So...why don't the judges just pick the songs for them during the first few shows, THEN let them pick their own from then on? This would give the inexperienced singers some idea what fits their voices and we wouldn't have to suffer through "that's not the right song for you" over and over. Sheesh.

I think that's a good idea.

And didn't Carole King used to do that song while playing a grand piano?

That was very karaoke to me. Didn't like it.

I like the faster songs because that's what I listen to for the most part. I want to hear them sing songs that will give me a hint as to what I can buy when they put out a CD. Out of Adam Lamberts album, the ones I didn't like were the slow ones.

Not to me. I come to hear their voices, I don't need to dance to the songs. If I was at a club I'd be ticked off but to hear a singer I want to hear their voices, and ballads show their range.

I don't mind slow songs either. Most memorable from past seasons...Adam Lambert "Mad World", David Cook "First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", Daughtry "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman."

This reminds me of the line from Weird Al's "White and Nerdy" where he says the only question that's hard is do I like Kirk or do I like Picard. Oooh! Maybe someone can sing some Weird Al and spice the show up a bit?

Weird Al is awesome!! I'd LOVE to see him in concert again. Hope he adds shows in NC for his upcoming tour (he usually does Carowinds).

Yeah...if a song is going to be more upbeat, it needs just to shine or exude some raw energy if it's a stronger song.

The slower songs can bring out the passion of the singer, if they have any in them.
