women in the audience definately enjoyed that! :)

We had great seats, on the floor, about halfway back. We were in section 5, row 9, for anyone familiar with the First Union Center. I couldn't ask for better seats, center of the floor, center row! I just wish the people in front of me wouldn't have kept holding their signs up during the show and blocking my view. :(

The thing that surprised me the most about the show was the fan support (or lack thereof) for Ruben. I don't know if it's just a regional thing, or if this is reflective of the entire country, but Clay was hands down the most popular one of the group tonight. There were people in the crowd actually booing Ruben. At first, I thought it was just people chanting "Ruuuuuuuben," but they were actual boo's, and they kept up the entire night. Not a person was in his/her seat during Clay's performances.

I have a role of film that I need to develop, and I can't wait to get them back! My digital camera doesn't have a zoom that far, so none of those pictures turned out. :(

Now, it's off to bed! I'm already planning to go to next year's AI concert. :)

Was Josh part of it? I couldn't remember if he was or not. And, read my sig re booing in Philly, did you really expect any less? :teeth: :teeth:

Do ya know if they're gonna have the concert on FOX like they did last year?

We are going tonight to the concert at the MCI Center in D.C.
Are all of the finalists in the show?

Josh is still on active military duty, so he wasn't at the show. Corey and Vanessa were absent from the show also, but the other 9 finalists were there, and I have to say that all of them sound better in person than they do on TV (if that's possible :) ). You'll enjoy the show, laurenk!

I Love American Idol and especially Clay and they will be in Orlando while we are there and I want to go but my family thinks I'm crazy because I would be picking Clay over Disney. What should I do? Was the show worth missing a day at Disney? The closest show to our home is 4 hours away.

My best friend got us tickets to go see it when it comes to Atlanta. And better yet, it's coming on my birthday (Aug. 9). I'm so excited, especially to see Clay!!! :bounce: :bounce:

Nope - it's a North Amercian - entire continent thing...

It was a great show...I saw it here in Toronto on last Tuesday...sorry but Clay kicked Ruben's you know what, if Canada was able to vote on American Idol - Ruben SO would have lost. The crowd went absolutely NUTS for Clay and no where near the same response for Ruben. They both sang their new songs, and once again Clay's was better then Ruben's...now I'm not just saying this 'cause I like Clay (honestly) it's just that some 'Luther Vandross/Barry White' cover guy singing a rap song - just doesn't 'work' for me...yes rap, complete with shouts of '205' in the background of the song - it was absolutely dreadful...would love to hear Simon tell Ruben how "he can do no wrong" after he's heard THAT song...

Just for fun - go to ebay - type in 'Ruben Studdard' and see how many items come up...then type in 'Clay Aiken'....hummm...interesting isn't it?!? Simon was right when he said on the last show "The real compitition will start when your albums are released on the same day"....Clay is outselling Ruben more then 2 to 1, title or no title - it's pretty safe to say who the favourite is...

I'll be going to the Providence show, I just got tickets!! And yep, Clay is by far outshining Ruben at every show! I frequent a couple of Clay message boards, and that is what everyone is saying. I heard what a smash he is in Canada, too. Do you know that Ruben's single went platinum in Canada, but Clay's went platinum 6 times!! And, of course, Clay went platinum here, and Ruben made it to gold. So, who's the true American Idol? Hmmm..........

I agree with you, madonna31, Ruben's new single does sound more like a rap song than anything else. It's funny, I was thinking the same thing last night when he was singing it, "I wonder what Simon would say about this?!?!" Clay's new single, "Invisible," really blew Ruben out of the water.

I only saw one (yes, one!) Ruben sign in the crowd, and the rest were Clay or Kim L. signs. I'm still in a state of shock that Ruben won the competition, considering that 99% of the crowd was with Clay last night.

Oh! The best part of the show last night? Clay's version of "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" from the Lion King. Elton John has strong competition from Clay!

And, yes, I would pick AI/Clay over a day in WDW hands down. :)

Philadelphia fans will boo anyone. We booed Santa Claus one year.

We were at Saturday night's show in Worcester, MA. It was the only stop with two shows and they were both sold out. It was really good. Everyone was so relaxed and seemed to be having fun which made their performances so much better than on TV. I was pleasantly surprised by Julia and Charles. They didn't do much for me during the show but they sounded great. I still think Kimberley Locke has the best voice.

I think I'm getting too old for these things though. We were near the front so between the speakers and the SCREAMING girls (mine included) , it will take a couple of days for my ears to get back to normal. Lots of fun and it made me so happy to see my girls so excited, well worth the wait.

kasar, I was hoping to go to the Sat. night Worcester show, it was a spur of the moment thing so I asked my best friend to go with me. I was seeing good tickets on Ticketmaster on Friday morning, so I called my friend, but she had another commitment that night, so we thought we'd try the Providence show, but there were no tickets! I just kept checking Ticketmaster though, and this morning there were some available, not the best, but I didn't want to chance it. I'm going to keep checking back, though, I hear they sometimes release really good seats the day before or of the concert.

Glad everyone had a good time!!!!:D

I went to the Hartford, CT concert and it was soooo good. I loved Clay's new single. The crowd really loved him, but the cheers seemed about the same for both Ruben and CLay. Maybe a little louder for Clay.

They all did a great job, better than on TV. I really liked the duet with Julia and Ricky.

Clay's song Invisible was really catchy and upbeat, not a ballad like he usually sings. I will definately buy his CD. Didnt really care for Rubens new song, though.

Our seats werent good at all, way up high and off to the side so we couldnt even see the screens, but we had binoculars so at least that helped.

I wish I could go again!!

The Philly show was sold out also, and the sound definately reflected that. The screams for Clay and Kim L were so loud at times that you couldn't even hear them singing/speaking. It was definately worth it - it was a great show! :)

I bought my 9-year old daughter the Clay CD with two songs(Bridge over Troubled Water, This is the Night). Is there another Clay CD out there with more songs on it? We both love Clay!!

FloraFauna - not yet...soon my friend - VERY soon!!!

We just got back, and it was GREAT!!! The crowds went nuts for Rueben, Clay, Kimberly, and Trenece. Rueben's mother was there. Does she go to all of the shows?

Everyone sounded much better live then on TV. The only one we didn't really enjoy was Kimberly Caldwell.

FloraFauna, his new full-length CD should be coming out in Sept., but he also made 2 demos a few years ago, there are several songs on each. They were selling them for charity, but after he was on AI, they sold out quickly, however you can download a lot of the songs and burn a cd for yourself. I have the demos, and he sounds great on those, too!! It is covers of songs from Elton John, Jim Brickman, even some oldies as well. I guess his Mom gave him the money to do it for his HS graduation.

pajamommy, where can you download the music from? I saw one of the demo tapes on eBay, and the prices were crazy. He has Unchained Melody on it, and I would love to have a copy of that song!

As a side note, does anyone know what songs will be on Clay's and Ruben's CD's?
