American Idol Season 9 Thread Top 5

idk they do that "Blue Collar Comedy Tour"

yeah....my husband is one of those guys. works in a factory, not such a glamourous job.

haven't most of the winners been like that, tho?? with the exception of Jordin Sparks, i think most of the winners kind of came from nothing and won.

true...

I guess I just think Lee is the more marketable one of the bunch and I don't think being a blue collar guy is a bad thing.

Maybe if we complain about it enough, they'll listen to us again! :thumbsup2

It wouldn't be so bad if I didn't have to get up at 3:30AM for work. :headache:

There's a facebook page "Harry Connick Jr. To Replace Simon On American Idol".

Ah I remember the finale performances, when they all favored Archie to win, especially after David sang "The World I Know" and started to cry, since I knew that was a song he liked. My dad went "Oh, Cook is out. He's got no chance in H-e-l-l." and I was in total anger over him saying that and the judges 'betraying' me, so I ended up voting 1,000 times that night to prove them all wrong.

No joke. :cutie:

lol i think that's what happened that season to everyone, to be honest. no one thought David Cook was going to win, espically after how rude Simon was to him for the final two weeks, so everyone voted a million times for him. i even had DH's cell phone and my cell phone and i was calling in votes all night for him lol.

true...

I guess I just think Lee is the more marketable one of the bunch and I don't think being a blue collar guy is a bad thing.

i never said it was, i actually said my DH is the "factory worker/unglamorous job" guy. but i never thought we were considered "blue collar" i thought we were "middle class" :confused3

apparently i'm not really getting the "blue collar" thing i guess.

i know White Collar....but that's only because it's one of my favorite tv shows lol

i mean, Lee isn't horrible or anything. out of the 3 i guess he'd be....the lesser of the evils? but he sounds like everyone else right now and i think people are wanting something new and different now.

Hey all. I watched tonight but haven't had a chance to come here. I'll have to go through everyone's comments later to see what everyone thought.

I think Casey is done tonight. If he makes it to next week, then whoever is in the final 2 with him is gonna win no problem.

I've been liking Lee more and more each week - but still not enough to pick up the phone to vote.

In the beginning, I didn't think Crystal was gonna win because she was the judges early favorite, and the early favorite never wins. It will be interesting to see if it will be Crystal or Lee. I probably won't be voting next week, but if one of them blows me away, maybe I will.

you hate when people quote movies?? you'd hate being in my house lol DH and i do it all the time!

Some conversations DH and I have are completely in movie quotes. Luckily, we like most of the same movies.

That was pretty good!! Still don't care for him as a guy, though, creepy blue collar ugh, the total opposite of hot. :scared:

The song was good. :thumbsup2

That is how I feel about David Cook- creepy, blue collar and just downright skeevy looking.... Not liking lees looks either but I do like his singing much better than David Cooks.

Sorry, I knew you didn't make the comment about the blue collar thing...my husband has been a blue collar worker for almost 30 years and I consider us middle class too.

I think in terms that white collar are the professionals that sit in an office behind a desk, blue collars are the factory, retail, sales type of jobs...even mine is more blue collar cause even though I sit in an office at a desk I am answering phones all day doing customer service.

I was referring to the comment on Lee being an creepy blue collar ugh guy...kind of insulting to me I guess. Maybe should have just said creepy looking or something...nothing wrong with being a retail worker

I also never got why those comedians were the blue collar tour...they were more the red neck types...but maybe it was because the humor was geared more for the the blue collar folks??

And I don't think people want different (or at least I don't ..I'm boring that way)..that would have been Adam last year :scared1: lol.

So I did something last night I have not done all season, I voted. In a two hour span of trying I only got through 5 times for Lee. So let's hope that is a good sign.

While I still adore Casey, I think it will come down to Crystal and Lee next week. I didn't like his choice of song at all. I did like hearing him sing "Daughters" but I don't think that was enough to get him through to next week.

I'm tired of Crystal, have never cared for her Janis Joplin-type singing but I'm almost hoping she does win, just so Lee can put out the album HE wants to put out, and not what AI wants him to put out.

