As others have pointed out, women have won this show before. And three of the 4 times they won against men. Clearly a woman can win if she clicks with the voters. And I think that is where Crystal fell short.

Holy moly! Idol reunion if there ever has been one tonight! I think the only Idol not confirmed to be there tonight is David Cook! Almost every season is back!

DC was in KC last night seeing a concert. And 4 hours ago he tweeted a picture by a pool. I'm guessing David won't be there tonight.

So do I and would go see her in concert before him. He is really good but he has no stage appeal and looks lost up their most of the time. I have to say however he has grown much more than she has in the season, she came out really good and stayed really good....he came out not so great but improved.

I thought about voting for him because he is good but because he had such a sad face all the time. Like he needed the win for confidence. she has the confidence and I think that is why some thing it is arrogance.

Many of the Idols you dont see much of except like 3 that have made something of their career...unlike ones like Anastasia.

It's like the ones that just loved Blondie as I like to call him...he was not that great yet made it to the final 4 this season......some vote because they think he's cute...

Anyway goes to show you you cant argue taste....we all have our own feelings about the music we like. As for her being like Joplin....I am a huge Joplin fan and her style is just that. He reminded me of Bruce Springsteen...who I know personally.

Tonight who ever wins IMO it does not matter because they will both have promising careers...unlike some of the other winners in the past.

It's so funny reading all the comments swooning over Lee on this thread, while hating on Crystal for so many different things. Of course, the posters appear to be about 90% women, so I guess its not surprising. Lee will win this thing for one reason only, and it isn't talent. Crystal is by far the better singer, musician, and performer, but won't win because its mostly women who watch and vote on this show.

Men get such a bad rap with being shallow and all about looks. But women are going to give this thing to Lee based only on looks, both his and hers. I swear women can be so unjustifiably judgmental and spiteful, especially toward other women. I know this is just a stupid TV show, but anyone who thinks women should rule the world ought to rethink that. Bill Clinton and Lee DeWeeze, two reasons women shouldn't be allowed to vote.

And I don't know where people get this feeling of her being arrogant. She had confidence and a love of what she does, but I never felt she was arrogant. She has been nothing but grateful, polite, and humbled by the opportunity through this whole thing. Just because she talks and shows personality, doesn't mean she is arrogant. And just because Lee looks like a scared chihuahua about to piddle on the floor, doesn't make him more talented or more deserving of winning this thing.

Although I clearly recognized her as the best singer, I too wasn't sure if I would want to listen to her CD. But after listening to her original songs on You Tube (do yourself a favor and check them out, although it's too late), she is probably the ONLY American Idol winner (if there is any justice in this world), that I may actually buy.

I'm a woman, and I can tell you that if I was voting based on looks, I'd be dialing in for Crystal. If I was going to vote on singing talent, I'd vote for Crystal. If I was going to vote on who I would rather listen to on the radio, it is hands down Lee. I like Crystal, she is a great singer however she'll make an album and be forgotten because her music just isn't what America wants to hear on the top 40, Lee's style is. There are plenty of great singers out there, but if they aren't singing the kind of music people want to listen to then it doesn't matter how good they are.

Tons and tons of Idols there, I'm having trouble keeping up! Janet Jackson, Bee Gees, Chicago, and Hall and Oats are all there.

Than why would the website bother showing it at all.........20,000 votes showing to a possible 30 million.....does not show the web site stats to be very reliable and far from correct.

Interesting....

Have they been correct on who would be voted out for every week? I see him having an advantage for the fact that all the little girls and teens that are crushing on him....and vote for him as many times as they can on how ever many phones they have.

Its like last season....what was up with that! Me thinks that all the teen and young girls were loving his sweetness and he was really cute. But clearly not the best singer....and him winning sent shock waves all over the media.

I say, never underestimate young girls who have many phones
