Did anybody watch American Idol last night, what are your thoughts.

Two big stand out moments for me, first Lakisha Jones WOW!WOW!WOW! and seeing Fantasia back on singing "Im Here" Superb!!!!:cheer2: :cheer2:

Dont have a favorite male yet.

havnt seen it yet but i love american idol:) will tell you what i thought after the weekend

Watched a little bit but when did Cat Deeley get that gig :confused3 Not a fan !

Cat Deeley has been signed up for this new series, have to say Im not impressed myself, not really sure why she is needed:confused3

Think I'm in the minority but I quite like Cat Deeley on AI. Not sure why because I was never a fan of hers.

It was fantastic seeing Fantasia again, man can she sing. I would really love to see her going far.

Not impressed by any of the men yet particularly AJ. My fav at the moment is the single mum with a daughter, can't mind her name at the moment.

Florence, thats Lakisha Jones who you are talking about, brilliant was'nt she:thumbsup2

I thought it was Sue but I wasn't a 100% sure. She was excellent, appears to be getting better and better. I really hope she goes far on the show.

Cat Deeley's interviews with the contestants after they have sung had us cringing.

She is a lovely lady, but it is rather like those conversations where people are desperately trying to find something to say to each other and not succeeding. They've not even edited out the silences, before and post hugs!!!

I hadn't realised that I didn't like Cat Deeley until seeing her providing the UK links for American Idol :rotfl: . For starters, they're completely unnecessary, but they could at least have chosen someone with some talent. She seems to be the currrent darling amongst our exports, but she's unbelievably cringeworthy. "Gissa kiss" to all the boys - what's all that about?! Shows like this are normally really good at picking the best - Ryan Seacrest is slick and professional, as are Kate Thornton and Ben Shephard on the X Factor.

Anyway, now I've got that off my chest, back to the show :teeth:. The girls quite simply wiped the floor with the boys, didn't they? There are quite a few girls I like, but the boys need to up the ante. As usual, there were some who deserved to go, but managed to stay in. Sanjayar got very lucky. Did you notice that, when it was just him and Rudy (?) left on stage, Ryan said that one of them was in the top four and the other was going home? Top four?! He's sweet, but the performance was poor. Antonella was the worst of the girls by some way - she really should have gone, but she's pretty, so that undoubtely gets her votes. As one of the losing girls said, she felt she might have stayed if she'd had more coverage in some of the pre-shows and started to gain a fan base. I think it was the one with the long dress who was on second or third. Amy? I thought she was good, although she messed it up a bit the second time.

I watched 3 hours of this over the weekend but missed who went!

Can anyone tell me?

Thanks!

Thanks Deb! Im so glad you included the pictures as I would have never have known who they were from the names!!

I don't want to throw the "Cat" amongst the pigeons (did you see what I did there? Cat? Oh never mind). But I quite like the Deeley bopper as she speaks clearly. I do find her clawing hands a little odd.

Lakisha is OK but do you remeber the big lady from the last series - Mandissa? She was VERY VERY good indeed. I think she knocks Lakisha into a cocked hat.

I like the lass who was a backing singer before this (I have disrespectfuly forgotten her name). Very good voice, perfectly even throughout it's range, good diction (hurrah) makes it look all sooooo easy. And that's why she won't win. She seems unassuming and pleasant too. I am rather taken with her. Melinda, that's her name, it came to me suddenly.

I can't bear that clipped presenting style. Davina McCall does it too. For me, it smacks of a lack of confidence, almost as though they're not comfortable being themselves. Surely they don't speak in that staccato fashion in real life?

Funnily enough I decided to watch American Idol this year partly because of Cat Deeley - I've never watched it before. Different strokes and all that.

I think she is flavour of the month with Nigel Lythgoe at the moment. He was executive producer of "So You Think You Can Dance" and hired he to host that show and presumably hired her for AI as well.

I myself speak in a manner that suggests a Dalek cross bred with a demented typewriter. Or a rap version of Stephen Hawking. (Actually I don't. How about a cross between Barry White (when alive) and Joe Pasquale?)

I don't like the McCall lady 'cos she doesn't shut up - always jumps in when people are speaking.

Deeley can fake sincerity. When you can do that you've got it made.

Seacrest has a good radio voice. Is it me or does he look a little like Scrooge McDuck?

Used to love Kate Thornton when she did the ITV2 shows during pop idol. She doesn't relax in the same way during X-Factor and can come across as a bit school-ma'am-ish. Still like her though. Ben Sheppherd is another clear speaker. Also like Dermot O'Leary for much the same reasons and because he seems like a nic lad.
