American Idol - Week 1 of Finals Thread

I'm thinking that one giant thread for the whole American Idol competition would get very long and cumbersome. Perhaps a new thread for each week of competition started after the contestants perform would work well and be more manageable.

So here it is.....

My take on last night

Ace is just too pretty - I like him
Chris is just an amazing performer
Katharine is beautiful and extremely talented
What was with the Barbie hair on Bucky?
Kevin has got to go

As an aside, I'm am sooooooooooo bummed that Will Makar didn't make to the finals. I don't think he would have won but I certainly think he should have made it to the finals - I tried my darndest to get him there. I thought he was adorable and pretty talented. Not to mention, he is from my neck of the woods.

I agree with simon--last half much better than the first half.

Though I must say I was not happy with Stevie Wonder night--he's a great artist...but for amateurs trying to win a contest, not much wow factor. Maybe the contestants were playing it safe, I don't know.

Of course I am not well versed in the Stevie Wondor song selections.

Although I was never a big fan of Taylor Hicks, he's finally won me over. You can only ignore that talent for so long. I think Chris has already gotten his big break, some musical offer according to a rumor I heard. The fact that Kevin is still there is appalling!

Since the competition is down to the final twelve, AI is only on two nights a week. Tuesday is the singing and Wednesday is a half hour show with the voting results.

I disagree. One of the things that drives me nuts on the DIS is the fact that many threads exist on the same subject. Do we really need 10 threads on Crocs? Same here. We already have an AI thread, why would we want to put out a different thread for each week?

On other forums I frequent, the mods actually consolidate duplicate/triplicate threads. I wish there was a bit more of that here. JMO.

Add me to the Chris Rockers group...even though I have never been too much a fan of harder rock, this guy is sooo talented. He seems really easy going and laid back too...good attitude.

The bottom three tonight was just ridiculous (IMHO of course!) I was ready to boycott the rest of the season had Ace been sent home! I liked Melissa too!

Kevin has got to go! And Kellie. And Bucky. That would have been my bottom 3.

I really like Taylor too, but I had to laugh at Simon's comment about him sounding like "a drunk dad singing at a wedding"

I live in the same town as Kevin. My 9th grade DD said everyone in school is voting for him, which is about 3 or 4 high schools.

I like Katherine, Chris & Taylor.
