American Idol Thread

Sometimes I wonder if I'm watching a different show than everyone else, because I never see anyone I 100% agree with.

Michael Johns – Dream On – I thought he was absolutely terrible.

Syesha Mercado – I Believe – I think she did great, and I agree- BETTER than Fantasia.

Jason Castro – Over the Rainbow – LOVED it!

Kristy Lee Cook - Anyway – Wow, I thought she did great. I've never been a KLC hater though.

David Cook - Innocent – I thought this was just ok. And his background vocals reminded me of contemporary church music. :confused3

Carly Smithson – The Show Must Go On – Worst performance of the night!

David Archuleta - Angels – BLAH He's good, but he sounds the same every week. I can't see myself ever buying a CD of his, unless it's to help my baby get to sleep. :rotfl:

Brooke White – You’ve Got a Friend – She's one of my favorites normally, but this was just ok.

Bottom 3 for me:
Carly (and should be going home after that)
Michael Johns
Brooke

ETA: I'm loving the Josh Gracin ad this thread is generating. :::swoon::::lovestruc

i'm sick of carly.

it's time she hit the road.
crossing my fingers for thursday on this one.

I was out tonight so I just got finished watching it.

Michael --he was okay, but not great. What is up with the scarf/ascot he has been wearing? It looks awful.

Syesha--I thought she was really good tonight

Jason--LOVED IT!!!! He is just so cute too. :)

KLC--I actually thought she was pretty good tonight. I hated her in the beginning, but she is growing on me a little each week.

David C--AWFUL!!!! My DD12 actually said please turn it off, it is hurting my ears. :)

Carly-- She seemed very angry. I didn't like hers at all.

David A--He was good, has a good voice, but he just bugs me for some reason.

Brooke-- Good, but not her best. I really like her though and hope she sticks around.

My bottom three:
David C
Carly
probably Michael

My top JASON!!

My awards for this evening:

Best Performance - Jason Castro. He was in total control of the song the whole time. I happen to have always loved that version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, and Jason truly did it justice.

The Comeback Kid - Kristy Lee Cook. I don't know how long she's going to be able to survive with the big hole she dug herself in to start the season, but she sure isn't going down without a fight. If she's in the Bottom 3 again, it's only because she cursed herself with that awful rendition of 8 Days a Week.

Disappointment - David Cook. What, exactly, was that? Bad song choice and the vocals just weren't good.

The "I just locked my privates in a vice" award - Michael Johns for when he went falsetto at the end of Dream On. My ears are still ringing.

Hot and Cold Award - Carly Smithson. She's either really good or really bad. The last few weeks she's been really bad.

The 15 minute award- Syesha Mercado. Her 15 minutes of fame need to come to an end this week. It's a shame, too. I pegged her as an early favorite during the initial audition rounds. But, in a season which seems to have a ton of talent, she's just not holding up.

I loved Jason and thought he had the best performance of the night. I'm amazed at the difference in opinion on this one.

Jason and KLC were my favorites tonight!
At first tonight I wasn't sure about Jason. I had been listening but not really watching him. I watched him a second time and LOVED it! It really changed it for me seeing the emotion he puts into a song!

Tonight was so weird for me. The people I usually dont like I liked and my favotires I didn't like. I liked syesha and KLC. I thought Michael Johns was ok.
David Archletta was flawless in my opinion. And Jason Castro OMG I want him to go home. I listed to a little bit of that and fast forwaded. I dont care what the judges say that sounded like what some pot head on a beach in hawaii would sing for money. Horrible.
I was also real dissapointed in David Cook and Carly, they have been my two favorites and they just didnt deliver tonight.

OK, just got done watching.
Obviously I'm not big on the voting aspect of the show.
:rolleyes1

Michael Johns - Just OK and early on he was one of my fav's

Syesha - I think this girl can sing, but personally I haven't connected with her performances enough to be a fan.

Jason - I'm still undecided on tonight's performance. Overall I think he's a bit too low key for my tastes though.

Kristy - I know a lot of folks are more than ready for her to go home, but I thought she had one of the best performances of the night.

David C - I agree with Simon. I think he got a little cocky tonight.

Carly - Again, she can sing, but I didn't like her poor, kicked around, angry me performance at all. I thought the theme was inspirational songs? One of the worst song choices of the season IMO.

David A - My suggestion to just open the results show with him safe on the sofa stands. He's good, I don't think he's as good as all the phone dialing, texting young things think he is though.

Brooke - Not a wow performance, but I like her and I hope it was enough to keep her safe.

Someone said that it was Inspirational songs. I haven't totally figured out what that means yet. Hopefully there won't be any of the Winans songs on there.

The Winans aren't inspirational, they're gospel. And they would've beat just about any of those songs last night....

Bad night all the way around for me, very forgettable.

My favorites did not have a good evening, with Brooke, Carly and David Cook making poor showings. I think Syesha will be going home tomorrow, but Brooke and Carly sticking around for another week.

I'm figuring Brooke will be gone tonight, although I do like her. Not one of the better nights for any of them.

