American Idol Top 20 Season 9

Good night everyone, see you tomorrow to see who stays and which one goes bye bye

Tonight wasn't as bad as I expected. I don't know why they picked a group like the Rolling Stones. I love their music but think a large part of their succes is the band, not just the vocals. It would be hard for anyone to sound as good with the AI back-up band.

I think Crystal Bowersox was the best of the night.

Casey James and Lee Dewyze were both good. I liked them better than the judges like them.

Siobhan Magnus started out pretty good but that last note was horrible. I agree with others who said it was really a scream, not a note. She doesn't need to do that.

Didi Benami sounded pretty good too. She is definitely improving and I hope she stays around.

I didn't like any of the others and don't care who goes home from among them. I wouldn't mind seeing Andrew Garcia, Lacey Brown or Paige Miles being voted off tomorrow.

Kris Allen twittered that he wrote a song today with Kate Voegele, kinda of excited to hear that.

Well, another lackluster evening. The best thing about last night was that the kids had a band concert so we TIVO'd Idol and watched 2 hours in about 35 minutes being able to fast forward through some very scary moments on the Idol stage and ALL the commercials :lmao:.

The Dial Idol results are very interesting. It really is telling that NO ONE is in the green zone and only ONE performer had enough votes to even register results.

Tim and Lacey just need too.....................count their blessing they got this far and politley step aside. Simon is going to internally combust if he keeps being so platonically "nice", lol...Kara, pick a new phrase other than "I agree with the guys", and how sad is it that I am remembering the judges more than the contestants? Loved Crystal, she is just on such a higher level than all the other contestants is a bunch of aspects...weird, like she is truly the Den Mother. I wish she could just get her contract and blow that pop stand.Hopefully (while I liked Lily, the "tribute" does not hurt her vote wise)
Soibhan...hmmm , while I did like it better than when our hometown fave Gina Glocksen did it ( that was Gina's kiss of death night) not sure, I think it sounded better than it really was simply because of the comparing it ot the other renditions of the night, and the theatrics.
Casey is sounding the same week after week...so I guess we know his limitations and the same for Paige and Didi...seriously, her way of dividing single syllables into double is getting annoying, Ellen tried to politely point that out..hope Didi took note as she does have an individual style.
Lee, Aaron, Big Mike...all in the middle for me, the young girl, "wild Horses", passable, but really, a little stage presence, a little personality that isn't "paper doll" would be nice. Can't even remember the rest if there were any...O agree an underwhelming night, best part was Ellen and Aaron's hair!

I was not happy when they announced Ellen would become a judge on the show, and have not really liked her at all...until...last night. She won me over with her laugh-out-loud comments to Casey. OMG, I couldn't stop laughing. Loved it. She is really working out well as a judge. :thumbsup2

I had not been a fan of Paige's until last night, I thought she sang her song extremely well, especially for having laryngitis.

Loved Casey, Siobahn, Lee, Aaron (he's just such a cutie!) and of course Crystal.

I would be happy with either Katie or Tim going home tonight.

Can't wait to see/hear David Cook!!!

I say that Katie or Tim need to go. Even though I like to look at Tim I don't think he will make it very far. As for Katie I just do not see her growing as an artist.

My fav of the evening was Siobhan. Overlooking that screech at the end, I liked her and would love to hear her sing with Adam Lambert.

Crystal quickly follows as my next fav. I hope Simon's comment about her being too confident about having this one in the bag doesn't hurt her. She tried to deny it but I'm not sure how many heard it.

I liked Tim's quirky rendition. I know that I'm in the minority and don't think that he will go too far unless it's for his looks, but I did like it.

All the others sort of merge altogether except for Katie. She needs to go. I like her voice but it is "old" sounding and needs to grow into it IMO.

..Kara, pick a new phrase other than "I agree with the guys",

why does she say that? does Ellen want to be referred to as a guy? :confused3

anyway, I liked Crystal, Aaron, and Lee.
and Siobhan too

Too funny, because I actually don't think Ellen would mind being called a guy, she sure dresses like one. She definitely has a masculine side to her, BUT that aside, I think Kara means "guys" in the generic term of "hi guys". Where I am from "guys" is a term that is the same as "Y'all" in the south. It encompases everyone. Eventhough it has a legitimate meaning with the male sex, I think she uses the generic form.

OF course EVERYTHING that woman says is annoying. OH how I miss crazy Paula. The judges really stink this year! I don't think Randy and Ellen can give any real criticism and Kara can't give any criticism that has any value and isn't confusing. Simon has checked out in my opinion. He is the king of Cold attitudes when saying horrid things to those contestants and then knocks Crystal because she doesn't wear her heart on her sleeve in front of millions of people. She is very guarded and it is so funny because if you go back and look at Adam Lambert, he never said anything to the judges. Just smiled, never showed his personality other than in his performing and dressing. I always found his attitude so standoffish and if anyone had thought they had a season wrapped up, it was Adam. (not saying he didn't deserve to be the front runner) But it is iritating putting on Crystal that because she is guarded she thinks she has gotten things sured up. I think she was incredibly gracious about Simon's rude comment about Siobahn topping her. Why does he feel the need to do that to a contestant. This show is definitely near its end when the judges are useless. Paula seemed to see something in each one. While we always laughed at how she would say something lame, but nice to each contestant she was consistently the one who saw something valuable in each contestant. She was honest when she had to be but I never saw her compare one contestant to the other.

how on earth is Ellen "masculine"??? because she wears pants and has short hair? i'm pretty sure she's happy being a woman. i don't understand this comment at all. would YOU like to be called a "man"??

God forgive me for saying this but I just can't stand Kara DioGuardi. She seems like such a sweet person but she totally turned me off when she was drooling over Casey (the blonde guy with the long hair). Kara just got married last year and now she's acting like a loon. I stopped watching AI becuase of her and Simon. Simon is just a loser. His criticisms are just way off, for me. He's mean for the sake of being mean.

I just hope it doesn't end up one time when Simon like the performer and Randy and Ellen don't and she uses that "I agree with the guys phrase.

Last year all she said was"You know what I like about You"

I really thought she was going to write it as the Fianally song.

oooh Sorry I hit a nerver for you. I just meant that Ellen seems very comfortable in her lifestyle choices and fashion choices which tend to be very masculine. I do not see a side of Ellen that is feminine in the traditional sense of the word feminie (you know, wearing dresses and makeup and glitzy jewelery). She seems very comfortable and I don't think she would have a problem being called "guys". She has a great sense of humor about herself. Loved her comment last night about Casey.

My comment wasn't to insult Ellen because I truly think she wouldn't have a problem with it. Sorry you feel she would.
