In my opinion it seems that the guy should perhaps be in jail or paying restitution. I don't care if he really just "meant well", he (individually) or his legal entities (that he wholly and/or partly had an interest in) have stolen thousands of dollars from people for goods and services these folks have never received.
Some interesting tidbits...
VFTW has a detailed expose here:

Read some of the comments there as well, they are quite illuminating.
The "Oz the Musical" website/domain name expired on January 20th:

Even with all the cancellations, the production was having auditions as late as November 2009:

Comments from parents from 7 & 8 weeks ago who paid money and have received nothing for it here:

Todrick C. Hall is quoted (in an article originally posted by Fox in Tampa
http://www.myfoxtampabay.com/dpp/news/local/polk/lakeland_oz_musical_canceled_061109, and also subsequently quoted in the VFTW article)
as saying that the show was scheduled in 30 cities 'but unfortunately three or four of the cities' had to be canceled. It is evident that the money from all those cancelled shows has been spent ON SOMETHING ELSE since he admits at firstcoastnews.com that
he will put on another play this fall and the proceeds will be used to reimburse the families of 'Oz The Musical'.

The firstcoastnew page also has a video of the August '09 news report. This news clip contains the apparent origination at 00:33 of a parent's mis-statement that "in Tennessee that he's collected 3000 families' money". This is untrue, as Hall himself admits in another news clip that they cast a total of 3000 kids nationwide...but of course, at $50 to $75 a head...that does add up to at least $150,000 - $225,000.
The cancellation of Nashville's show in June made the TV news there. The producers told some parents the show was going to be produced at The Grand Ol' Opry or at TPAC in downtown, though neither venue had been booked or even contacted. What's worse is
after the children auditioned, the parents were only then told about the $50-$75 performance fees that were supposed to be for the costumes and for rehearsal space. Even though the costumes consist mainly of T-Shirts, even though the rehearsal spaces were to have been donated for FREE by various dance studios.
Finally, though the producers were featuring Diana DiGarmo in their various materials throughout much of the year, (as reported elsewhere) she told the Nashville TV news station that she was never a part of the national tour. The video of the news report seems to show an unknown production of the show, and while it is cute (as in awwwww, aren't those kids cuuuuuuute), it is certainly not up to the level of a national tour, even a bus-&-truck non-union tour.

So far, using the VFTW article plus other sources, the actual # of cancellations seems to be up to:
Muskegon, MI(possibly the Kalamazoo show location)
Pittsburgh, PA(unknown show location, might be one of the shows in Ohio)
Lakeland, FL
Tampa, FL
Sarasota, FL
Jacksonville, FL(07/09 and possibly 05/09 - "Oz" show cancelled, this show's cancellation was reported on in 08/09 @ firstcoastnews.com)
Nashville, TN
Indianapolis, IN
Waco, TX
Corpus Christi, TX
Lubbock, TX (also bonus location of another cancelled Todrick C. Hall production 'CinderellaROCK' - 07/09 - from Lubbockonline.Com)
Ohio (don't know which city, perhaps the Cicero or Cleveland shows were canceled?) [A show or possibly shows were canceled in Ohio according to NewsChannel 6 out of Indianapolis
http://www.theindychannel.com/news/21776891/detail.html]
So, I have to wonder... how many cancellations was it? Just the supposed 3 or 4 or the reality of (at last count) of
at least 9 different venues?
I have to wonder... how many families have actually lost their "performance fee" with no performance?
And I
really have to wonder...why does Mr. Hall leave so much bad financial news for others in his wake?
agnes!
ETA: Ok, maybe I sounded harsh, sorry about that. It's just that
someone owes these parents their money back. Did they hand it over perhaps too willingly? Maybe, but the fact remains that many of them have received nothing for their $50 or $75. If it's not Mr. Hall then it should be
whoever it was that actually had their mitts on all those parents' money...maybe that Greg Money from P.I. Solutions in Texas?