Didn't know which thread to post this on so I'm doing both. :rotfl:

Eww wee, last night was bad, bad, bad! For a night that was supposed to inspire us, it mostly bored me to tears. At any rate, here’s my review.

Michael – Dream On – I like my Aerosmith a bit more up tempo but it wasn’t too bad. Even the screaming at the end was pretty much OK. Not as good as last week but he gets an 8.

Syesha – I Believe – She’s finally starting to move around on the stage. This girl can certainly sing but last night’s performance just didn’t move me. I gave her a 7.

Jason – Somewhere Over the Rainbow – Guess I’m living in an alternate universe, I absolutely hated this. Corny to a nauseating degree, if Jason goes this week it will be fine with me. He gets a 4 and that’s for having the ***** to play a uke on AI.

Kristy Lee – Anyway – I want to dislike this girl but week after week she keeps singing songs I really like and singing them more than just OK. She did it again last night. She’s not Carrie Underwood but she knows what works for her and last night worked well. I gave her a 9.

David C. – Innocent – I had to use the closed captioning to figure out what the heck he was saying. Basically there was no singing involved, just screaming. This was one of the only times I’ve been disappointed with David C. He got a 4. BTW, can we duck tape Paula’s mouth?

Carly – The Show Must Go On – I find myself in the minority again. I really liked this. She should definitely keep to lower tones. When she gets up too high, her voice becomes pitchy and I worry about my mirrors. Simon did have a point though with his over singing it comment. Still, it was better than just OK. I gave her a 6.

David A. – Angels – You know I’m really getting tired of the revival music. I’d like to see him break out and sing Hurt So Good or Little Red Corvette. That’s probably not going to happen but enough already. He got a 4 because of the boredom factor.

You’ve Got a Friend I cannot stand James Taylor so when I heard she was singing this I was prepared to mute it. Surprisingly I really enjoyed her version. She didn’t over sing it and really seemed moved by the words. Nice job all the way around, she got an 8.

Who I voted for:
Kristy Lee
Syesha
Carly
Brooke

Who I want to go home:
Jason

Who I think will go home:
Millions of little girls will send one of the girls home Thursday night.

As Always… JMHO! :teeth:

I'm surprised at how many people aren't familiar with Jason's ukelele version of somewhere over the rainbow.

I do think it is very cool how there is such a range of likes and dislikes on last night's show. It sounds like Jason was the top performer for a majority of people though and David Cook was a disappointment and Carly or Brooke likely going home.

I first remember hearing that version years ago on ER when Dr Greene passed away. I've loved it every since.

I couldn't remember where I had heard it before, but that was it. I loved it too.

Michael -- eh, not so great this week. He has become my disappointment idol, I used to have high hopes for him.

Syesha-- I thought she sang well but she doesn't do much for me.

Jason-- He is interesting, I guess. The song was okay, for him, but I don't see him making it in the music industry.

KLC-- ugh. She did sound okay but she is out of her league and should have already been gone and she did okay enough that she will probably stay another week.

David C-- Loved it, yeah, I'm in the minority, don't care. I think he is awesome. I would buy his CD.

Carly-- I like Carly and I thought her song was good. Was surprised by the bad reviews from the three.

David A-- /sigh, can't stand this kid. He is a one trick pony who can only sing ballads. I feel that he was chosen the winner before the competition even started.

Brooke-- Playing it safe. She did good, but predictable. She needs to step outside of her comfort zone and see what she is really made of.

Bottom 3:
I would put
Syesha
Jason &
KLC
up there with KLC going home but I don't think this is how it will go.

David C and Carly would be my picks for the final two with David C taking the grand prize.

Yep, that was where I first heard it too.

I agree, Jason was tops, and I would REALLY like to see Carly go home.

And David Cook, I have thought was great every week, until this week. he just sounded wierd and I didn't care for it. He shouldnt' go home or anything, it just was not a good week for him.

I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but last night they only let Carly and Brooke talk after the judges spoke. Everyone else, they just rushed through, to the point where when the judges spoke after Jason's performance, Ryan said "don't say anything", and gave out the phone numbers:confused3

They should be fair to all the contestants and give them equal time!

I liked Michael Johns and Jason Castro (I also thought about ER and poor Dr. Green).

KLC did pretty good last night, but she has zero stage presence. Sayesha was also good vocally but she is so boring.

I didn't really care for David Cooks song last night, but I kind of get the vibe he was going for. As Simon would say, I thought it was self-indulgent. I am still a big fan though:thumbsup2

Carly was just ok. I thought her outfit was horrible but her hair/makeup looked better!

I really like Brooke, but I really didn't like her song last night. To me it was so boring I wanted to fast forward it. I hope she stays though another week.

Finally, David A. I just don't get it, I thought that song was as gimmicky as they come. Vocally he sounds the same every week, there is no denying it. But he does the same thing every week which is so boring and when he did try something more uptempo and fun he messed up. I know he will be in the finals and probably win, but I still don't get it :confused3