Loved, loved, loved both of Lee's songs, he did an awesome job with both.

And so what if he's not good at interviews. His talent his singing, not being an eloquent speaker. He'll get better at that, the more concerts he does.

I only voted about half an hour and got the same number of votes in.

I hope I'm not disappointed like last season's top 3...:guilty: I spent the entire 2 hours voting for Danny last year.

I am kind of tired of Crystal too. Her whole having to have her own microphone stand, rug, and whatnot. :confused3 And I did not care for her first performance with the harmonica at all.

I told y'all I would post it here when my friend, Rodney, had it up online.

Bo Bice’s “American Idol” journey is already five years in the past, but Bice himself is only looking forward – and thinking in threes.

He and his wife just had their third boy. He is releasing his third album today called “3.” “And I’m a huge Dale Earnhardt fan,” he said in an interview last week. You can sample the entire album at AOL music here. It’s being released through Saguaro Road Records (the Blind Boys of Alabama, Tanya Tucker, Lonestar) in association with Bice’s own Sugar Money Records.

Bice, who resided in tiny Helena, Ala. when he was on “Idol,” now lives with his family on a seven-acre lot about a half hour outside of downtown Nashville with a host of cows, deer, rabbit and squirrels. His studio is 45 feet from the back of the house. Although not directly affected by the recent Nashville floods, he is giving the proceeds to one of his songs “Long Road Back” and an upcoming benefit concert to help those in need.

“We love this community,” he said. “It’s a community we’ve worked hard to make sure our people are taken care of.”

He has always felt pride for Carrie Underwood, who won “Idol” the year he came in second place. “I wouldn’t want Carrie’s schedule for anything,” he said. “She’s the hardest working woman in show business. She’s a beautiful, sweet girl. I knew her well before we were in the top 10. I always knew she was a star and she has proven that.”

Bice remains healthy after he had intestinal surgery in 2006. “Three years, I’ve had a clean bill of health,” he said. “I don’t do liquor. I drink a little wine and beer. And I’m not burning the candles on both ends. It’s amazing when you finally get your world straightened out and stop abusing your body.”

He has just released a mid-tempo single to country radio “You Take Yourself With You,” though he isn’t sure when a video will be shot. He said the album is a mix of his Southern rock, country and a bit of gospel. “It’s a much broader spectrum” than previous efforts. Since album sales are not going to generate much income, he has to make up for that through tour sales, merchandise and downloads. He blogs and interacts with fans through bobice.com and his Twitter page.

He also holds two parties a year for his fan club members: one around Christmas and one during Fan Fair on June 12 at Limelight that will become a benefit concert for MusiCares.

Bice has no Atlanta concert dates set up just yet but will be in town to visit family and friends in a few weeks. He grew in the Cumming area from age 8 to 12 and his mom still lives there.

And as noted before, he has no regrets about his own career path: “Not only do I get to do what I love in this business but I get to be a dad and a husband.”

I just didn’t get anything from Crystal’s “Amazed” performance and I think it was mainly due to the weird arrangement. She had a couple of screamy moments in that and her first song. She is very talented and definately an artist and entertainer. She will go on in this business, but I am afraid she might be pigeon holed – ala Taylor Hicks.
Lee was very good last night. Although I didn’t like his first performance that much (have you heard Shinedown’s version of this – AWESOME!!! AMAZING!!!). I do think he brought something different to Hallelujah that has not been done in the MANY times it has been done on AI.
Those 2 deserve to be in the finals – especially compared to the rest of those in the top 10. Casey, where did this 2nd chin come from, James was about to put me to sleep. Maybe that is his genre – music for insomniacs….

I know what blue collar means I just thought what Robin said was...... (and I didn't know who she was talking about at the time...out of the three, I think Crystal and Casey look moreso blue collar than Lee or that they belong at New College)

I voted for the first time last night too. 8 times for Lee!

I love his singing and I really love how his confidence has grown. He seemed to have such stage-fright at the beginning of this process. He just seems like an "everyman" to me.

....Casey be gone...Casey be gone...Casey be gone...Casey be gone...Casey be gone...Casey be gone......:rolleyes1
